    Anyone who is here to complain that they criticized Ben's playing totally missed the point. They are giving him free advice. The world of classical performance revolves around constructive criticism and advice; to anyone who has been trained this way, it is normal. Ben even said on his twitter account that he agreed with them. So you guys can relax because they are actually doing him a favor and providing something for free that most people have to pay for.

      I agree. That was a fairly easy, I'd say intermediate arrangement and he got a beautiful tone out of the instrument and expressed real emotion, not just technical excellence.

    • @AmysMusic7
      @AmysMusic7 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Ben is clearly, barely classically trained, from a classically trained professional. He has the skill of someone who dabbles, with a good ear for intervals-hence he plays pretty well in tune. And if you vehemently disagree, then list his violin teachers. Most of us have to have a pedigree to show that we are trained correctly-though his playing is a dead giveaway as well. In the end, Ben being classically trained isn’t the point. Thank you Two-Set for your two-“sense” to help out/guide all of us in our musical journey, or enlighten us in our musical ignorance!

    • @AmysMusic7
      @AmysMusic7 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tinalettieritechnical excellence? You clearly do not have a background in playing an instrument like the violin, or a very good ear to know what technical excellence is. Not appropriate to comment when we don’t know what we are looking for. Just because you like what you hear, or just because you like Ben Shapiro, doesn’t mean his playing is good violin playing.

    • @tinalettieri
      @tinalettieri 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@AmysMusic7 I actually did take violin and piano and my violin teacher, a Julliard grad student ear tested me before she took me on. I have almost perfect pitch. I scored an 86 on my first National Piano Teachers (or whatever it's called) exam at the end of my first year of study. In fact, I could play by ear but I was forbidden from doing so, yes, FORBIDDEN by the technique nazis.
      Ben's personality has nothing to do with my understanding of music. For an amateur, he did well but I never said he was technically excellent. In fact, I said the opposite. The arrangement he played is quite simple actually and I'd put it at advanced beginner level. We all start someplace. Yehudi Menuin quit taking lessons because his teachers were insisting on unnatural body movements and postures which is what I was talking about. I took piano for adults in a college and the professor who also taught at Westminster told us, a missed note can be fixed while learning a piece but rhythm is everything. Without it, you don't have a melody. Having to go back to fix a note breaks the rhythm and anyone with an ear know they missed it and can go back and fix it once they understand the piece.

      @@drwatsonca6945 Since you decided to get inappropriately political at the end, I'll just say that he doesn't attack anyone any harder than people on the other side of the political divide and his information is certainly not fake. Watching him destroy people on the other side in debates is quite fun to watch. Living under the side that he destroys and watching it kill our economy and society is not fun to watch. That being said and refocusing on playing an instrument, with proper critiquing and practice, he can get better if he chooses. I highly doubt that he resents receiving CONTRUCTIVE criticism which is what the video is obviously offering him.

    I've always loved when TwoSet gives their feedback to violinists. Seeing this for instance has made me think much more consciously about the small details such as breathing before a new phrases, vibrato continuity and doing shifts while maintaining sound quality. It is really helpful tot get these tips on things that would otherwise go unnoticed. As a percussionist and now (I guess) violinist for three years, I'm not feeling that I am able to bring my musicality into my playing due to the huge difference in nature of these instruments, but TwoSet demonstrating their knowledge and sharing it can give me a huge boost in my perception of violin playing and musicality in general. I wish they'd do these kinds of tips more often!

      Absolutely spot on. Their ability to articulate such subtle techniques is fascinating and humbling. I grew up playing the clarinet and had to tolerate some soul crushing violin playing at the high school level. Many years later, I witnessed a professional performance and was moved to tears. It was hard to understand, objectively, why it sounded so much better than what I'd heard before. This video helped open my eyes and ears to what goes into such high level playing. You get the sense that they're just getting started, too. Amazing.

      @@joaquimgianini1234 to be fair, it is hard to see past the parts of a person that you severely dislike and recognize what talents they possess outside of whatever causes you grief. I wouldn't say him playing is controversial, just that he is a highly controversial human and everything attached to him is something that many would scrutinize just because they can't stand who he is. It shows a certain amount of maturity to be able to move past that and give someone credit where it is due.
