  • Everyone asks who is Ben Lee and why is he so sacrilegious, but nobody ever asks how is Ben Lee?
    On the two-year anniversary of TwoSetViolin's infamous smackdown that propelled him into a wider audience and most importantly, on Ben Lee's 40th birthday, I wanted to investigate who the person was behind the $1.5 million dollar Swarovski crystal electric violin. Why did he go for such a world record? How did his career with his rock band Fuse turn out? What is he doing now? Join me in my research into the speedy boi himself.

      If they ever meet again, I'd honestly want them to have a podcast-style conversation where they clear up any misunderstandings, talk about the infamous world record video, and discuss the similarities and differences between classical violin and rock electric violin as well as the public's outlook on the genres (stereotypes that classical is boring, rock is sacrilegious, etc.). I never got the vibe that Ben Lee was really all that bad of a dude. After all, he tried to play along with TwoSet's roast, and didn't go after them. It would take a lot of class not to be at least somewhat offended by what they did.
    The setup makes perfect sense to me. As a musician I know I have sometimes ended up in situations where I wasn't totally comfortable but I somehow got convinced to do it because of various circumstances. If you watch that interview one thing that's really clear is that Ben isn't totally comfortable there. Maybe he's really happier as a producer than a live performer. I wish him the best.

      Apparently they removed all comments from that one video where she says it. Makes you wonder what kind of comments would have been made..

    • @phrog_underscore
      @phrog_underscore 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I bet that she does. She seems intimately aware of the interview, as evident by her piece "the sixty minutes polka", a modivication on her inprovisation from the interview. To say that she hadn't read the comments before they were disabled seems to be a slim chance to me, but idk

    • @MissTwoSetEncyclopedia
      @MissTwoSetEncyclopedia 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Alma's parents have always been extremely protective. Which is understandable, considering her unusual musical abilities started to show when she was only 2.
      She has always been homeschooled, takes lessons from private music teachers. Her father even refused to expose her to operas with tragic plots when she was young, because he was afraid it would traumatise her.
      They also limit her performances, only selecting opportunities that they consider the most enjoyable and helpful for her.
      She's very sheltered, and honestly, I don't think that's a bad thing. To her parents, the most important is protecting her and ensuring that she has a happy childhood. (This is more than we can say about many prodigies' parents...)
      Which is why I genuinely think that, even if people may have told her about this TwoSet video, she hasn't watched it, and she probably didn't read any of the comments under the "60 Minutes" video either. I doubt she even watches TH-cam at all.
      In an interview last year (she was 14) she said she didn't have a cell phone and had little interest in social media. She has a computer but mostly uses it to write her compositions.
      By the way, the comment section under the video wasn't disabled because of TwoSetters (even if it's true they were A LOT of comments talking about TwoSet).
      Three years ago, it was discovered that paedophiles were leaving predatory comments under videos of children, which is why TH-cam ultimately decided to disable the comments on the majority of videos featuring kids, including this one.

      @taon2004 ปีที่แล้ว

      @TheCartóon94 it's one thing to make several videos making fun of her. That's as low as it gets in itself. The problem is that twosets cult fans then spend the next 5 years pestering every single comment section with the stupid meme and still do to this day. Not surprised though, twosets whole game is to bully other people, so of course their fans would do the same. Reminds me of trump and his followers.
