The co family situation can definelty work. Me and my husband go and eat dinner with my ex-mother-in-law all the time. She will always be my mother-in-law. And she looks at me as one of hers. She really struggled with mine and her sons divorce at first, but once she realized we could all still be "family". She loves my husband. She loves her daughter in law (my exes wife). We all get along and are planning my youngest daughters upcoming wedding. It can be done beautifully ❤

The same thing happened for my mother when she and my father got divorced. My grandmother (her MIL) embraced her and maintained the same relationship with her. It was so wonderful and I'm so thankful it happened that way. 💜

My grandparents raised me. They divorced when I was in high school. They did not do well as a married couple but after the divorce they were best friends. They went to dinner every Friday, spoke on the phone daily. He still got her gifts on Mother’s Day and sweetest day. When he passed my grandma said she lost her best friend. They just weren’t a match as a married couple.

I feel like every. single. TH-cam video I watch the creator apologizes about some production element. It’s annoying to me bc it actually distracts from the video and the content bc now I’m paying attention to something I wouldn’t even have noticed otherwise. “Sorry about my voice I have a cold. Sorry about the background noise. Sorry about the lighting it’s cloudy outside.” I literally don’t even notice half of things they point out and care about zero of them. I didn’t buy a movie ticket to watch the video, so I’m not expecting a cinematic masterpiece. Do people actually complain about this stuff? Stop apologizing. You’re good girl.

Each day I write 5 “gratitudes” and 5 “I’m proud of myself” in a journal. I changed it up a little. I use to write 10 gratitudes a day and I am truly grateful for many things. However, we don’t give ourselves enough credit for the things we are proud of that we achieve each day. Some days it hard to just get up and get going when things don’t feel bright and happy. Sometimes we need to give ourselves a pat on the back for forging through scary things and acknowledge we are proud of ourselves for doing it. I find this is helpful for me to go back and read all that I have achieved as well as what I am grateful for. ❤️

I now , at 58 , after having failed marriage, I feel blessed that I am WOMAN. I take one day at a time , and figure it out then. No more planning, no more putting un necessary stress on myself. It's wonderful. Now with COVID as a nurse I appreciate the tiniest things in life, like taking a shower and spraying myself with my favorite scent, eating a tomato I grew. It was a long time coming. I was never, fortunately , spoiled so I'm so much stronger, and that's a great thing.

Jen, if you start camping the kids will adjust and they will sleep better quite easily. We started camping with our children when our youngest was 2 years old and we have camped every year (except for 2020) since then, sometimes for extended periods. We camp in a tent, not even an RV. They LOVE it. About four years ago, we did a three-week trip to Namibia and it was amazing. We live in South Africa, so Namibia is quite close. We also have plenty fo national parks to choose from for camping experiences.
As to the COVID situation, I burnt out four years ago and the lesson I took away from that experience is that I must observe the boundaries between my sphere of influence and my sphere of control. Sometimes we can influence more than we can control, and to try to influence the uncontrollable is impossible.
I had to be reminded of that this year, because my children are in grade 7 and grade 11. Our school year starts in January and ends in December. Schools closed on the 20th of March and my Grade 11 only went back to school in the middle of June (we had a staggered approach, the Grade 7 one went back at the beginning of June). 2 Weeks after that, the schools closed again for a month. My kids did have online school, but my Grade 11, who has never done well at school for various reasons, completely disengaged and did almost no work. It almost drove me to distraction until I realised that it was out of my control. I can only influence him, not control him.
    Good luck with your decision!

It's good to hear that you and Don are still friends. I hope you'll share more stories of your trip, if you feel like it. It was nice to see Don during the first pool story and when CC was sitting with him during movie night. It's good for the kids to see you getting along and to be able to do things as a family.

    • @lindaalberts8770

I missed the pool story and CC sitting with Don for the movie. How did this happen?

    • @lynns3868
      @lynns3868 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@lindaalberts8770 She shared those stories near the beginning of their trip. If you have Instagram she shares stories sometimes. They only last 24 hours though. I think it's probably easier to share on Instagram because you don't have to get a vlogging camera out and then upload to TH-cam. It was nice to see them all together having fun at the pool and sitting together as a family for movie night. I think it's best for the kids when divorced parents can get along like Jen and Don do.

I absolutely love how you said that: “anchor yourself in gratitude”, I’m going to steal that! I’m a very positive person with little stress and I always say the key to happiness is to have an attitude of gratitude. It’s hard to dwell on the difficult parts in life when you intentionally focus on the things you’re lucky to have. You and Don are amazing parents and your kids are so lucky to have you. Not everyone is able to put what’s best for their children first. I have a 1 and 3 year old and we just bought a camper this summer. They’ve been loving it! But yes, no sleeping 🤪

So happy to hear you and Don are good friends....he seems like such a good, warm , sensitive person , who loves you and his children. Romantically connected doesn’t always work out , as humans are wired with many variable components. But, each year brings more awareness to the world that people don’t choose their sexuality; it’s how they’re made, and we’re all more accepting of each other,. A good person is a good person. And we’re all lucky to have a good person in our lives.

I really admire you and Don for so amicably working through your co-parenting. My mom's parents divorced when she was very young and it was a very nasty break up and she ended up not spending much time with her dad at all growing up or her two younger half-siblings. It was partly due to my grandmother moving her around but also just because they could not co-parent and amicably work together

Before selling your DVC, I’d look into renting the points out that you can’t use. There are many services that will handle it all for you, and you’ll make enough to pay the dues and make a profit. Then that way you still have them when you do want to use them. DVC is the only timeshare I know of that actually appreciates in value. This isn’t any kind of ad or sponsorship, just a Disney nerd sharing insight. Haha Side note - the wind was actually lovely and not at all obtrusive.

We recently moved with kids during the pandemic - definitely stressful! But we didn’t move far thankfully. We had a packing service which was amazing, we were kind of at a loose end. Kids were at school and preschool thankfully (they went back for June/July here in the UK, back again after the summer holidays this week, thank goodness!). Enjoy your new space x

Hi Jenn, I really enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing. I have been watching your videos for many years. Your videos have been so helpful with the organization a and cleaning at first then I started watching your other content as well. I've learned a lot from you and I really appreciate you. Glad you are having a good vacation as well. You seem to be such a loving and kind person so I am not surprised that you are still very close to Don and his family. ❤

Long time viewer, first comment (I am pretty sure!) I think you amazing and your outlook on traveling with Don’s family (and your family, so true!) is admirable. Your kids will cherish these memories and you two are modeling great values and parenting. Stay strong Jen!

Jen..you seem relaxed and glad it is working out for you. I pray about situations and give it to God. Any control we have is what he allows us to have in any given situation..and he never leaves us.

What a beautiful backdrop for this video. You look and seem so relaxed. That’s a shame about Disney but like you said, maybe there are other trips in your future. Now that you’re in a different space, instead of Disney every year maybe it’s once every 3 years with other adventures in between with the kids. Options are endless. Enjoy the rest of your time away.❤️
