    Correction: Hart Parr number 3 is still on loan to the Smithsonian in DC. I thought it had come back. The Hart Parr in this video is just a 30-60 which was one of the more popular models.

    The signature board blows my mind. That was back when people took a job and held that job and took some pride in it. I can't imagine what those people were feeling on that day.

    Thank you for doing this video it was neat looking at the history of Oliver I wish they still made these tractors because they last and made great not the computers and DEF crap like now. Fifty years from now the equipment of now with be junk not running but this old equipment will still be going. Plus back in those days they tested equipment and if it didn’t work they scrapped it now they just draw it up and throw it on the tractor and we have to test it at our expense and if it doesn’t work they don’t care they just sell us the parts to keep it going. Parts changers

    I believe the Superior grain drill actually has "opening" disks. The front of the machine is facing the window as determined by the lift lever being on the rear of the drill and the bracket for the pole being on the window side as well.

    Very nice video but, you've got the grain drill backwards. Those discs aren't closers, they are openers. The pole for the horses would be on the window side.

  • @farmercraig567
    @farmercraig567 ปีที่แล้ว

    Those would be opener disks on the horse drawn. They usually had pieces of chain draging behind each row as a means of closing the furrow. I beleave the front of the drill is facing the window.

    The corporate tractor has a lot of Minneapolis Moline in it which makes me curious. Is that three speed power shift similar to my G1050? In another comment you said the corporate tractor predates the Case 70 series so that would be a similar age.

    Old hard part tractor if it's like the old case tractors they are not fast but they where strong like locomotive on land I seen the old case pulling 20 plough. That was like replacing lots of horse and teamsters but still took some men to run it .

    There was an Oliver dealership in town however the brand never really got a foothold. Probably had something to do with the dealer because the Case and Massey Ferguson tractors were far more prevalent . Over the yrs I have had the privilege to get to run a couple of these and really liked them. Styling seems to leave a bit to be desired but find one restored or redone they're still pretty cool. Really appreciate your time trying to give as much history as possible! Also it blows my mind as to the technical research Oliver was doing at the time and like some had said "WHAT IF!!" Could have been a different line of tractors at the forefront today! Looking forward to seeing the next 3 videos on this.

I had a list of the Videos that they had on tape and sent them some money for them, they haven't sent any so far. If I remember correctly there were about 100 different movies. Maybe we'll have a better chance of finding something out, as you are more into Oliver than I am.

    Oliver has certainly done it’s fair share in shaping the outcome of humanity.

  • @shelbybrant77
    @shelbybrant77 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice video. How exactly did that test car work? Guessing the power unit drove the rear wheels backwards to put drag on the tractor pulling it. That Superior drill had me baffled how those disks would work but then i realized they actually have it sitting there backwards, the front is facing looking out the window not towards the inside of the rooms like the tractors are. You can see the brackets that the hitch would've bolted up to, and most of those drills were built that the lever there was on the back and curved up over the box towards the front

    I toured the plant there in 1968 with our Ag Class in school. It was a complete factory and production line. Memories I still have of walking through it watching them assemble and now I think how crude it actually was to today's standards. Way before OSHA really stuck their fingers in businesses.

    Very interesting to see that and i have to add it to my list of places to hit for sure very soon. The A4T Program and the Corp tractor is great to see something on it . I knew a cummins engine guy that had talked about White was pushing to get their engine line up and running. The deal was to make the 429 and a 900+ cubic inch V8 that could be used in trucks and tractors which would carry the plants overhead . I think with the Corp tractor had the potential and made White look more attractive to buy the brand or even the design. That prototype had the potential to compete with Deeres New Gen for sure and kept the country a different shade of green since IH had lost their lead with the 560 screw up.

    • @Oliver66FarmBoy
      @Oliver66FarmBoy  ปีที่แล้ว

      The APD engines were just the experimental engine designs that were supposed to be built at the new engine facility White was building with Hercules in Ohio. Government shut that down on grounds of a conglomeration because of all the holdings White had at the time so the APD designs never made it out of California.
