  • Troubleshooting 1985 IH 585 Hydraulics. Symptoms were as follows: Front end loader becoming slow. PTO last used 2 months ago on haybob, worked fine but would slow up when it hit a wade or lump. Power steering worked perfect at all times. In this video we identify some parts and their locations. Clean the Bypass Screen & Change the filter. Check the, PRV, Flow Divider and Bleed the System. Usual disclaimer, I am not an expert. I have read up and researched the issue and pulled together in a video format which may engage those you don't like reading.

    A great video I have an 90 case 885xl. Lift is ok. Tractor ticking over steering wheel is stiff. Have to rev for steering wheel to turn. Would you know what the problem would be?

      Start with the basics, correct hytran oil ?not milky? Filter & screen okay ? Tipping/loader pressure okay ? Maybe valve if all those okay. If you are on FB join the IH 3&4 cylinder group. Very helpful

    Looks like it could have done with being treated to a change of oil as well while you were on. Looks like it's heavily contaminated with water/condensation.

    How do you reinstall the flow divider? Just shove it back in or do the grooves need to be a certain direction. We’re running into some resistance.

    I have a case 595
    The 3 point will go up and down all day as long as there's nothing hooked up to it. When I put something on it or even just stand on the lower arms, it will go up but won't go back down.
    Does anybody out there have any ideas

    Hi JP , I’ve got a international hydro 85 for doing work around the house and it seems to be leaking a lot of hydraulic oil , it’s got two tanks at the back with one one each side but I don’t know which I need to use , would you have any clue about these tractors.

    • @jpsmith6975
      @jpsmith6975  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi..don't have that model but its surely the same arrangement as all the others. Surely oil is in the backend and the two tanks are combined diesel tanks, which often leak at the drain valves. If you have access to Facebook join IH 3&4 cyclinder, and someone in ther will have more experience with your model.

    Just got myself a 87 585xl with only 2000 hours on the clock that had sat for some years, used it for about a week or two and started to notice the loader is getting really slow, and though I should check the filter, but would I need to bleed the system after a filter change? Or did you bleed it because of those two bolts you also checked?

    When i tried to change the hydraulic filter on my 585, it poored out a lot of oil when I removed the first. Felt like I was draining the whole system? Can I prevent this somehow, or is that normal?

    • @jpsmith6975
      @jpsmith6975  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not normal. It should only shed 1/2 pint of oil. Unless it was running or is plumbed or configured differently.

      Small pipe for the power steering beside the filter. If not worried about oil spill loosen it off even and turn the steering with the tractor running. Stop the engine once the steering becomes active. Nip the pipe back up.
