Hi Graham, thanks for the informative video, and that also goes for the other videos and live sessions you do. Hopefully I can catch a live session soon rather than replay. Question regarding octane, would a percentage of meth (10 -15% ?) in the tank or a dedicated octane booster work better just to give a safety margin, say for track or spirited drives? Can you use them on a regular basis.
Thanks Peter. If mapped for, because it will need fuel added to the map, a 15 % mix is good.. If some extra power and extra safety aswell then 30%. If you are not mapping it at all for the meth, then keep the meth % below 10%.. 👍
99 octane is very competent and good-looking, while 86 octane is a bit of a buffoon who is always saying "sorry about that Chief" and "missed it by that much".
Great video but please don’t perpetuate the myth that higher octane automatically makes more power. People already waste enough of their money to marketing fluff, it’d be great for you to clarify that higher octane ratings only add value where the engine management has the ability to advance ignition to utilise it, and that in and of itself the increases will be marginal at best.
From September 2023 our Synergy Supreme+ 99 will transition to contain up to a maximum of 5% ethanol at all Esso pumps irrespective of which part of the country they are located. The labelling at our pumps will remain as E5 for Synergy Supreme+ 99 unleaded.@@ratspeedgarage

@@racedynamix thanks for the reply, and sorry for getting your name back to front Duncan, I have a good friend called Graham, that's my excuse 😜

😂👌
Please, please tell me we don't have to do a test after watching that 🤔🤯 but thanks for the explanation anyway, I think.
Exactly.. It's confusing. It would be like a gallon in the US being different to a gallon here.. Oh wait.. 😂
That confused the fuck out of a lot of people
Sorry. What do I need to explain better?
but why do we change octane mod when we import JDM ? do we really have to do that ?
Because Japanese fuel is a different quality altogether.. Really confusing eh?

Agreed 👍
Does vpower contain bioethenol and esso synergy did not until last year? Bioethenol not great
Yes it contains ethanol.. 5% in shell vpower
I don't think Esso does though? As in their 99 Octane 😂

@@ratspeedgarage I don't believe it does either 👍
Nope, in most of the UK, Shell V-Power is ethanol-free; in Devon, Cornwall and the North, it's 2-2.5%.
