Stealth, lasers, AI, portable nukes, railguns, escort drones... they're all fascinating. But the XFA-27 needs none of it. Straightforward, aggressive, agile, and absolutely unrelenting: it's my favorite of Ace Combat's unique aircraft, and I doubt that'll ever change.
It's just... perfect. The nostalgia from my childhood, the aggressive lines that could have come from macross, the beautiful simplicity of its own super weapon being just *more missiles*. It's all I could ask for and then some, and absolute pleasure to fly, and a dream come true for me.

@@exukvera I remember there was exactly ONE target in the entire game that survived the 6 missile volley this thing can pump out. IIRC, I think it was the final component on the Arsenal Bird. And I only had to wait a second or two for one more MSTM to generate to finish it off.

The simplest and most straightforward superplane! No need for fancy weapons, high performance in all aspects and enough missiles to make anyone cower in fear are all it takes for this beast to shine, and it does so while looking absolutely amazing, especially in AC7's gorgeous graphics! It took a long time for it to return to the main series, but it does so with a bang!
It's never been stated in game, but my head-canon is that the XFA-27 was essentially just the Usean government's best tech all in one plane, but they lacked the advanced weapons later crafts would have- so instead, they just focused on the payload, and as a result, you get a very simple but effective aircraft that just carries a lot of missiles. Also my head-canon is that the X-02 and the XFA-27 have a connection- either the X-02's heavy use of variable geometry was inspired by the XFA's swing-wing design, the XFA's blueprints were consulted when designing the X-02, or maybe even the X-02 was built as a counter for the XFA. While the timeline makes this a little iffy, it just seems like two big of a coincidence that *both* Usean super-fighters use varable geometry.
Amusingly, Kono stated in an interview that the XFA-27 was originally meant to have forward-swept variable-geometry wings, but they just couldn't make it work back then, so they kept the idea in the back of their heads, and when the PS2 rolled out and they were working on the X-02, they remembered that idea and had the technology to apply it.
So in a way, the XFA-27 and X-02 are indeed connected, if not in Strangereal, in the series' own history.

I've seen Count get absolutely mauled by the drone swarm in mission 6 a few times now. On my Ace run it made for a good target for the Morgan's mini-nuke

I never played an Ace Combat that had the XFA27 (aside from the 3DS one).
Played 2 missions with this monster and it skyrocketed to my favorite plane in AC7
I feel like I'd love it. My favorites are always knife fighting planes, so giving me extra weps on top of this sounds godlike

I was holding out hope that the CFA44 would get a UAV wep like the Raven, just because we got Butterfly Master stickers.
3D(AHL)/2 is kinda where the plane comes form, so saying aside from the 3DS one is kinda weird
I have a connection to it, Ace Combat 2 where it was introduced was not only my first Ace Combat game, but my first videogame ever. I didn’t even know it because all I remember doing was watching my mom and dad play (dad wasn’t that good but he flew the F-14 I later learned) and me aimlessly flying and shooting missiles. I got AC7 after getting into the arcade flight sims again with Project Wingman with a buddy. I got a giftcard and grabbed AC7 for 15$ and had an extra 5 so I picked up the XFA as well. I only learned all that after my mom walked in on me playing and filled me in that I flew it all the time as a kid, she didn’t know the name but knew exactly what it looked like. I made it a purpose for it to be my signature craft because of that
I love the DLC and that is in no small part to the XFA-27. But, if I have to be honest, there's a part of me that's glad of it because it means we get more videos from you!

Best SP weapon in this DLC. The ADMM's slow reload hold it back. With this thing, the flurry of missiles is literally nonstop until you run out of ammo. Beast of a plane.
No joke, the XFA-27 has more missiles than there are targets in most stages.

Well you can one shot drones with regular missiles anyways. But being able to 1 shot tanks/adv. tanks and take out battle cruisers with 6 missiles instead of 8 makes life so much easier. On top of only taking down tougher aircraft with just 2 missiles. 😄
@@Viviana088 Not to mention u can 4 shot the railgun & tank of Alicorn, three shot the sub-propeller (4 for main) of Arsenal bird. U can use this weapon in so many way.... Not to mention a weapon that can two shot tougher aircraft but fail to 1 shot the drone (yes, I am talking HCAA)
I remember flying this air raft on Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy. It was one of the hardest aircraft to fly as its manoeuvres it did was that quick that you usually gauge a slight delay until you hit the direction you wanted. This aircraft did it in a matter of microseconds. Absolutely ace and manoeuvrable and glad they added it on the game.

Standoff bomblet dispensers are about as dumpy as ground attack weapons get too...can't complain that I'm "forced" to fly it with millions of missiles just like old times in the campaign mode though, I guess.
At first I thought it was a letdown that the XFA's signature SP weapon was four standard missiles, but getting to pummel opponents with a hail of munitions and just trying that for myself made me understand. I think it's because in Cross Rumble when they were first trying this out, they gave you way too few to work with.
Yeah, the faster sp weapon reload made the entire plane for me
Do the Standard Missile parts affect the MSTMs? or are they different.

XFA-27 was my first 'super plane' on AC series when I played AC2 so it holds a lot of memories for me. I remember spamming missiles on AC2 using this plane lol.
I really like the XFA-27. When comes to sheer utility, there's nothing more satisfying than unleashing four all-purpose missiles at your discretion. It was one of the late-game highlights of AC3, and it's just as fun here.

Not really. It's got thrust vectoring and the find on the nose so PSM would be easy

these vids have sold me on picking up this pack for black friday, I was on the fence initially but shooting nonstop missiles looks way too fun.
I'm waiting for it to transform into Battle-droid mode the whole time..
I still favor the Wyvern...it was the one plane that you could LITERALLY..outrun your own missiles with....in fact..if you were going fast enough..they immediately fell off behind you like bombs..so the enemy would see you passing them before the missiles you launched trailing behind made contact..

On other planes the missile warning is for you. In the XFA-27 the missile warning is for the enemy.
I know it's probably not correct, but I like to imagine that "MSTM" stands for "More STandard Missiles"

BLOCK PLANE FLIES AGAIN
The XFA is definitely the highlight of this collection of planes. It's got great performance, good special weapons (save for the worthless SOD) and is all around just a gud.
It's got a new special weapon that's basically just more missiles that are slightly stronger than the normal missiles, and it also has IEWS because... Okay. This thing definitely competes with the Morgan due to this.
Overall, the XFA is as simple as it is blocky. A solid A-tier plane that can be used in any operation because of how versatile its unique weapon is. And it's got IEWS in case you want to trade that for ultra accurate normal missiles. Or if you're playing multiplayer with a Raven flier and just want to ruin the other team.
15 min in to realize it's not a valkyrie and it's not gonna transform.
Couldn't find my PS1 so I played AC2 on my PS2 without memory. So everytime I played the game, I would start over. Beat the game in about 3-4 hours for both campaigns and got all the planes. Man that was fun. Miss those days. They were a simpler time.
Oof, same here, but with Air Combat. Though that was just a couple of times, most often my mate who owned the PS1 just wanted to play Gran Turismo.
hi tuga, so the best way to use the xfa27 is to keep alternate switching between norm missiles and specials? trying to adapt with it. had no problems with shinden and nosferatu

Did Scald always get shot down in this mission? I was playing it last night and he got shot down then too, but I feel like I had not heard that dialogue before, at least not in the foreground. Maybe they made some voicelines changes in this update too, some quality of life stuff so lines get talked over less.
Yeah Scald gets shot down and Huxian gets severely damaged, always.
You can't hear the radio chatter clearly sometimes, that's something I've noticed after (re)playing AC7 quite a bit, there's just so much going on that radio chatter overlays with one another, and occasionally they're "important" ones too

Star Wars : Squadrons can't even hold a candle to how life-like they bring to the radio chatter in this series. Seriously, they perform their lines in that game (Star Wars Squadrons) like they are reading it instead of performing it.
And this game came out years before the current gen...

While I love the Shinden in Design, I have to admit my HCAA Rafale is looking real Jealous of the XFA-27.
I also loved the Shinden's design UNTIL I played it in ACI and realized how dumb it was. Now I'm an XFA-27 fan until death lol

The XFA-27 looks like one of those jet from the show Gundam
XFA-27: Allied Forces Last Hope in the 1997-1998 Continental War. The fighter with which "Phoenix" ended the war against the coup d'état. Combine the F-14 with the shapes and maneuverability of stealth fighters. Due to classified information, it is unknown where it was made (possibly the FCU) or who produced it (possibly the General Resource).
The problem is that the XFA-27 was only used once. And the subsequent conflicts was not present. And "Phoenix" preferred its F-22A. And the MTSM missiles could go to the two-seater F-22B.
The XFA-27 is a stealth fighter operating from an aircraft carrier. The CFA-44 was not successful. The only successful on-board fighter with stealth technology is the Lockheed Martin F-35C Lightning II. It is used not only by OMDF, but also by the naval aviation of other countries in the world Ace Combat (Additional skins: "Emmeria", "Aurelia", "Salamander", "Rapier").
I would like to ask you about the rating of Ace Combat Zero skins. While the F-15C "Cipher" and Rafale M "Espada" are as they should be, the skins of the Belkan Air Force, and more specifically the markings, are a surprise. But in relation to the YF-23 "Wizard" I have doubts. Did the OADF exist before 1995 or did it arise only as a result of the reform of the armed forces after this terrible conflict?
It seems that in the entirety of the Ace Combat universe, aircraft development ramped up quicker than in our own. The ADFX-01 Morgan, a fighter that had high tech jamming, nuclear missiles, lasers, and could easily beat an F-22, was made in 1995. The F-22 and 23 were possibly fully operational during the 80’s in the Ace Combat universe.
Pretty sure Phoenix used the XFA-27 after the coup d'état. It's his signature plane and one he uses in X when you fight (and inevitably lose) against him. It's the *ONLY* fictional aircraft made specifically for a signature pilot, and it appears in games that featured Phoenix either as the player or the superboss.

XFA-27 and CFA-44 are the aircrafts i'm looking for the most.
XFA-27 has MSTM for combo with standard missiles
CFA-44 has ADMM for 'eating' many enemies at the same times.
i'm looking forward on buying them but i guess i better wait for 50-75% sales.

The ASF-X Shinden isn't as powerful, but it's a joy to fly. It's extremely stable, kind of an "easy mode" aircraft for beginners, but it feels almost relaxing to fly.

IMO maybe it doesn't have fancy special weapons, but this plane lives up to it's name as the first original super plane of ace combat franchise

Sometimes, simple stuffs are better, the hability to fire 4 missiles to both air or ground target is more effective than a freaking laser, or a mini nuke, the XFA-27 has beat the test of time, even been over 2 decades old, this aircraft is just... fantastic!
Sometimes i imagine that this is how the F-14 would have become if U.S decided to make an advanced Stealth, fith generation version xD

A lot of the "super F-14" concepts I've seen do look quite a bit like, and I think I read somewhere it was also an inspiration for the XFA.

I always thought MSTMs have something different with Standard Missiles, but no. The only thing different is that MSTM can shoot 4 missiles while missile can shoot 2 so actually it's 6 missiles if it's ever one

It's the first original aircraft in Ace Combat, the playable superplane in Ace Combat 2. It made a return in a few games since then.

It is kind of a shame that MSTM dont get buff from normal MSL upgrade parts.
EDIT: after a bit of testing it seem that it won't get upgrade from SP upgrade too? I put in range lock on and it still sit at 2000 metres.
Imagine having four parts apply to all of your weapons. Goddamn that'd be crazy.
Even Project ACES knows that'd be overkill. There'd be no reason to use any other aircraft in the game. You'd see absurdly fast speed runs of the game.
Shame the MSTM is a special weapon at all and not the plane's default weapon, like it was in 2 and X.
