    I’m surprised that no one has mentioned that Michael’s hair and mustache are similar to JJ Jameson’s which explains why he’s bullying Dan who is similar to Spider-Man.

    This episode really shows why I love Dan so much. He is such a spider-man fanboy, but is not ignoring his faults. He lists them before he goes on his emotional rant. That really showcases his understanding of the character before he expresses his opinion.

      The man is DESIGNED to lose. He fails constantly to protect or provide or preserve his loved ones. His struggle to maintain his super-life and his basic human struggle is why so many are drawn to him.
      The guy saves busloads of people and still struggles to pay rent.

    "He should've patented the web-shooters"
    But...he was 15.
    Now as someone in his mid-20s (in current canon comics) he's doing the whole Parker Industries thing.

      +Gabriel Kenney It's not about legality. If you were 15, and you had super spider powers, and you were struggling to balance a whole secret double life with school and your aunt and uncle; as one of whom not long after got murdered thus setting you on a path of self-discovery and moral-enlightenment; in a world that was soon acquainted to mutants, other super-beings, alien invasions, planet-eating-entities and all that... Also, girls you finally, finally learned to talk to and friends with drug-problems and girlfriend's father's death followed by her own and so forth... Do you think patenting his spidery inventions would be on his teenage mind?
      Furthermore, now with his own company, he's done exactly that in the comics. Marvel-616 citizens now know Peter Parker as not only the photographer for Spider-Man but also the dude who's built stuff for Spidey to be used in his crime-fighting.
      So he did think of it and do it, but only when he'd become an adult with awareness and knowledge to do so. As a reader I think this makes sense for his youthful, lighthearted, non-money-hungry, down-to-earth character.
      Sorry for the long reply.
      P.S. Name-twin high-five!

    • @GKEnder
      @GKEnder 8 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Yeah, that actually makes a lot more sense. Superhuman reflexes & strength don't necessarily lend themselves to superhuman priority management, long-term thinking, or intellectual property protection. :)
      *HIGH FIVE*

      @gabymoekoe 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      +Gabriel Kenney EXACTLY! LoL that's the thing about early-years Pete.
      He's all about responsibility, but sometimes he gets caught up in his insecurities and "dives headfirst"; ending up making questionable decisions despite being a certified boy genius.
      I mean, I love all those recklessness and social alienation that made him relatable from Stan Lee & Ditko's Spidey-era-but I'm also happy he's grown up now, because that's what the character was always meant to do.
      (Sad that some people are actually rooting against him succeeding just because of some perceived mis-delivery on Marvel's creative team's part.)

    I'm not a big Spider-Man fan. I don't dislike him but I have never given much love to Peter or Spidey. But Dan's rant at the end of this opened my eyes, I never understood Spider-Man's pain and hardship he subjects himself to because a Spider-Man is needed. I thought he was a jackass who never grew up; I didn't like that he was - to me - an annoying and foolish looser. But unlike all of the people that enter his life and learn a lesson from, or, by being around him, move on and grow, Peter is trapped. He hides who he really is, is hated by the world he protects, and experiences failures in his personal life because of a commitment so grand that it would break any man who would shoulder it. I didn't know how beautiful this character and story is. Well done Cracked and Dan O'Brien, you changed me.

    What I really like about Spider-Man is he's essentially a sidekick. He's not a sidekick for any established, confident super hero. There IS no super hero. It's like, can you imagine Robin cleaning up Gotham City by himself? So the draw to Spider-Man is seeing someone who's constantly in over his head, hated by everyone he fights to protect.... but still does it anyway.
    If you think about it, he's the most selfless superhero around.

      +nunya2587 j jonah Jameson, is biased and judgmental. plus he doesn't really hate superman he just prefers the idea of spiderman being a villain simply cause it sells better. plus his newspaper actually effects a lot of his readers and causes a lot of hate and doubt concerning batman. the characters who matter, the ones we see know better but everyone else not so much and you can understand why. it's not like spiderman 's heroic exploits are tooted by the media or newspapers. he genuinely does it for the good of all with very selfless intentions despite everyone taking a dump on him for it. which is why the second spiderman movie with Toby mcguire is so compelling. it answers the question of what if spidey just stopped. what if any superhero just stopped really.

    Ok, lets do this.
    1. Spider-Man keeps his identity secret from Aunt May because he's afraid the stress created by her knowing he's in mortal danger all the time would hurt her. He tells his girlfriends eventually, if it gets serious, but obviously not at first (imagine revealing your most personal and incriminating secret to someone you're just starting to go out with and may end up hating you if it's a messy breakup or something).
    2. Peter needs a flexible job (in terms of time and location) so that he can be Spider-Man at a moment's notice. Also, being a photographer for a newspaper gives him access to potential threats and their details forming within the city (and access to previous records to help him in his detective work).
    3. Pretty much every hero and villain in the Marvel Universe has something to do with technology/science/progress (with the exception of non-powered and mystical characters). That stuff isn't evil, it's a source of power (and with great power comes great responsibility; I had to say it).
    4. Spider-Man's web-shooters are not that useful without the strength, agility, durability, and omnipresent sense to back them up. Web slinging would dislocate your shoulders, anything you wanted to grab would now be covered in web, super villains could use the webline against you once you've hit them (because they're stronger), it couldn't be used as a building material or anything because it dissolves in an hour or two. You'd be able to neutralize enemies with nonlethal force, but there's already tonnes of inventions to do that; besides, once you've webbed the suspect, what are you going to do in terms of transportation now that they're covered in web? It's way easier to use tasers, tear gas, pepper spray, etc and then arrest them than having to cut them free of the web and then put them in handcuffs so you can move them.
    I've got some pretty big problems with Dan's defence of Spidey too, but I won't go into them since it is technically a defence.

      @bronsoncarder2491 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In the comics, Spider-Man is sometimes seen using a spray that can dissolve the webbing instantly.
      Also, it dissolving in an hour was a feature Peter built into it. He could likely formulate a more permanent solution.
      Tasers can malfunction and cause much more pain than is necessary, or can simply be used maliciously for that purpose. Tear gas and pepper spray have the same cruelty issue, not to mention that some people can be allergic to them. Plus any gas based weapon is going to be much more difficult to control. Easy to hurt people who aren't even involved.
      Webbing solves all of these issues.
      You do make a good point, with them being much more effective for people with super strength. But, coupled with a powered exoskeleton, webbing would allow police some kind of weapon against superpowered individuals, when guns are ineffective. As is, the police force is shown to be entirely helpless against supervillains.
      Also, and I'm surprised this never comes up... Peter Parker knows a brilliant biologist and geneticist. Dr. Connor. Sure, he becomes the Lizard later, but even then he retains his intelligence.
      ...so, why hasn't he ever tried to reverse engineer his superpowers?
      His blood could be used, in conjunction with the spider that bit him, to formulate a super soldier serum. Create an army of Spider-Men.
      I always wondered, did the lab that spider came from ever find out that they made a massive breakthrough that could have made them trillions of dollars?
      We'll never know, because Peter Parker was too "awkward" (read: selfish) to come forward with his knowledge.
      ...btw, Peter Parker is my favorite hero, so I'm definitely not just making fun of him. It's just interesting to think about what could have been. Lol

    • @timothycarney9652
      @timothycarney9652 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I completely agree with 1,2 and 3, but for 4 the big thing is that the web shooters are an example of Peter's intellect that could be applied better, instead of solely in the risky role of superhero making gadgets and foiling villians- which is refuted by the comics themselves eventually, I think he has a company now?
      For Dan's defense, it all boils down to the biggests flaws of Spiderman as a character existing because the writers keep trying to have him be that teenager in over his head, when they let him move on those flaws disappear. Though I am not up to date on the comics so take this position with more than a few grains of salt.

  • @emmdoubleyou
    @emmdoubleyou 8 ปีที่แล้ว +87

    Spider-man did actually attempt to sell the web fluid when he was short on money fairly early on, however the buyers backed out when they realised it isnt permanent, i.e. the web disintegrates after a while

    • @Jirodyne
      @Jirodyne 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Wouldn't that be good? Isn't the webbing so strong that nearly no one can break it? If it didn't go away after a while. They would attach people to the walls or flood, and cover their faces, then those people would die from lack of food and water, and be unable to move.
      It makes no sense that THAT would be the reason. Also you would wonder if those buyers ever put two and two together. Someone invited web shooting, then days later hey, there is this superhero spider that is shooting those exact same webbings. Also after he starts using it, showing it works, wouldn't they want to use that too, seeing it actually working, especially against super villains who are much more stronger and dangerous than normal criminals?

    • @emmdoubleyou
      @emmdoubleyou 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Peter Parker went to the buyers in Spider-Man form (not normal clothes). The buyers essentially wanted to sell a new type of very strong adhesive - so it makes sense that they were unhappy with the fact the webbing (glue to them) was non permanent

    • @Jirodyne
      @Jirodyne 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Warbo Entertainment Oh, well then Duh. Selling it as glue/adhesive is stupid. They were talking about selling it to the Military and Cops to use as non-lethal weaponry. Even just to private military, or companies to use for security.
      How about his OWN company in the newer spiderman comics, does his own company's security have non-lethal web shooting weapons? Especially since we know it DOES work on some villains, and most criminals.

    • @emmdoubleyou
      @emmdoubleyou 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Who was talking about selling to military?

  • @PowerPackers90
    @PowerPackers90 9 ปีที่แล้ว +154

    Ok to clear up a few things.
    1.) Peter HAS tried to sell his web shooters in the comics, but gets laughed out by investors "cause he invented a glue that only last an hour"
    2.) In the comics while alot a science based villains, that not cause tech= evil in the marvel universe. it cause in the 60's when they heroes and villains were made it was in the height of nuclear war fears of the cold war, and in the "coming home" story line from 15 years ago. Ezekiel Sims an older man with Spider powers. gave a mythic reason of a spider god doing it. saying "what was it Peter, Did Radiation give you the spider's powers, or did radiation just kill the spider that was already giving them to you,"
    3.) MJ has always known he was Spider-man in the comics since Amazing Fantasy (yes I know that was a recon)
    4.) Peter doesn't tell Aunt May cause he doesn't know if her health can handle it,and the few times she found she had "died" (Amazing Spider-Man 400) or been shot (Marvel Civil War)
    5.) only a few villain know Peter is Spider-man, and currently in the comics only Dr. Octopus knows, but he's dead. but before Civil War the only villains that knew where the Green Goblins (Norman and Harry), Jackal, Venom, and Scorpion. out of 100's of villains only 5 found out. and currently only 1 knows.
    and 6.) Peter could not be Spider-Man, and make money of his abilities. but he doesn't cause "With Great Power, comes great responsibility" having power isn't about making money of them. He goes out there every night trying to make sure that he uses he powers to help those in need, because the one time he didn't his uncle was killed. So Peter risks his life for everyone.

      Another thing "Parker Industries". Currently in the comics Peter owns his own company, Similar to Tony Stark (minus the drinking, and screwing random women). Not only has he used that company for making Spider-Man tech, but he also CAME UP WITH A SUPER PRISON FOR SUPER VILLAINS, THAT GIVES THEM REBAH, AND CAN CURE THEM OF THEIR SUPER POWERS! He even gave an ex super villain "Clash" a job at his company. Cause everyone needs a second chance.

    As pointed out, most of these point fall under the category of 'Peter being a stupid teen'
    1: Why didn't he tell his loves ones who he was? At the time he didn't want Aunt May to worry herself to death about him, and did eventually tell those close to him like MJ.
    2: Peter took pic's of Spidey because as a teen supported by a widow on a fixed income he needed money, and taking pics of himself as Spidey was the best job he could get where he didn't have to punch a clock and like Superman it allowed him to stay informed on breaking crime
    3: All the villains representing science being bad. This is a staple of the superhero genre.. Nearly all heroes face villains who's powers come from the same source. X-men faces mutants, Cap faces political nuts, Thor faces dark magic, Hulk faces radiation monsters, Batman faces people who don't have power, ect.
    4: Peter did try to sell his formula and was turned down because it dissolves in an hour, the webbing has been show to be far less versatile without super strength, and there have been many stories that have explored the idea of Peter using his brains to peruse a carrier as a top scientists, including having him be part of brain trust and working for Stark.
    Also as pointed out. MOST superheroes aren't allowed to grow up. Hell One More Day was created specifically because the editors hated that Peter had been allowed to grow up, and wanted to to to retcon the last 20 years and make him an awkward teen again.

      Edward DeGuzman
      I honestly wish that was the case.
      OMD happened because the head of Marvel, Joe Quesada, hated that Spider-man had grown up, that he wasn't the same Spider-man he read when he was a kid.
      So he threw a tantrum and forced them to make Peter single again simply so Peter could have the same romantic and financial trouble he had when Quesada was reading him. Then to throw salt in the wound issue 1 after OMD had Peter shaking up with a new character based on Quesada's daughter.
      It was basically bad fanfiction made canon.

  • @Xylarxcode
    @Xylarxcode 8 ปีที่แล้ว +185

    Hasn't it already been well established numerous times that if Spider-Man stopped being Spider-Man and ignored his powers to focus on his studies and be more like Peter Parker that he would be among the smartest and most successfull people on the planet? I don't know how high Peter Parker ranks in the Marvelverse of hyperintelligent people, but it's gotta be pretty high up.
    Being Spider-Man is exactly what's holding him back from achieving success, be it in the field of science, social life or romance but like Daniel said, he was a teenager when he got his powers. He wanted fame and cool powers and the public's adoration. By the time he figured out that Spider-Man was more of a detriment to his life then a help, he was already too deep in. He had already made enemies and achieved notoriety, but he had also already made himself a hero to the smallfolk. He's the guy who helps the common New Yorker as much as the one fighting supervillains. He's the guy that stops the purse snatcher or rapist in a dark alley as much as he is the guy that gets his reputation smeared by the Bugle. By the time he figured out how deep the shit he was in actually was, it was too late to just stop being Spider-Man. Basically, from the moment Uncle Ben died, he was destined to remain Spider-man, with all the good and bad that comes with it.

    • @SuperSongbird21
      @SuperSongbird21 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Sorry, but this argument is flawed. Yes, Peter's priorities changed when Uncle Ben was shot and his double-life as Spider-Man gets in the way of his personal/professional life, but Peter was a guilt-racked nerd from year dot. Even without super-heroics he always worries whether he's doing the right thing and whether he's a good person, so even without his secret identity he'd probably still be an emotional train wreck. You ever read Marvel's "What If" comics - there's loads where Peter never gets super-powers but still has the same internal turmoil (and, in a lot of them, still becomes a hero).

      +Xylarxcode Yeah, actually right now he owns Parker Industries. He is essentially Tony Stark right now. Still Spidey-ing it up but is a multi-multi-multi-billionare. So yeah as of the last, idk 5 years in comics, he isnt anything like how main stream fans think he is. All nerdy and self doubting. He is confident, swag as fuck, has had many different girlfriends, rolling in dough, and not hated by anyone really other than JJJ. Which is funny considering JJJ is/was married to Aunt May lololol

      MegaHI32 I'm a huge fan of most of the things they talk about and I don't really mind that they askew the facts a bit sometimes because these sketches are basically dome for comedic effect. an exaggeration of the real thing. not to be taken genuinely and I like seeing the things I love be challenged. sure sometimes the cross the line for me (I couldn't watch the Lord of the rings episode at all) but I love that these videos are basically just people who do love the source material but just want to make us laugh about them
      it's the same thing behind cinema sins or the movie trailer series.

So,what do you think?

    Spider-Man is probably the greatest hero of all time along with Captain America and Superman.
    Ironman is probably the most efficient though as he:
    Has no problem with killing unlike Spider-Man who thinks its "immoral"
    Has no code of honor that keeps him from being a few steps above his enemies unlike Captain America who prefers his shield over a high tech suit of armor.
    He isn't afraid of being in charge nor will he EVER be anybody's lap dog unlike Superman.(Red Son, Dark Knight Returns)
    His only problem is that he's always wrong but that's what he has Cap for I guess. He'd totally clean up Gotham City in a month though.

It was also the point of Alan Moore's Dr. Manhattan. Moore just took the all powerful government lapdog to its logical end. Yes, Superman has developed more of a backbone, but that is a response to previous criticism, and to a degree remains a part of his character. Take him renouncing his US citizenship for example. He didn't actually stand up to the government, nether The US's nor Iran's, and allowed both to continue the mistreatment of their people.

    What about Venom? Carnage? Toxin? That annoying period of time in which Spider-Man was fighting vampires with Black Cat? That's not science creating villains. Besides, most of the Marvel characters are created based on whatever new science at the time was coming up. Gamma radiation led to Hulk, other radiation led to Spider-Man, mutation led to X-Men. It's sort of Stan Lee's trademark, using whatever is unknown at the time and pretending it is capable of turning people into superhumans.

In the "One More Day" storyline, Peter was given the chance at a happy family, married to Mary Jane, and the possibility of a daughter, the only down side was Aunt May passing away; however, even after Aunt May told Peter that she was happy to be able to see Uncle Ben again, Peter still did the unthinkable and made a bargain with Mephisto where Peter's current happiness and marriage was traded away so Peter could undo everything and return to a life before hand. To a time where Peter did not have his totemic powers, Aunt May was alive, and no longer married.

    Correction: Spiderman is an adult who grew up in a very unfortunate life without his parents. He had to grow up at one point in order to make it on his own, even when Uncle Ben tried to tell him something. Eventually, Peter Parker would have to take on the responsibility of saving the world even if it meant being hated, because some people are too busy living in their own worlds due to what they were taught as children. In some cases, Spiderman dealt with issues we as the audience would come to understand and love about Peter, especially in Ultimate Spiderman.
    In retrospect, he may have the heart of a kid, but he's a mature adult who might secretly wish life wasn't complicated for him and his loved ones. Because just like Dan, who is also important to many people like myself because we relate in many ways, even though I also relate to Kate, Michael and Soren too, because he deserves to be loved and respected like everyone else.
    Peter Parker is just a misunderstood soul like everyone else in the world. Just like him, the superheroes do their best to protect humanity and their loved ones from hurt, even if it means getting hurt in the process. We are all unique in our own way, especially Spiderman. He may be hated by some people, but others choose to love and support him. Those who hate him and the other protectors of our world probably weren't used to different things and people who are different from them.

    Just realized this years later but the reason spider-man cant sell his web-shooters is because no one else can use it. You need super-strength to use the webs due to their tensile strength

      You don't need super strength to restrain a bad guy with them, it would be like a net gun but better. You only need the strength if you're flinging yourself off buildings to swing around which arguably would be the dumbest practical application of web shooters for a regular person.

    You know, he's got a point. Why is it the writers of Spider-Man have NEVER let him grow up and mature? Sure, he's aged. Heck, he's even died... multiple times! But emotionally, he is still a high school kid who is constantly bullied and ridiculed and in general has a sucktastic life. Other main characters of Marvel have evolved and matured over the years. Spider-Man has not and probably will never be able to, because the writers don't know how to possibly make Peter Parker an adult now. Look, I love Spider-Man, he's my favorite hero period. But for the love of Stan Lee, will the writers please be realistic. After everything he's been through, the Peter Parker should be the most mature adult on the planet, not a whiny, selfish teenager.

    • @AJVersatility19
      @AJVersatility19 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's probably his character. If they never made him grow up, it's because they never intended him to. It's not like Marvel writers know character development, except when they have to write Spidey comics. I'm pretty sure they choose not to for a reason. He's somewhat of a timeless demographic. Struggling teenagers who have to deal with school/love/responsibility etc. You could pretty much reshape that and market it again for every coming generation.

    • @Roserae16
      @Roserae16 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I can see that. But at the same time, he's developed in other ways - he finished high school, went to college and graduated, got married to MJ and a bunch of other things I can't remember right now. More than that, the readers have grown up, gone to college, gotten married, etc. so why hasn't the character? I admit, Linkara first raised this point and I'm partially quoting here, but I think he's right. Everyone else in the Marvel universe gets to change and mature and grow emotionally, even freaking immortal Wolverine, but not Spider-Man. My simple question is this: why? And darn it I want a good answer!

    • @AJVersatility19
      @AJVersatility19 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rae Prite A good answer might not come forward. Lol so let's treat it as one of those it's better if we don't know, situations. I'm 22 right now, so I haven't really "grown" out of Spiderman yet. But I'm sure once I hit my 30s I'll start to get irked at why he hasn't gotten his shit together yet.

    • @Roserae16
      @Roserae16 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      *Sigh* Probably not. I haven't either (20 btw) and I can't say if I'll ever get sick of Spider-Man completely, I'd just like a little bit more realism once in a while. Or at least one day when some character - Iron Man maybe, or Mr. Fantastic - just looks at Spidey and says 'you know, your life is pretty messed up, and you still act like you're 18. Why is that? How are you not properly bitter and angry at the world by now, given how much crap you've been through? Logically it makes no sense'. And with absolute seriousness, Spider-Man will reply, 'no, it doesn't make sense'. I doubt that will ever happen, but still, one can dream.

    • @AJVersatility19
      @AJVersatility19 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rae Prite You would think tho, with all these Spiderman alternates and timelines, one of them would explore what would happen if he grew up. I mean only thing they explore is how more fucked up they can make his life.

    Nozergram Gaming I just read your comment thread dissing Batman for not having any superpowers, while praising two others just as powerless because they have flashier toys. Green Lantern? Willpower? Please, Batman's will is just as strong and he could use it far better. Iron Man? Without his suit, he's a horrible fighter, and remove his arc reactor, and he's dying. Even after his lifesaving surgery he still couldn't fight without his armor. Neither one has a quarter of Batman's tactical genius or combat experience independent of any artificial enhancements. remove their special gadgets and they're merely human, and vulnerable. Take away Batman's gadgets and he's still a master martial artist beyond any real human ever, as well as a brilliant detective, tactician and warrior. His being able to defeat Superman isn't so unbelievable when you consider that Superman's most persistent nemesis is Lex Luthor, who brought Superman to his knees multiple times without even Batman's combat ability. You forget, Superman has a weakness.
    Power doesn't make the super hero; it never did, that's how villains think. It doesn't matter what kind of power you have or where it comes from; it only matters _what you do with it!_. If all you care about is the flash and glitter of superpowers, you *missed the point!*

      zemorph42 Hello. Its been a while since I have used youtube. Ive been at comicons. IRONICALLY, talking about superheros. Listen. You look at these superheros, and you treat them like they are real. Are super heros real? No. Iron man, I admit, under many circumstances WOULD loose to batman. But, only if batman had his full arsenal. Batman, hands alone, would not be able to do that. Now, green lantern, I believe is much better than batman. And not only because he can do much more, but he actually has a mystical, flashy story line. One that I look for in a super hero. Im not dissing batman. Im simply saying that he is NOT, a super hero. In fact, I LOVE batman. Batman is AMAZING to me. HE just IS NOT a super hero.Just because he knows martial arts, does not mean that he is gonna kick ass left and right. Spider man would easily outmatch batman. With or without his arsenal.
      Now, to the point. You saying that powers are not the point. Well, let me introduce you to BUSINESS. Now, im gonna look at your profile picture, and assume you at LEAST 30 years old, maybe in your 20's. I really hope your not though, because if so, well, thia is just sad for your age. But, anyway. Superheros. SUPER-heroes. They have powers man. POWERS. Thats what separates super-heroes from heroes. Batman is a hero. NOT, a super hero. super heroes have super powers so they appeal to the audience. Super powers sell. If I go by your logic, I could say, "There once was a 9 year old who went to karate class and learned how to defend himself. HE IS NOW A SUPER HERO!!!" Yea thats not how it works. So you can do one of 2 things now. Either keep arguing, fighting in a battle you already lost. Or, you could realize your ACTUALLY in the wrong, and call it quits. But, im guessing your gonna keep going, seeing that you act as though your a 12 year old. So, I eagerly await your reply. ^-^

      Nozergram Gaming How come Lex Luthor managed to become a super villain _with no powers!_ Lex had exactly the same advantage as Bruce; both were filthy rich and both super geniuses, yet Lex gets to be super and Batman doesn't? Double standard in favor of the bad guy. As long as Lex Luthor gets to be called a super villain, I'm going to call Batman a super hero.
      Yes, I do know they aren't real; I talk about them in the context of their respective universes.
      No, going to karate class wouldn't make anyone a superhero, But if they MASTER more than 7 different martial arts, as well as forensics and strategy, they're getting close.
      _But, anyway. Superheros. SUPER-heroes. They have powers man. POWERS_
      _green lantern...actually has a mystical, *flashy* story line. One that I look for in a super hero._

      zemorph42 you are so right though he’s just a man, right? That’s not to say that Batman doesn’t have a superpower. His mind is his power; within it lurks a deadly, but prefectly balanced combination of insurmountable anguish, indomitable conviction, unparalleled genius and just a sprinkling of mental instability. Rarely in comics do plight and power marry so seamlessly.

    Spider-Man is my favorite super hero of all time! I find that he is the most relatable, for me anyway, of all the super hero's out there because of all the challenges he faces in his day to day life with his uncle dying and being a teenager while trying to protect the ones he loves and still finding time for school villains and family and keeping it all secret. He has probably the hardest life out of any of the super hero's which I think makes even better and more relatable.

      ***** Many of the animated series make him a high-school teen in his last years. Some make him at best a college student.
      Same for the movies, he simply is not allowed to grow up, which is kind of the real problem of the character. He is a Peter Pan that is forced to stay in Neverland by the writers while he himself seems to actually really like to grow up. As he is often portrait as someone who actually learns from his life lessons and constantly is growing up. He just gets rebooted so often.
