  • Here’s a funky contratiempo thing with a Clave-like golpe technique we do for flamenco guitar that can be used in a surprising amount of places. It takes a little getting used to, but once you have it down you can use it in Farruca, Tangos, Bulerias and anywheres else you find a way to fit it in.

I'm learning so much from these vids and I am like wow okay I can play this part now and this and that, I thought lets get some vocals to go with it.. so I put on Camarón de la Isla to copy that and am just floored at the speed and ease of the accompaniment... hmm maybe at 0,75x

Yeah, trying to keep up with Paco is something we all have to come to terms with along this journey 🙄

@@FlamencoExplained I don't even think it was Paco on the accompaniment but one of the many other Spanish players. I saw Paco once with his septet and yeah that was something else.
There's also this clip of Estrella Morente and family jamming in the living room and at the end there's a brief moment where she and all the nanas sing together and that just gives me goosebumps.
And thanks, good vids, I'm binging them and recommending them to players.

Thanks for sharing; i'm new to flamenco and my index interferes with the strings when going up although my nails are not long at all

Hey Kai, any videos on Tremolo technique? Ive had problems with doing rest stroke for the thumb bass notes and find myself doing free stroke by mistake.

Why not to count down as a cycle 12312312 ?

      Was thinking the same for the Farruca: "1 & a 2 & a 3 &" (where 1, 2 and 3 are golpes).
Although I often think I've figured out a better way of counting (eg siguiriyas) only to finally revert to the way the Spanish have done it for decades...

This is undoubtedly used in some Colombianas.
