  • A really quick flamenco guitar tutorial introducing the basic flamenco forms, including Soleá, Soleá por Buleria, Buleria, Tientos, Tangos, Rumba, Alegrias, Seguirilla, Guajiras, Farruca, Colombiana, Taranto, Taranta and Fandango de Huelva. Not all of the Palos, but a good intro to some of the more common ones.

    Simply brilliant: I´m afraid I had to search for an english speaking video to really understand my own culture. You convey a very complex message rather simply and preciselly. ¡Muchas gracias maestro !

      Petter Houting You probably don’t know that @BenWoods is one of the best legit flamenco players in this country. People assume that because he chooses to play his own music he’s not, but Ben knows his stuff cold and has chosen a path that is uniquely his own. You may not love what he does, but in addition to being insanely talented and inventive Ben knows and respects flamenco. He certainly has my respect.

    Hey Kai, I just bought your book (excellent btw - best I've seen) ... is there an online component that has the examples played as they should be...?? Or, a program to follow on from it?? If not, where should i start with your website ?? I am not a beginner so can jump right in. Time is my enemy though. Look forward to your thoughts.... Cheers.

    Hi -- thanks for all the videos !
    Does one of them talk about "por arriba" and "por medio" ?
    (is it p.a. = E phrygian, p.m. = A phrygian ?)

    • @FlamencoExplained
      @FlamencoExplained  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep - that's right. But it's the chord shapes and not the actual key that determines it, so wherever the capo is, if you're playing the E Phrygian shapes you're Por Arriba, etc..

    Not being familiar with Flamenco guitar technique, l found this didn’t work as an introduction.
    Some written notation onscreen with each example, played slowly, would have helped a lot.

    Maybe im just a complete idiot but I really struggle with the timing. In general it sounds like people just shout numbers 1-12 and play anything

    • @mayaralshofe3498

      You are probably not.. it's just that the feel comes along naturally.
      You should always prefect the simple stuff to able to advance in the flamenco world.

    • @deldia
      @deldia 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You just have to keep practicing. Start feeling those major beats. Obviously it massively helps to play to a really clear backing track. I also find it hard sometimes.

    • @petterhouting7484
      @petterhouting7484 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      10-12 is always has the same thing with playing the home chord as an arpeggio in solea and solea por buleria. Buleria has this sometimes but it sounds different so dont focus on it there. Seguiriya has it too but from 3-6.
      Buleria only plays chords on the accents.

    Your camera person is the worst. Your instructional video could be better if you just keep the camera shot on both hands, & the guitar. Thanks for the excellent explanations.
