Isolated House Wren chick is reunited with siblings

We watched sadly as one of the five chicks in this House Wren nest fell out of the nest cup and into a corner of the nest box. It happened sometime on June 19 and the chick spent the night in the corner. Rarely, a parent fed it during the next 12 hours, but not at the frequency required to keep it healthy. Dr. Kellam was on his way over to the box to move the chick back into the nest when it finally tumbled into the nest itself (at 3:42). Now back to where it should be, the chick has a better chance at survival, though it appears to be the smallest chick and may be forced out of the nest again. Out of competition for food and space, siblings can indeed push one another out of a bird nest; this is documented in many bird species.
