They’re amazing. Geoff did the scream on stage and held the base throughout, Eli sounded amazing as always, Layne made it fun with his percussions, Ashley sang her heart out and Cesar kept that beautiful sentimentality in his voice. Overall top notch. Only if it wasn’t recorded from a phone at the very back row…
I agree about the sound. And the way Disney dressed them! I couldn’t believe it.
By the way, this wasn’t their first live performance since Covid. A few months before this, VoicePlay along with Omar Cardona opened for Ryan Tedder at another private event.
There is a live performance of Voiceplay’s Elvira that has better sound quality. It’s even filmed from a front seat if I recall correctly. Also if you ever just want to laugh. Voiceplay’s Chicken Song is creative and funny. They only perform it live. There’s a recording on TH-cam with Tony in it. That’s the one with the best sound quality.

Actually he didn’t do the scream in this video, he said on patreon that it was part of a backing track, but he _is_ able to actually do the scream.
Glad you found this as wanted to see the outfits that they put them in. In a chat they said they weren't the outfits they choose.
The sound system, not great, just being recorded from a distance doesn't show them off. They had to rework the arrangement and rehearsed like crazy to be comfortable live. Voiceplay is the very best, hands down. Since this was a private event, I doubt that there was a "real" recording made, unfortunately.
There are a lot of recordings of them live pre-Covid, but most were just done from the audience. Only the ones from the Sing-Off tour are quality.

Definitely some acoustical distortion. I’m liking that Geoff is nailing those super low notes live. It’s interesting to see how they make adjustments for live work. LOVE that backdrop, esp. the effects at the end.

I agree, the poor room acoustics did interfere a lot with showcasing these singers' vocals.
They are still good though, even with the poor acoustics, their talent is peaking through strongly!
Oftentimes with these kinds of videos, it's actually the cellphone microphones/cameras that distort the sounds, especially low base sounds are often not being recorded properly with cellphones.
What a great opportunity to educate those that aren’t aware the obstacles of performing Acapella live…Ashley and Ceasar’s voices really projected well..but, like you said, Geoff’s notes..you need super hearing for them to come in clear..and Laine’s amazing percussion was also muffled…still you could tell the performance was amazing! I have nothing to support this,,but it would appear it was a Disney sponsored event?..if so…they should have appropriate sound systems…I really hope they do more live performances..it’s been too long! And Geoff’s pink pants🤦🏼♀️! Thanks for posting this Qofy..☺️❤️‼️

There were many folks that thought that the scream that Geoff did in the video was not him, but he did it on stage. Did you notice that?
Yeah, recording studios exist for a reason. Seeing them live would be cool for sure, and recordings of live performances are interesting in their own way too, but there's no denying that the sound quality is better on the studio recording. The ambient noise here was distracting, and there were several times when I thought somebody's mic needed more gain; that sort of thing is difficult to entirely avoid with a live performance even if you travel with a world-class sound system and mixing engineer, because as you say, the acoustics of concert venues are generally rather different from sound studio conditions.
Probably a combination of less-than-optimal sound system (bad enough getting so little amplification of the lower range, the occasional feedback is annoying too), and recording on a phone. Does remind me of a recording that's on the net of VP performing Oogie Boogie's song live, I think at a casino showroom? If you're familiar with the original video, and you're listening to it on a really good sound system, you can make out the deep bass notes, but if the person recording it on their phone went to play it back on their phone to a friend, their friend would probably wonder what in the world they thought was fantastic about the performance...
they nailed it! sound not really good, but these voices, increadibly in tune, it's almost impossible

I agree about the poor acoustics. And what was Disney thinking about with those costumes? You certainly can’t call this things outfits, except maybe Ashley’s. Just because Disney started in cartoon is no reason to dress performers in cartoony clothes

I think Disney could've done better by them. But I thought they sounded good! You can tell they're in an arena or open space tho.
It really does suck to hear them sound so good but the over all sound quality be so bad That being said they killed it and Ashley sounds spectacular with them live!!
You have to understand what we hear is coming from a cell phone so we won't get to hear it as well as it actually was.
