    The U.S. stock markets represent the biggest single concentration of wealth in history.That's due to the size of the U.S. economy and the highly regulated nature of U.S. markets.
    No other financial market is as large, accessible, transparent, and liquid as the U.S. market. Many of the world’s biggest global growth companies, such as Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix and Google (FAANG) are listed in the US.
    There are many reasons for Malaysian investors to own stocks listed in the U.S. In the last decade, the S&P 500 index has delivered returns of around 300%, while Malaysia’s equivalent the FBM KLCI returned a measly 26% for the same period.

    To make this guide as complete as possible, I believe these are worthy information to note as well:
    1. When we refer to the US stock market, we are referring to New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ, which is our Bursa Malaysia equivalent of stock exchange. S&P500 is an index that tracks 500 of the largest companies in the US, which is almost equivalent to the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) that tracks the top 30 largest companies in Malaysia.
    2. The US market opens at 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. US time, that is 9:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Malaysia time ("Regular Trading Hours"). You can start trading in the US market 5 hours before and after the Regular Trading Hours - we call them Pre-market & After-hours trading, a unique feature that is not available in Bursa Malaysia. Liquidity/trading volume is the highest during Regular Trading Hours.

    • @ZietInvests
      @ZietInvests  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, that really depends on everyone's perspectives.
      With IBKR charging around 0.35/trade, for every 100 USD trade you would be paying 0.035% of fee which is very little to be very honest. Personally, for any brokers, I would try to keep fees below 0.05% per trade (of course the lower the better)😊

    Interested in VTSAX. But with all the fees, commissions, conversion to USD from MYR and back again with the hassle. Do we still come out ahead after all the fees and hassle compared to investing locally?

    • @ZietInvests
      @ZietInvests  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Brian, definitely, the conversion are usually done once every deposit/withdrawal - unless you are depositing a small amount every week or two, the losses should be pretty minor! Compared to paying USD 20+ per trade with local banks.
      But note the VTSAX is a US mutual fund - i dont think non-US residents like us are able to invest in them - you can look at ETFs like VOO, SPY, IVV, SPLG instead!

    Bro US stocks keep falling now. What shall we do?? Thinking of investing in our local bursa or SG on dividend stocks for time being. Can’t tahan le see my ETFs and US stocks fall so much without reason, due to Fed increasing interest rates and tightening monetary policy.. My Apple stocks and CSPX lost so much value 😩 And Fed's planning to do so for next two years due to inflation in US!! Now just start adi beh tahan liao!!
