Kyrie also uses his imagination greatly. Almost like shadowboxing. While working on his skills 💪🏽🏆🏀🏀🏀🏀
Exactly like shadowboxing
A good imagination can get you better quality reps and your brain gets better quality reps/connections
Also people often forget the athletic component of players with great handles. As Ive gotten older and worked on range of motion (staying low), strength and balance, Ive noticed that my handles and ability to finish naturally got better without any fancy drills. Kyrie can get lower, explode and most importantly stay balanced in ways that almost no other NBA player can. He obviously worked on it but I bet he had a huge genetic advantage (just like DeAron Fox's speed or Ja Morant's vertical).
Everything you talked about regarding the mirror neurons I have seen to be true in the 'naturals' that are around me, there ability to observe and translate that observation to skills, is the very thing that is putting these guys at the top of the league. Love this topic!

Thanks man
Absolutely LOVED this, Kyrie the most skilled player ever. listening to this is extremely valuable to anyone who has put a lot of hours in their craft
Great content. But growing up in New York I’ve seen that same Kyrie package everyday in the streets. He just the first to display it in the NBA.
Wow this is was an amazing episode! Kyrie is my favourite player of all time because of the way he plays, it’s like watching an artist at work. My 6 year old son plays football (soccer) and I’ve been very deliberate in the way I’ve taught him to handle the ball and who to watch and so far it’s paid off, but I’ll definitely use the lessons I’ve learned watching this further push his development
Haha the squids thing at the beginning, first time watcher here, but calling someone a squid where I’m from is one of the biggest disrespectful things u can call someone haha
Makes sense his pops was a pro and his godfather played in the nba so they were exposing him to NBA level ball handling drills at a young age plus you add his creativity
GET KYRIE ON THE PODDDD!
by far the best content i've heard regarding tendons.
please keep up tendon-related videos! preciate it a lot :D
Fire content. You articulate these concepts super clearly for how technical they are 🔥
Just going through the squid’s podcast from zero. Thank you so much for the reasoning reps you’re taking us through!
What do i have to do for coming learning from you?
Going through Patella tendon rupture rehab rn 12 weeks post op. I had a ACL in the same knee, over a decade ago. I’d most definitely take a torn ligament over a ruptured tendon. The rehab is more grueling and the rehab exercises feel way more taxing to the point where I feel like no improvement aren’t being made. Even though I know improvement are present and obvious like bending my knee and walking 😂😂
I enjoy your videos very much! I always learn new things. So thank you for your hard work!
Awesome podcast. Learn so much every time.
I would love it if you talked about the force velocity curve and how to apply it to training.
The GOAT of S&C
Been wondering about this, thanks so much
mentored by rod strickland
Deliberate Practice 🔥🔥🔥...been trying to help my son understand this process
Mirror Neurons ... This explains why a player like Luka D can execute the Step Back, in Game against Houston, without substantial practice beforehand and excel. JJ redick interview
can you explain this further? Im confused but want to know more. you're saying Luka has spatial body awareness and doesnt need to practice alot?
Kyrie told me in 09 he'd pick 5 spots on the court and make 500 shots
Each spot!
Thanks Paul.. Great content as always.. Let's get to work 😎💪🏽🏀🏐💯
Yo love the podcasts i have a question, if any of your athletes have bad habits or addictions what do you do tho help them?
hes baaaaaaaack
Could we speak about the differences between assessment of ball players compared to general health population?
Finally a new episode!❤🦑
Paul, QQ on your velocity based training comments with the squat. Do you ever use reverse bands to help increase the velocity? Im doing fat dont fly again and the 5-2 squat, penultimate jumps contrast method, you suggest .8MPS and i messed around with the reverse bands while going slightly heavier than 50% 1RM and really like the feel. Just wanted to get your take on this option.
Thank you so much for this ... GET OUT OF THE COMFORT ZONE !!!!! - SPOT ON !!!
Firstly comes with your mentality
How to reduce pain and jumper knee and under or over both side of knees
Aye squid gang back
What if the fastest I can do a full squat is half a second but I can still jump with it? Like I've been able to still jump with 225 on my back(not high ofc) but those squats definitely aren't going up in less than half a second. I'd have to squat maybe only 155 or so to do it that quickly but I still have that deceleration phase at the very end so I wouldn't jump.
Cameras/Phones and social media culture make kids so scared to fail, scared to be seen doing the work and messing up, at the rec center, public gym or elsewhere.
definitely. imagine getting crossed and someone uploading it to the ESPN Instagram
Rod Strickland was the perfect pg super underrated
how do you mesure how fast the squat in meter per second
Keep making videos
how do I track my meters per second
So at 17 never being exposed to that type of stuff as I kid how do I go about it now? Will it be impossible to get a kyrie handle ?
Nothing is impossible. If you can see yourself in your mind dribbling like Kyrie you can achieve it. I suggest you try to master different drills and moves suggested by ‘experts’ and continue expanding - as he said, once you’re comfortable, make it more challenging to get back outside your comfort zone. Sure enough your handle will get tighter and you will naturally understand how you need to move your body to execute various moves.
*The Natural= God-Given Talent*
❤️👍 love your workout
The answer is God buddy
Kyrie is him should be fmvp but this year is peak kyrie
Kyrie became Kobe? Huh
yeah cool kobe's was mentality was insane, his work ethic made him worse however because he outworked himself too often, and he's not top 3 either.
So true, he truly overtrained, but if not top 3 probably top 5
even PJF agrees kyrie is more skilled than Kobe, you guys need to use common sense, those who say kobe is more skilled, STOP GLAZING
I love both and I believe u can go either way but saying it’s Kobe is not glazing lmao. People don’t even know how cold Kobe handle was when he was younger 🤦🏽♂️
Kyrie is a better finisher and dribbler and somewhat a better shooter but that depends Kobe has better footwork post game mid range game a better basketball IQ and was a better defender you saying Kyrie is more skilled then Kobe is the actual glaze here
I think people take offense cause some think you say someone is more skilled that they are automatically the better player but that's not always the case now if kyrie was 6'6" with the same skilled he might be in the goat convo but I think anyone with sense knows kobe is the better player but kyrie is more skilled especially by every metric offensively than anyone.... I think bron is better than kobe not by much but still better but kobe is definitely more skilled than bron but just cause your more skilled doesn't make you automatically better but in the same breath I don't get offended when people feel kobe is better than bron cause I understand their viewpoint & alot of that viewpoint is based on kobe be more skilled but my rebuttal even though kobe is more skilled no debate bron was actually more effective & even if you disagree just as effective in 5v5 situations but kobe tends to be better in 1v1 situations
@@armandorasingii1270it doesn’t matter how cold Kobe’s handles were they can’t compete with kyries
@@thesaviorkey4096 never said it did, but my point is most people don’t even know how truly skilled Kobe was they just think of his back to the basket game and post footwork
Kobe the better, more skilled passer, Kobe the better shot creator (not just because of size advantage), and the best guard footwork ever. Off-hand just as good if not better. Kyrie has the best handle ever...... because of that we say he's the most skilled ever? I don't think so.
I love kobe he is my goat. He is the better overall player for sure but kyrie is more skilled. I think he is a better shot creator, ball handler, finisher, and has the better off hand. Just saying kyrie deserves the love
Well, ancestors died at 30
I think.its.funny when people claim kobe is the most skilled ever. His moves are elementary by todays standards.
🦑🦑🦑🦑
He's actually not. He's not more skilled then Jordan or Kobe
Kyrie was born left-handed. Catholic school beat it out of him.
