Holy mother of God! Thank you so much. I am a horrible beginner drummer, and that is my favorite. Now at the age of 61, you have given me the best visual, timing, tempo, rhythm, and beat outlook in order to learn it. Thank you!❤

My band is doing this song for the first time tomorrow night and found this little lesson from you to help me get the opening roll. Earned a subscriber good sir. Thank you!

If you slow the recording of the song down there’s a very clear “1 +a2” rhythm. It sounds more like a 16th, 2 32nds, and 1 16th before the 1, rather than 4 clean 32nds into the 1. So single stroke on e, double stroke on and, and single stroke on a, then the one, leading with the left would be my guess on how to play it. I’m not sure if this is intentional or if it was supposed to be a 5 stroke roll landing on the 1 but he just didn’t play it cleanly and it accidentally turned into a different rhythm.

That was the perfect tempo. Wake up and listen to the whole video. He does it super slow, then builds up to correct tempo. BEST EXPLANATION OF THE INTRO EVER!!!

Great guide, especially like the super slow playing. I don't follow your transcription though. It appears that you play bounce double on the right hand then the left, but the notation suggests just a single on the and of 4?

Cheers Keith! Thanks for watching. I've notated an eight note on the "+" of beat 4 with two slashes through it. In written music, each slash through a note stem denotes a subdivision. So an eighth note written with one slash through it would be performed as two 16th notes, and and eighth note with two slashes through would be performed as four 32nd notes - which is what's happening here, as you say with a RRLL sticking. Cheers!
