This is the ultimate physical warm-up for the Grade 1 drummer, I recommend doing this at the start of each practice session each time - build the physical skills that are going to make your drumming sound killer when you’re playing music.
Just a reminder if you need it (!):
Single Stroke Roll: RLRL
Double Stroke Roll: RRLL
Paradiddles: RLRR LRLL
Reverse sticking for left-handed drummers

Hi, I'm 50 year old woman, always wanted to play drums since I was 17. I played on pillows for 33 years, for my 50th, I bought myself an electric drum kit. This play around the kit has been so great for me to learn. I love how it's in slow and then graduates. Thanks Mike 👍, snail steps for me

I'm up to the Paradiddle level 3 , couldn't believe on level 2 I did it without even thinking. Practice is paying off. Just need to master level 3. 3 months in on electric drum kit, I'm 50 year old woman 👍

I do this routine every time before I play any songs, 10 months into having an electric kit, this is just so great to do. I'm getting much better, it does indeed take practice and practice which I do everyday to this warm up. Thanks Mike 👍

My favorite TH-cam drum teacher.
As someone returning to drums after nearly 20 years away, it makes me realise how badly I was taught. Struggle with paradiddles despite having done marching bands and also round the kit because I'm a left hander who has always played right handed. I've really learned some bodgy ways in that time!

I’m grade 4 but I imagine this is very helpful to beginners.
I would recommend this to EVERYONE including Grade 4, Grade 8, myself, and all drummers! Cheers man! :)

Hi Mike, if im just enjoying drums but want to improve, do you do grade 2,3 etc warm ups? Im on this one and getting better each day, i wonder what i can do after this to improve even more with a warm up. I do this grade 1 warm up every night and since i got my kit 10 months ago, the journey has been amazing, Doing this drum along from the first time i did it, to now, i play so differently, practice, practice and it does start to happen, without you realizing. I get on one day, im not so good. Next, everything stsrts to gel. Love your teaching 👍❤️

Thanks Mike, I should of really checked your website before messaging as I can see lots more warm ups xxx. I'm not doing grade books or anything like that, I just do my warm ups and just play along to things, Beatles, Paul McCartney, The Police, Rolling Stones. It's just lovely at my age, to have a go and I love every moment. Sadly wish I'd got into drums when I was younger. I was 17 and drumming on pillows, and I think the basics were always there but to get a kit and hear an actual kit is just a dream. Love your videos, best online x 👍♥️
Hi Mike, realised Grade 1 warm ups are totally my level, at 13 months playing on a proper electric kit and doing your grade one rudiments warm up, suddenly I've seen such a difference in the last month or so, I practise the video twice as a warm up. And thanks to another of your videos, I now hold my sticks properly which has made a world of difference. Thanks for this Mike! I’m just at grade 3 so was great to go through all levels. I do struggle going from the bass Tom back to the snare smoothly on level 3. Any suggestions or just lots of practice 😂

I find my left hand is really weak on the drums, how do I train it to be as strong as my right?
Practice, practice, practice - will take many years! Have been playing for 30 years and left hand still weaker, and that's ok. Just stay patient, keep working and build it. And thanks for watching!
