Hi, I have now changed my grills to black, so much smarter. The video helped greatly but I found a couple of other things to maybe help. Firstly locate the correct top clips! There are some smaller ones on the inner part of the grill itself, avoid these. I had to loosen each top clip and wedge a trim tool in after each clip to keep the clips from returning. Then using a long flat bladed screewdriver I undid the side clips and the grill popped forward a little more. Then using 3 butter knives one for each clip, I slid them through the base of the grill so you could see them protruding on the inside and popped them up 1 at a time and then the grill kind of jumped off! I covered all the paintwork in a double skin of masking tape to ensure no scratches and that worked nicely. With the second grill you can at least access 1 clip very easy then I just repeated the process. Hope that helps a little more and thanks for the original video Dom-iY.
Thanks for the comment Martyn. Glad the video helped you somewhat, and thank you for the additional info. Every tip and trick is good to help us with these modifications 👍🏼
I couldn't find a video for a 2016 BMW x4 until I saw yours....The butter knife made all the difference. Then I realized a tab was broken off the new one i got on ebay with the broken off piece wrapped separately in the package like someone else had returned it! Fortunately theny accept returns. So at least now all I'll have to do is snap the new ones in. Thanks for the video!
Been looking for videos on this for the X3 for a while now, all of them are garbage and show nothing. Was worried about doing this untill your video, great stuff will do mine ASAP 👍😀
Nice tutorial and greetings from Norway! I was able to loosen the kidney on the top but on the bottom couldn't insert the butter knife even it's very thin, about the same thickness as your knife from what I can see. I tried to lift up the kidney while inserting the knife and I also tried to push the knife down while inserting it, but it was impossible. I have a 2017 model, maybe there could be a slight difference in the design of the front grille/bumper ?
Thanks for the great Video! But I still can't reach the two clips on the left and right side of the grill. I just can't reach them, because there is this another rubber piece. Any suggestions?
I also have a 2017. I wish you could have gotten a camera on the clips when you released them because I tried and tried and tried, and they never gave an indication of even wanting to move.

I watched two other videos for a BMW X3 Kidney Grille Swap and yours is the best and most detailed of the three. Thanks!
Thank you.

I’m glad the video helped you get them done. Thanks for watching. 👍🏼

Glad to hear the video will help. Thank you
Great Video! Good to see how the clips are removed. I’ve had my f25 for 2 weeks and black grilles now on order! First mod!
Glad you enjoyed it. That first mod will be an awesome cosmetic upgrade 👍🏼
The mods never stop 💯
The Daily Driven they never do brother. 👍🏼

I tried the same thing, tried for about 1 hour could only ever get the top clicps no matter what I did - had to give up on it ;-(
Thanks for the great Video!

Very nice tutorial. I watched some other videos and it wasn't as cleanly done as yours.
Thank you. Glad it helped

The black rubber piece wouldn’t come off , should I force it harder ?
Dou you have a video on how to remove the centre or upper grill below the kidney grille?
You forgot to put back the black sponge..!
