Hey sorry i have an off topic question. Where do you safely leave your RV if you drive away to go somewhere while boondocking? Me and my GF are going to be temporarily living out of an RV for a while and we both work away from home so If we are boondocking and we both leave for 8 hours our RV is just going to be sitting somewhere unattended and that makes me uncomfortable. Help
We have the mini instant pot. We love it for driving days in particular. We fill it with chicken and some sort of sauce... pasta sauce, salad dressing etc and lots of veggies like mushrooms, onions, carrots etc. We bring it up to heat and let it cook for a minute or two and then unplug, wrap it in a towel or blanket and throw it in the trunk and keep driving. An hour or so later when we reach a good stopping point (e.g. pretty beach) we haul it out and lunch or dinner is ready. It works so well, not much energy (the mini ones take less watts AND less to get up to pressure) and because we turn it off and let the residual heat and pressure cook it it does not take much at all. Also because it is smaller it makes a better size meal for two and fits under our sink easily. I made a reflectix wrapper for it. It also means we spend less time standing at a stove when we could get to our destination sooner because prep is so easy and we don't have to actively cook.
Bethanjbjrs so glad to hear this! I’m in the research phase before buying an RV and I LOVE my instant pot. I want to be able to boondock and use my mini. Glad to hear you can and great tips!
So cool! I bought a little thermal bowl to use in a similar way. I made Mac and cheese recently by pouring boiling water over the elbow Mac and let it set for 39 minutes. I had to stir the mac twice. Added the gooey cheese pack and sprinkled some pepper in it and it was great. I had wrapped it in big potholders, but I would like to make a wrap for it. I have some reflectix.... I will look for a mini Instapot right now!!
Exactly - the 3-quart is perfect for an RV with some solar power. For example we can poach a small hen at high pressure for "0" minutes (Amy+Jacky recipe), and of course all those soup and stew recipes and one-pot meals. The ceramic pot is easy to wash. Where there is a will there is a way :-))
What I love most about the mini Duo Instant Pot are two things: One, no smells inside the vehicle when cooking (if expecting a smell, can vent the steam outdoors) and second, put it in the pot and forget it. Pressure cooking does the cooking all by itself while I go do something else. I have a larger Instant Pot and the Mini Duo, and definitely I can't live without the very efficient mini-duo (perfect size for cooking for 2-3 persons).
If you have ever been in a campground next to some idiot broadcasting their favorite music over outside speakers, you are thankful those speakers are weak and bass-free.
@@StacyForest738 They live in it full time, and only boondock. When/where SHOULD they blast their music? Obv rude in RV parks, but on your own when you're in nature 24/7? uhhh yeah, jam it OUT when you feel like it!
I was just smh.. we specifically find the 'no radio/audio zones' when we camp out. I have a couple of Sony XBR Bluetooth speakers. But they stay at home.
I am onboard with the Berkey. Not the noise pollution. The Champion propane/gas 2000W generator is 1/2 the price of the Honda and is already set up for propane. It is efficient, quiet and dependable.
Best advise I ever got was years ago. "Don't buy it until you need it" Hit the road 3 years ago and basically bought nothing extra. (Ohhh a one cup coffee maker, that I use every day)
Yes, I highly agree. I'm saving up for a Berkey, though. It's amazing how minimally one can live. Gave my generator and microwave that came with this camper to my niece and nephew for their rig. Just more weight to cart around and never used either of them. I mostly dry camp and have no solar. I do just fine and having less is truly freeing. 🌲❤🐶😽😻❤🌲
In relation to how often those items are used, it makes perfect sense. I gave away my microwave and generator because I never used them. However, I travel with a lot (most would consider an excess amount) of paraphernalia for my two senior cats and pup to keep them safe that take up a lot of space. 🌲❤🐶😽😻❤🌲
I bought and love the 3 qt instant pot. I use it while boondocking with a 2000 watt inverter and solar with no issue. I love to put it in the sink on travel days and let the engine feed the batteries while it cooks a roast.
We only bought an Instant Pot because we found several reviews by people living off-grid saying that the 3-qt worked well on their solar systems. Finally had a chance to test that a couple of weeks ago (we are usually stationary and have full services) and watched the inverter and solar monitors the entire time. So cool! Definitely worth the purchase for us, since we can cook meat in a fraction of the time without using propane.
Thanks for this video! VERY informative and I plan on getting the AC starter and propane adapter for my generator...my ONLY issue is with the speakers - PLEASE don't encourage others to "crank their music". I can think of nothing more annoying then having to be subjected to the droning bass and disturbance of loud music while camping!!!
@CobCeo That's even worse! That bass carries, if you want loud music buy a house with a basement. Last thing I want to hear through the trees is the thumping of some yahoo who hasn't discovered ear bud's yet!
@@c.m.303'm with you on that 👍 People boondock or remote camp for a reason. Nobody wants to find a nice spot away from everything and then have some Dip Blasting music a few hills over 😲🤬
They're still young, and pre-kids, I think as you get older you enjoy the quiet, I can't stand going anywhere there is loud music in the background, some retail stores have it so loud, and also some restaurants, makes it so hard to talk to friends or just enjoy eating or shopping...I know it didn't worry me when I was a young girl...lol...but now love the serenity, especially in the country, that's why you go there to get away from it all...
Hey, I'm 70 and adore my hard rock and play it loud using earphones, of course. Nobody wants to hear that especially out in nature. I do occasionally get strange looks when they see grandma dancing away and no sound of music. Ha Ha. 🌲❤🐶😽😻❤🌲
I recommend checking out Wyze cameras. For the price you can't beat them. Even to try out. Least expensive one is $25. I have not used them with a hotspot but have never had to reconnect them to my network since I purchased two of them over one year ago. They also have door / window / motion sensors and are just launching an outdoor model. All works via app on your phone.
Propane conversions can be extremely dangerous! The "clean" smelling exhaust can be very misleading. While the exhaust doesn't have the pungent smell of a gas or diesel engine it can produce higher levels of carbon monoxide, which has no smell. Always use a CO detector and place the generator far away from the camper, with plenty of ventilation
If you haven't tried it already, get a Nano Router that will tether to your hotspot and use the router for your wireless connections instead of the hotspot. You can set up the router for static or let it dish out the connections on DHCP, it may solve your camera connection issue or at least I hope so because I bought those cameras also but haven't made it out on the road yet with them. I have had other issues with hotspot connections and this fixed them. The routers will connect via the tether or wireless if you hotspot doesn't have a available port.
I have 6 Arlo cameras, 2 on my sailboat and 4 in my home. Love ‘em! I’ve had the ones on my boat for about 3 years and the ones in my home for about a year. Like the ones you got, they only record when the motion detector is tripped, so the battery life is insanely long. Not even worth it to get the solar charger. They’re more expensive but you get what you...well, you know. Give Sweetie a hug for me!
LOVE my Cuisinart panini/griddle!! Sooo many haters on your speakers/music... do you all think this nice young couple would blast music with neighbors... wtf. I love my sound system and use Bose speakers outside my trailer. Many your vids you’re in spots where you have nobody within a mile of you, my kind of camping!
Mark Cole No, honestly I do not...! I believe that they are both very conscientious and respectful. My only thought is that when we are out there camping, especially in the middle of nowhere and even though there may not be anyone else around... We are still trespassing in the homes of numerous wildlife...! These animals are not tame pets. They are not used to loud noises and/or music thumping away...! These things will most certainly seriously scare them, thus disturbing them and it might even force some to flee the area...! I personally enjoy nature and I’m an animal lover. I never want to be the cause of ever scaring any of the animals that I fight so hard to help protect in the hopes that they will still be around for my grandkids to see and enjoy too...! Honestly, I care about animals so much that I’m more concerned about scaring or harming them than I am about bothering another person... Have a great day and be blessed.
Troy Stutsman A man after my own heart! There are no bad dogs, only bad humans. My motto the last 5 years of my career as a LEO. Pretty serious animal lover myself :^)
I bought a propane generator and it's game changer. Also an 18v Makita chainsaw that beats Stihl in speed tests. No dirty carbs EVER. No spilled gas, no fumes, no wondering how old the fuel is, with the chainsaw there's no need for ear protection or wondering if I'm bothering the neighbors working too late or too early. Gas is on it's way outta here 👋
Love my Berkey. Took a plane trip last year, I had to get the little travel Berkey bottle because I feel safer with that water. I have Wyze cameras. However, they are powered by electric. I've been using them for over a year now, no dropping the wifi. However, I have not traveled with them. It sure gives peace of mind while I'm working on the park office & I can check on my pets in my RV. I keep a thermometer by one so I can check the temps. Had a d'link camera. It had to be constantly reset. I got tired of it & disconnected it. Also, have bluetooth speakers. A small shoebox size that I use to watch my YT vids. Gives much better audio. A nice Harmon Kardon round speaker that doesn't take up much space & a sound bar for my tv. All those I pretty much keep inside though. Also have a 3qt InstantPot. Yes, they make good chili & great pot roasts!
I got the 500.00 sony bluetooth box don't have the so called good base. But it got good uses for other people playing their music. I can use mine for white noise also. If that don't work least I can listen to my own music than theirs. Namely their Spanish poke a music and rap hip hop.
Long before Instant Pots were on the market, I simply used a pressure cooker on my gas stove in the RV. The only difference is one has to monitor the temp for a few minutes and shut it off manually. Other than that...no difference for all the time saving, plus one can use the pot itself as, well, a pot.
Yi Cameras are good, reliable, and cheap. They have a slot for an sd card that will record to the card, and they do have cloud storage as well for a fee. I just use the sd card, and it works for me. When connected to wifi, I can remote into them and never have issues. They are very good at staying connected to wifi, and often give me a timestamp when and if my internet goes down. I've tried momentum (horrible wifi connectivity problems, never again), GuardZilla, which were amazing (Battery, No wifi issues, cloud connectivity, until they just went out of business due to covid). I had a GuardZilla for my outdoor cam, and a ring doorbell, the ring is nice, but the battery won't keep a charge anymore, it's good when it's charged, and the newer versions might work better paired with a solar panel. I am looking into getting a Yi Outdoor Camera to replace the Guardzilla and Ring, since my indoor Yi's work very well. Oh and the Yi cameras I have let me move the camera around when I am connected to WiFi.
Hey guys....quick question: When you guys go out in your truck exploring for the day, and leave the trailer behind, do you leave the AC on for your pets, or leave the windows open? Just curious since you are boondockers.....thx!
We use the MySpot Cam, it connects to the hotspot no problem and runs on 12v with an adapter. I wired mine direct to the 12v in the RV. Mounted to the roof, sends notices to my email and records 24 hours free, pay subscription if you want more than 24hrs. Use it for when we are out shopping and when the rig is stored parked and not used for months at a time. (we are not full timers)
We also nixed an InstaPot. Takes up so much room, and we boondock often. We don't have solar, so we weren't going to run a generator just to use an electric pot. We lived in a high altitude city for 25 years, and camped in the mountains often, so for many years I have used a stovetop pressure cooker. You can cook meals just as fast as in the Instapot, and also use the pot for regular cooking. My lid fits a large 6 quart pot and a small 2 quart pot, so it is very versatile. If you are only preparing a small amount, it comes up to pressure almost immediately in the small pot. I have had this set for 25 years and have only replaced the lid gasket once. I use it frequently and would replace it without hesitation.
I installed the easy start and it works. Yesterday, for the 1st time, by accident, I ran my ac and microwave at the same time and the Honda 2200 ramped up but didn't even hicc-up.
Really enjoy your videos. Great camera work and always informative as usual. We have the same griddler and use it a lot. Had to buy it on a camping trip when there was a burn ban and the propane stove was not allowed. It opens up flat to use for pancakes or scrambled eggs and has a set of grill plates for getting char marks on burgers. Keep up the good work, and safe travels.
We just received our Nimble Pet Device which monitors the RV Temp, Humidity, & Power that transmits to an App on your phone with a 4G link that comes with a monthly or annual subscription. It is USB powered that comes with an AC adapter, but we plug it into one of our USB receptacles since we do a lot of boondocking. If you lose the USB power, a battery backup that runs for up to 48-hours sends a push and email notification as well if your temp and humidity falls outside your preset ranges. It is a great device for when we are out hiking and the outside temps get warmer or colder than expected. One quirk is we have to reset the temperature limits when we travel since we have a travel trailer and the internal temps of the RV can climb to over 100 degs in summer. Other than that we are enjoying testing it out and will have more to report later. I wish it was included with a camera that would help of see how Stella is doing, but at least we are alerted if temps and humidity become unbearable or if we lose AC or DC power depending on how we have it connected and/or if someone messes with our battery disconnect switch. -Dave
By the way, great video! If you're still interested in protecting your pets try the blinkxt2. They can be put anywhere and are really cost effective. There is now a blink mini for the indoor area. Both items are Amazon exclusive and your videos can be saved to the cloud. We have it at our homestead and no wifi connection issues. It always remembers the last connection. Hope this helps
I have only one good pot, thick that keeps heat in. I bring any kind of food , stew, soup, steamed chicken, to a boil, stir, and bring to another boil. You close the lid, wrap the entire pot with towels or rug or anything all around. I leave it there for a few hours, never open it, sometimes overnight. It serves like a slow cooker and cooks very evenly. Without additional heat, the food is never overcooked. So the better is your pot, the better the outcome. So I use very little propane. Curry turns out best if left overnight.
I use an Arlo camera. It works via 4G and is always reliable. It cost me an extra $20 a month through my Verizon account. It also has a solar panel you can buy to charge it (extra cost).
Well, that settles it...the Instant Pot stays home! We seldom ever stay in a RV park, so rely on our batteries alone, and the generator to recharge when needed. We do have a Berkey that we use at our cabin. The water we fill it with comes straight from our lake. Our lake is home to beaver, otter, muskrats, ducks, swans and fish. And used by moose, caribou, bears, wolves...You get the picture. The Berkey filters EVERYTHING out. The water tastes great and after years of boiling, filtering, bleaching...I just pour it through! It's so nice! I have taken note though...I will not park my RV anywhere near you....I love music, but I prefer the sounds of nature to listening to someone else's tunes. Lol! thanks for all of your sharing!-Sue
Eh....no. Not necessarily. If the sites are far apart I would agree with you, but if you end up in one of those "class A parking lots" then sorry, I FART and you can hear it, so no go on that too loud comment. (edit: the small portable one I can accept, but the large speakers? not needed when you are group camping. But when you are so very alone like they tend to do, it is their choice)
ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, First code of law towards others is be considerate and don't force others to hear you. We always try to be as quiet as possible no matter where we are. In fact I hope and pray the regular obnoxious loud non inverter generators are banned from all campgrounds. As well as filthy noisy stinking farting dogs and cat people who drag them along everywhere they go so the entire place has to live with those animals too.🤢🤮
Gosh I hope I never have to camp anywhere near you. Generator, loud speakers, barking dog (okay just guessing on that last one.) You guys are a camper's worst nightmare. Haha
Do you test your berkey water with red dye every few months? My berkey failed after a few months🙁I was so disappointed !!! The filters were under warranty but i had a hard time trusting in the system after that. But while it was working I loved the taste of the water !
WOW, that's scary. In what way did it fail and how did you discover it wasn't properly filtering? I'm saving up for one so always interested in what others have experienced. 🌲❤🐶😽😻❤🌲
Did you get ahold of Berkey about this, if so who did they handle it...? As far as purchasing a unit, I checked their site about a month ago and they were out of stock on every model...!
easy start, believe it is good even with larger generators. Keeps voltage fluctuations low. It is also easier on the compressor. 2) insta-pot, use it all the time weather hooked up or boondocking. We just start the generator when using. 3) propane conversion. I believe that propane run generators do not put out the same watts as gas run generators. I personally do not like propane because you must go to a propane fill station. You can get gasoline any where. I use sta-bil in my storage containers but I do use my generator often. . 4) Berky water filter, really want to get one from any reviews I've seen. 5) Speakers, hardly ever use outside speakers. Hope the deer know how to keep time with the beat of the music. Would make a nice coyote call. 6)Griddler, have a forman but are looking for something like the griddler. 7) Cameras wanting to get something. Thanks for the review. Been looking at Ring. Saw your cell booster on back on roof. I've seen a lot of boosters mounted this way and guess it works ok. To me it just screams to any tree branches "HIT ME" if you have a crank up TV antenna, mount it on top and above the TV part of the antenna. Good video. Not intending to dispute any of your reviews, just MHO if a device works for anyone like they want, then by all means use it! Keep the vids coming.
Propane is everywhere, between tractor supply, Menards, Amerigas, gas stations, campgrounds, etc there are probably nearly as many propane fill stations as there are gas stations. Add in that in a pinch blue rhino is at nearly every Walmart and grocery store and it's zero trouble to get. As far as the cell booster, the branch would likely have already taken out your AC shroud since they aren't really any higher and are positioned behind it =)
Thanks for all the great information. I'm particularly interested in the cameras. My wife and I take our dogs with us but are uneasy about leaving them alone in the trailer for long. So, we got a baby monitor that has video, audio, and shows us the temperature of the room to an app on our phone. Unfortunately, when we tried using them at a park with wi-fi, it wouldn't allow a connection to a source that was not password protected (as was the campground wi-fi). I understand the security concern but this would only be for our dogs while we're gone and it would be turned off any time we're at the camper so using a public wi-fi for this purpose would be okay. Additionally, it wouldn't recognize our iPad as a hotspot (was our plan B) so we couldn't get it to work that way, either. When you find cameras that work, please do a video on it...I'm anxious to learn more about our options. Thanks!
I've never used a Berkey, but I have an Alexapure that lasts 5000 gal per filter. I can't speak for the Berkey, but although the Alexapure can filter that many gal the manufacturer recommends replacement after 6 months of use. I've used one up to 12 months, and I only changed it because the water started tasting a bit funky. I'm a big fan of gravity drain water filters! Well worth the money if you don't mind the hassle! Keep the filter under around 85-90F or it'll clog up for some reason...
I do most of our cooking in the instant pot, have a 2qt one makes great meals, would not give it up but the difference is we have a motor home so running generator for half hour is no issue
We bought a stove-top pressure cooker - works on gas, faster than the instant pot. If you don't want to pressure cook, you can use it as a regular pot. No issue with the WiFi and our Reolinks Argus2, however, we did have one camera just die, in about two years.
No, I have almost the same solar set up with 400 amp hours and have no issue using the insta pot. I have a funny feeling you guys burn a lot of electricity with all your online stuff.
@1234 Ditto. Ripe fruits and veggies, and my cheap junky tasty cheat food - ramen noodles, plus on top of that I've adopted an intermittent fasting lifestyle.
LOVE YOU TWO!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! finally know Much MORE about trickier things , Berkey water filtering just for starters!! THANK YOU AND GOOD BLESSINGS !!!
Love watching videos where the people speak clearly and slow enough to understand what's being said. Oh and not being so silly wanting to be cute so I give you thumbs up. Thanks for these pointers. I'll keep watching you guys.
I have the 2200i but I went to the Predator 3500. $699 and much quieter than the Honda surprisingly. The two downsides is size/weight and fuel consumption. The upsides are noise and fuel capacity. Weather you have the easy start or not it works. JMHO.
Try Blink for Home outdoor cameras. They use 2 AA Lithium batteries, and can be powered by USB. They work great, and won’t forget the WiFi info. The nee Blink XT2 even has 2 way talk, so you can talk to whoever is outside like a ring doorbell. They are about the same price as the cameras you tried.
The brand new Wyze Cam Outdoor is perfect for this. Unlike the preceding cameras which are intended for indoors, it is waterproof and senses activity via PIR. It is also completely wireless (no power cord) and supports "travel mode" to work without Internet. It is still small with magnetic mounts, so easily placed when you set up camp. It is still inexpensive, but at the moment is sold out (but worth waiting for).
We have had good luck with "Amcrest" cameras. There are several different models and video qualities. They are inexpensive and seem to work well. Purchased on the largest online retailer ;)
We put our JBL speaker in the pocket of our golf cart and play music when we ride around.(I don't remember which one, other than it's about the size of your small one.) It does great on there.
Plants are pot-able ... able to be put in pots. Water is potable ... p-OH-table. Able to be consumed by humans. Long o. Say it ... it feels good. :-) Agree on the good quality Bluetooth speakers being so much better than the built-in speakers on RVs. They also have the ability to bring the music to you, as opposed to being anchored on the side of your RV. In many improved campgrounds, the fire pit and seating area are 10s of yards away from the RV. That means to use your RV built-in speakers means the surrounding campsites are listening to your music. Portable speakers rule!
He boss, check out Wyze, cheap, reliable and versatile. I use them with the same jet pack and no issues. Their about to launch a outdoor cam that can be used as a stand alone.
The problem with aircon is it uses the old induction motor, which draws a huge starting surge. There is new tech: inverter aircon. Reduced startup surge. More efficient, they work better for the same amount of power. Regarding propane, it's good, but realize you lose 10% of the power output. Still great idea.
I have used my Berkey daily for 10 years now. I suggest you look at the after market glass tube spigot as it ensures you a proper level of water in the bottom (and not over fill). We have the tanks near a sink so we can fill a pitcher from the sink.. Great water.
Great info as always! Have y’all found a better camera setup? I’d like some way to monitor my pets and get notifications while I’m gone in case the power goes out and the rig gets too hot! Thanks
We have the same Reolink camera and it works flawlessly and we love it. You MUST link it to a 2.4ghz wifi signal. If you try to use a 5ghz it will not function properly
We run our A/C on a 15A circuit and EU2000 without the Easystart all the time... We got the Instant Pot Mini just to save space.... One gadget we love is the RV Level 4 from Madebyjoe... Doesn't need a battery like the Levelmate Pro and is cheaper. We also like the Tank Check for monitoring Propane Level.
Will you please do a video on how you travel with your Berkey? Do you strap it in fully assembled or partially disassemble it? If disassembled, don't the filters need to be kept from drying out? Thank you!
We had that Cuisinart Griddler and loved the way it cooked but ended up getting rid of it because no matter what we did it would get grease all over when we cooked any kind of meat on it. Is this not something you've had problem with? I'm wondering if ours was just defective...
That's interesting that you say the Griddler takes less energy than the Instant Pot. I feel like the IP is a very energy efficient way to cook. I can't imagine getting rid of it. We have two at home and bring one with us camping. There are just so many one pot meals you can cook in it... its so convenient. As for the Griddler, we have George Foreman and like that a lot.
1:00 In Germany a single room 5000 BTU window AC is made which uses around 500 W of electrical power... It is called the Kapsul Noria... It is small is size (20x22x7 inches), not too heavy (40 lbs) and it looks cool too... 3:13 Somethings granny's way is the best way...I the kitchen Granny's way as a tendency to be just that. For example: instead of a power consuming (quite a lot i understand) Instant Pot you could go the hay box route. A simple box (or a little room in one of the cabinets and some drawer sliders) in which a easy to make (some sewing skills are involved though) pot insulator device in which you set a pot with food which has been heated (brought to the boil) on the stove. The pot is kept hot for many many hours and if the box is sized so the insulating device keeps the lid tight to the pot there won't be any spills. The heat can not escape and as a result the meal (which can be anything from simple rice/vegetables to the cheaper cuts of meats to stew) will be cooked without the addition of energy. You need some time though, meats upto 5 hours, rice and veggies obviously less: about 2 hours. Look it up: Wonderoven (TH-cam knows about it) 3:35 If you like solar and cooking the All Season Solar Cooker is maybe an option. A reflective diy (corroplast) thing which enables the user to cook with sunlight. Again you have to start cooking ahead of time. Most meals take about 4-5 hours in the sun... 8:45 Do you guys catch rainwater (to filter) ? 11:11 What do the bears think about you making that much noise ???
I find Ring to be a pain in the neck too. We have it at home and the battery needs recharging every two weeks, so we got a second one to have it ready to replace--BUT you have to unscrew the doorbell cover to do the replacing! What a pain! Plus if you don't open the app on your phone for 30 days, you get kicked out of the app and have to log back in.
I agree about the Instant Pot, but I haven’t the heart to get rid of it for the times that I use it. As for the generator, I sold my Honda in favour of The Car Generator, which takes up hardly any room, weighs next to nothing and hooks right up to my truck. I love it! I also love my Berkey, but wish I had one size up from what I do have. From my understanding though, they are on back order. As for your speaker... holy moly! Take care and stay safe!
Fyi get the $30 tplink nano travel router. It can plug into a usb outlet and be powered by your batteries. It has hotspot mode where it bounces your hot spot giving you a real router that keeps the hotspot signal always live. Then the cameras may work, if not get the heimvision HMD2 :)
I just wanted to thank you for this update on your previous couple lists of 'must haves' or useful gadgets. I only just stumbled onto your videos maybe 2 weeks ago and am transitioning into RV life this summer - your videos have been a lot of help for me. I especially appreciate the update on the Reolink cameras, as I had one in my amazon cart and was going to be ordering it in the next couple of days - now that I know they have connection issues, I will look for something else. Thank you!! :)
Are there propane conversion kits for other brands of generators? Is the fuel efficiency any different with a propane converted generator versus regular gasoline?
There may be but I think most brands will void the warranty if you convert them. Also, the power is different with natural gas. A 2200 watt generator running on gasoline will produce more like 2000 watts on propane.
QUESTION: Do you have any problems with pack rats in the different areas you boondock at? If so how do you keep them out of your truck's engine compartment? Thanks!!!
A 3qt. instapot is large enough for two, and you have a generator to run the air conditioner. You should start that up once in a while anyway to keep the engine well oiled. I do have stove top pressure cookers, but they take much more attention.
I've been using reolink for my home internet and it seems to work perfectly. They haven't once forgot the wireless router. They even have a PZT camera that you can move around. I wonder if the issue is with the Hotspot?
Wen inverter generator. 3500 watts, 4000 starting watts, and only 7 pounds heavier than the Honda 2200. It is electric start if you remove the pull starter, get a 1/2 inch ratchet adapter and a socket to fit the crankshaft bolt. A half inch cordless drill becomes the electric starter. So much better than the parallel setup I had with two Honda 2000s that would not start in cold weather.
I had the same security camera on our house and it was horrible! I had to reset it all the time. Which meant getting out the ladder and resetting it and setting it back up. We put the Ring security system and cameras in our travel trailer and loved them but still didn’t use them as often as we thought.
I can vouch for jbl - i bought 4 of the new small ones and chain them all together w/ bluetooth to create surround sound for our forest frisbee games -super worth it!!
In the case of a Crock-Pot, if you're in an Motorhome that can power the 120VAC (and a Timer to Switch the Mains off) while Driving (and you can anchor it in place with the vehicle in motion), you could cook while driving.
If you have any old smart phones laying around, they make excellent security cameras with the Alfred app. You have to put up with some ads on the free version but they are not too intrusive. The app will notify you when it detects motion and will record and hold it for 7 days. You can store and download videos that you want to keep.
Forgot to mention, most phones are not weatherproof, so using a universal suction cup auto mount on the inside of a window solves that issue along with it not walking away.
Question on the MicroAir 364 Easy Start. What is the BTU Rating on your A/C? Do they have any that would be rated for a higher BTU A/C? that would enable one to use a 2200i inverter/generator?
I have an old JVC "getto blaster" that we use for sound. Downside is it doesn't have blue tooth so you need a cord, takes "c" cells, and has an old useless cd player and tape player in it. Sounds great though and isn't very big.

Help
I know you need to make some hay... BUT a 20 minute commercial... C'mon guys
Please update us on the RV CAMERA/S I would like to know.
We bought the megaboom 3
Dunny? I thought you were Roe?
Note to self: Don't camp near David and Jenny if that speaker comes out of their trailer. 😁
Unless they are playing great music... :-)
I'm sure you are nice people but I would never camp anywhere near you!!!! I camp to hear nature not my neighbors music.
Poor animals.
SECOND THAT EMOTION!!!
Hate when some campers think they need to share there music with the neighbors keep noise to your own camp
Brilliant!
Exactly! I don’t go to the outdoors to hear music blasting. Yuck.
I turned on opera, loud, they got the hint.
@FEAR The Walking Don they are at home... lol
I am onboard with the Berkey. Not the noise pollution. The Champion propane/gas 2000W generator is 1/2 the price of the Honda and is already set up for propane. It is efficient, quiet and dependable.
Best advise I ever got was years ago.
"Don't buy it until you need it"
Hit the road 3 years ago and basically bought nothing extra. (Ohhh a one cup coffee maker, that I use every day)
That is excellent advice!
The instant pot took up too much space but check out this JBL Party Box! 😂
🤣👍
In relation to how often those items are used, it makes perfect sense. I gave away my microwave and generator because I never used them. However, I travel with a lot (most would consider an excess amount) of paraphernalia for my two senior cats and pup to keep them safe that take up a lot of space. 🌲❤🐶😽😻❤🌲
🤣 hahahahaha
😂😂 Priorities!! 😂😂
My 3-quart Instant Pot is coming with me, along with a couple of much-used corningware pieces.
RV Mush, 2000 watt inverter, and how many solar power watts? Thanks, might be a dumb question.
@@heatherk8931 just two 100 watt panels but we are very judicious with our use. It’s the inverter wattage that determines which size IP you can get
Thanks for this video! VERY informative and I plan on getting the AC starter and propane adapter for my generator...my ONLY issue is with the speakers - PLEASE don't encourage others to "crank their music". I can think of nothing more annoying then having to be subjected to the droning bass and disturbance of loud music while camping!!!
hopefully they mean when they are in the wilderness.
@CobCeo That's even worse! That bass carries, if you want loud music buy a house with a basement. Last thing I want to hear through the trees is the thumping of some yahoo who hasn't discovered ear bud's yet!
@@c.m.303'm with you on that 👍
People boondock or remote camp for a reason.
Nobody wants to find a nice spot away from everything and then have some Dip Blasting music a few hills over 😲🤬
Would rather hear nature.
@@vickimathews1970 I agree. My sons use to say, if the music is too loud, you're too old..
I have a couple of wyze cameras too. But they have to be powered. They just released an outdoor camera. I don't know if it is battery powered or not.
Eugene Street
Thanks for the info...!
Have a great day and be blessed.
Not to mention that using propane reduces the wattage your generator puts out.
AlaskaErik
I’ve never heard that before...
Thanks.
Btw...
Why is that....?
Have a great day and be blessed.
The dog stealing your show. Smiling ,crossing paws . Mom who you talking to?
I agree with you on the Berkey! That was the best money I ever spent on any RV gear.
My dad ran all his vehicles on propane on the farm. Oil after 3000 miles still looked new.
Watch while Jenny demonstrates the griddle. Your fur baby sitting on the bed stole the show!

No, honestly I do not...!
I believe that they are both very conscientious and respectful.
My only thought is that when we are out there camping, especially
in the middle of nowhere and even though there may not be anyone
else around...
We are still trespassing in the homes of numerous wildlife...!
These animals are not tame pets.
They are not used to loud noises and/or music thumping away...!
These things will most certainly seriously scare them, thus disturbing
them and it might even force some to flee the area...!
I personally enjoy nature and I’m an animal lover.
I never want to be the cause of ever scaring any of the animals that I
fight so hard to help protect in the hopes that they will still be around
for my grandkids to see and enjoy too...!
Honestly, I care about animals so much that I’m more concerned about
scaring or harming them than I am about bothering another person...
I have Wyze cams and I am pretty sure you can plug in a small solar charger to them.
We're using a Berkey too and will take it on the road. Great choice!
Put a thermometer in view of the camera so you can be sure your rig isn't too warm for the pets
I hope I never camp within a mile of you with that JBL party box 300. I completely disagree with cranking loud music while camping.
They usually camp by themselves plus they dont remind me of the kind of kids that are rude to their neighbors.
Let’s complain about generator space, but we’ll pack this stupid crap.
I just installed the easy start on my rv last weekend. Works great. I can now run my a/c on my Honda EU2000i
Our family was living in Africa they used a berkey for all their drinking water also even though they had running water.
Any ideas for security cams that can work with no wifi or cell when your out of range? Game camera?
Who was watching Sweetie in the background instead of the segment on the griddle. :)

Worth it or not, who doesn't love gadgets?! 😉
BY RONCO INC. LOL OH GEE THOSE WERE THE DAYS!
I bet the camp neighbors love you for that huge speaker. 🤔

@@hollyhopalong7405 Some of the best music festivals happen out in nature, friend 😁
Do you see where these two camp? Nowhere near anyone else. Save the histrionics.
If I can hear your music from my campsite, it is too loud!
If I can hear you complaining about my music from my campsite, you are too loud.
@@BKD70 no kidding.
@@lonniemcnerney262 Put on headphones. They make wireless ones these days. You have no right to force your taste in music on others.

As far as purchasing a unit, I checked their site about a month ago and
they were out of stock on every model...!
No grill?? Love my Weber Q1200, with the optional griddle plate. Plus you can bake bread and do pizzas, slow cook roasts and more.
easy start, believe it is good even with larger generators.
Thanks!
Dog just chilling on the bed....totally worth it :D
How much are you in your RV during the year?
@1234 Ditto. Ripe fruits and veggies, and my cheap junky tasty cheat food - ramen noodles, plus on top of that I've adopted an intermittent fasting lifestyle.
LOVE YOU TWO!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! finally know Much MORE about trickier things , Berkey water filtering just for starters!! THANK YOU AND GOOD BLESSINGS !!!
I have an old fashion 6qt pressure cooker which i can use as a regular pot or pressure cooker on my propane rv stove , better than an instant pot.
Can you boil eggs in it?
Love watching videos where the people speak clearly and slow enough to understand what's being said. Oh and not being so silly wanting to be cute so I give you thumbs up. Thanks for these pointers. I'll keep watching you guys.
What WiFi hot spot do you use? I am trying to figure out some kind of an extender.
We have that Griddler too. Love it! I bought the waffle plates as well, which makes it even more versatile.
Thank you for your RV gadgets reviews! YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!! ❤️
Plants are pot-able ... able to be put in pots. Water is potable ... p-OH-table. Able to be consumed by humans. Long o. Say it ... it feels good. :-)
Agree on the good quality Bluetooth speakers being so much better than the built-in speakers on RVs. They also have the ability to bring the music to you, as opposed to being anchored on the side of your RV. In many improved campgrounds, the fire pit and seating area are 10s of yards away from the RV. That means to use your RV built-in speakers means the surrounding campsites are listening to your music. Portable speakers rule!
ya lost me at the Party Box
He boss, check out Wyze, cheap, reliable and versatile. I use them with the same jet pack and no issues. Their about to launch a outdoor cam that can be used as a stand alone.
You two are getting close to 100k subs i am so sorry excited for you both you two totally deserve it
The problem with aircon is it uses the old induction motor, which draws a huge starting surge. There is new tech: inverter aircon. Reduced startup surge. More efficient, they work better for the same amount of power. Regarding propane, it's good, but realize you lose 10% of the power output. Still great idea.
Thanks for the info on the Berkey. There is no shortcut for clean, filtered water.
Look it up: Wonderoven (TH-cam knows about it)
3:35 If you like solar and cooking the All Season Solar Cooker is maybe an option.
ADDICTED TO THE SHOW!
We like love our Berkey 💧 most, #1 on our list 👍
I just watched a 20min ad😂 but I enjoyed it.
Will be watching to see which security camera set up you choose.
FINE! I'll subscribe. Best RV videos I've found so far. Cant wait to ditch the black hole that is rent.
Omg your dog! 😂❤️
I. Love. Gadgets. Thanks for this vid!
Amazon Blink is supposed to becoming out w a local storage/hub for use w their new mini camera. TBD, but I’m hoping that will allow wifi free use.
Just bought a marcell temperature monitoring because I take my dog camping with me.. It has its own wifi, and seems to be pretty accurate.
I can vouch for jbl - i bought 4 of the new small ones and chain them all together w/ bluetooth to create surround sound for our forest frisbee games -super worth it!!
Had a similar experience with “Tend” Micro 2 camera USB cameras. Only one works and it’s iffy and problematic since I only use it when away.
