ANGELO, Thank You! I've been using the Adobe Suite for 20 years using Photoshop, Illustrator daily and have always avoided InDesign! Knowing I had to create some interactive product catalogs for a client, I knew InDesign was the best solution. Thank god I found you! Between this video and your "smartwatch" tutorial I am now GIDDY to start using this much more in my work life! Your instructional method is a 10 out of 10.
Angelo, last year in March when the pandemic sent the U.K into their first lockdown, I saw it a prime opportunity to rework my design skills. I always hated InDesign throughout my studies, but after coming across your videos last year I am now a convert. I actually look forward to using the software now 😂. You will always be my go-to mentor. Keep up the good work man 👊.
You are a godsend! Love your clarity in each episode and being consistent and clean with the layers. I keep telling my coworkers that designing interactive projects take so much patience and brainpower! We have to be thankful for our designers 💕
Great video Angelo, can you share with us the file next time? please. That can help us to follow you step by step trough your video and learn more faster, god bless you.
Angelo do you have a template for the starting point of this - ie; the catalogue that you start the video with. I've learned the basics on how to stack the images and make the text appear on clicking them, it's just the initial setup and formatting I'm struggling with. This one looks a beauty and I'm looking for something similar so I can adapt it for a project 🙂
I am dropping a download link in the description. The InDesign file has two pages - one with all the interaction shown in the tutorial, and one set up as a template. The paragraph styles have been set up and the links (images) are also in the folder. You may have to use your own font if you don't have access to Adobe's AvantGarde.
Angelo! thank you for the video. I am trying to create a sports spirit catalogue is this helps tremendously. How Do I get my products to float in a white background like yours?
Hey Coach! In the description there's a link to download the images in this tutorial. If you're using your own, you'll have to remove the background from the image in Photoshop.
Is it possible that the user, while viewing the pages, wants to save a PDF copy of the interactive catalog via some command or button? Which option would be smarter to save a copy with all items?
Hi Samuel. It wouldn't be interactive in PDF format any longer. What I go over in this tutorial is meant for EPub or Publish Online. Publish Online allows users to download a PDF but just keep in mind the interactivity will no longer work for the PDF platform.
@@AngeloMontilla Thank you friend. Excellent tutorial. Even losing interactivity, would I be able to create a button to download the "static" version of the catalog? or would i need to have a static version apart on the server? maybe when clicking a button on the interactive pages, I would call the download a link to part of the static PDF catalog. Can I somehow save the interactive presentation in the last presentation state the user is viewing, like a screenshot of the screen in PDF? This would avoid making multiple PDF versions, both interactive and static.
@@samueldesigner1914 Your best bet is actually creating an Alternate layout in the InDesign project. Make one interactive and one not. The reason I say that is because you may lose interactive elements when you download from the published version. Have a look here: indd.adobe.com/view/bda80259-66f1-4651-942f-b7488b6a83f3 That's an interactive project I did in my last tutorial. I added the option for you to download a PDF, but watch what happens when you do - you lose buttons and other objects that were interactive. That is why I suggest creating an Alternate Layout setup within the same document.
@@AngeloMontilla Very good. I will make one interactive and one not. As you suggested, I think it's the best way. Thank you very much friend for your help and collaboration. Your channel is very valuable.

And i also want to know if it is possible to convert a PDF (Catalogue, formation, ...) to interactive epub ? Do you make formation ? I want to be a pro on making all type of interactif ebook. What is the best tools to make them ? thank you
Hey there! You can export HTML by going to File > Export and choosing HTML from the format options. However, this won't export the layout as you see it in InDesign. It exports the HTML, js and Images, which you will have to hand off to a developer for your website.
hello Angelo, i'm currently testing in5 trial. i make a lot of ebooks and epub fixed layout, and i use publish online but with in5 i can export my html and use all the things from pdf interactive to epub features. do you think its a good solution having the pro in5? is it too expensive? idk... adobe should make something this big... incorporated in indesign software... like the old DPS, and the option for us to export as an html5. maybe...its all about money?... pls can you make a video using pan and zoom/scrolling frames with in5 on indesign? I love your videos and your teaching skills. please dont stop :) kisses from Portugal!
Hi Mariana! in5 is an amazing tool for to export and publish interactive layouts. I agree, I think Adobe should have many of these features built into InDesign. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. Take care :)
Hey there! Very little of my tutorials cover interactive PDF. There's not much you can do for PDF anymore when it comes to animation and interactivity.
Hi there. iPhone and Android aren't Flash based platforms. Also, Interactive PDF will no longer work for desktop either, unfortunately, as Adobe has phased out Flash support completely.
Great video, clear and easy to follow - My question is, how can we export this as an animated pdf? what options are available to export a file and email it to someone where the animations work as intended? Many thanks :)
Hey there! Unfortunately, this won't work for PDF Interactive. Remember, PDF is flash-based and the interactivity that was used for this lesson was HTML - so it's meant to be published online or exported for e-pub fixed layout.
Starting look of big and changeable product is bad, no text in it. If there is no way to set up startup product to show and change per these animation rules, using animation is bad.
I apologize FuturpiX. I was demonstrating how to create the interactivity more than the buttons. I encourage you to check out some of my latest tutorials as I go over design + interactivity. Take care.

How to make the same in inkscape. Kindly make a video specially the clicking effect
So, what format do you export this for it to work? How do I share it with the customers?
Thanks!
Publish Online, HTML5 Package or EPub (Fixed Layout). Any of those, but not PDF Interactive.

It would have been nice to know from the beginning that this couldn't be exported as an interactive PDF.
