I am a 52 yr old life long student with a B.S. in Environmental Science with an emphasis in geology, hydrogeology and soil science. I have over 25 years of practical work experience, mostly studying retail gasoline properties that have discharged all kinds of petroleum products into the subsurface for one reason or another. I have worked in many diverse geomorphical areas throughout the northeastern U.S. I still have A LOT to learn! I have listened to Randall Carlson speak several times. Sometimes with open minded people like Joe and Graham, other times with sceptics who tend to be arrogant, dismissive and very defensive of their beliefs. Often, they do not present their theories and ideas with anywhere near the elegance, class, humility, and clarity of Mr. Carlson. I am baffled that his theories on the scabland floods are not accepted by more academics? I have never heard anyone present evidence that debunks his theories with any real conviction? Keep at it Randall, you are a special person and a rare breath of fresh air in the stench of stale academia.
No one has time to rebut over generic ramblings on podcasts. He rants on about people saying “climate change denier”, but who really cares about that label? He needs to make a real claim and present the evidence in a compact and explicit form, you know, a paper. Prepare a paper and submit it for review. Become a scientist instead of a podcaster. Frankly, he doesn’t because he is floating about charging windmills and fighting straw men.

My favorite thing about listening to Carlson is how he doesn't waste one single syllable. He can talk for 3 hours and still he has so much left unsaid. And you can really feel the entire time he is so desperate to just get the information out there because it's really important.
Let's not overlook the bit where Randall spoke to something he didn't know much about, acknowledged that fact, and thanked Joe for pointing him to a paper to learn more. This is how we should handle gaps in our own knowledge instead of faking it or ignoring others studies. What a great example this gentleman is!

Joe doesn’t lay traps for his guests. He doesn’t proceed with a list of “gotcha”questions meant to embarrass and discredit his guests. He doesn’t constantly interrupt his guests in the middle of their explanations, or right when they’re about to make a point. He’ll disagree, but never dismiss or attack. He listens to understand, not to respond. He lets his guests talk, instead of dominating the interview with his own opinions or positions. This is why he’s becoming one of the most followed interviewers. People like Cathy Newman need to get the memo.
who's Cathy Newman? Or have I made your point? And YES Joe is an excellent interviewer ~ even when he is excited and eager to jump in he knows how to insert himself into dialogue seamlessly
I love it! Unfortunately no one hears this man. We hear the government cumming their pants about how we are going to destroy the planet in 20 years. I remember seeing movies in elementary school about climate change and our teachers talking about the world would be very different by 2020.....
@Andy L you obviously haven't watched all of these podcasts......and if you have, your liberal ears aren't listening. The problem is, to many people are focusing on "co2" and not enough on the bigger picture. Pay attention to real research, instead of being a sheep and worshipping al gore
This is literally awesome. Joe, a guy who has built his career in mma, holds one of the best interviews with a historian I have ever seen. So so engaging.
He started as a comedian. Then went on the man's channel, then fear factor. Mma didn't have anything to do with him starting. He became friends with Dana white and became involved.

Wish Joe had more guests like him on. Recently it's been nothin but comedians and that's nice and all but it's not even comparable in entertainment value to the intellectual guests.
Yeah although I like to see a variation in the type of guests he has on, there have been too many comedians. There are good topics they discuss, but too much of it is about the life of a comedian. It gets repetitive.

Probably because everything Graham and Randall say has been massively debunked, Grahams Amazon show is nothing but made up fairy tales, I got sucked in by both of them, until I did my homework, nothing they say adds up unfortunately, they both twist the truth to make us think there is this big conspiracy, it all sounds good, and so believable, but so easily debunked

@Nick Nack Up to the younger dryas boundary there are artifacts from the Clovis people in North America.above the YDB there has yet to be found a single artifact of the Clovis culture. All of the artifacts of the Clovis culture are pre 13000 years ago. Nice try with that straw man, The Clovis culture were hunter gatherers and didn't use pottery or create infrastructure.
@Nick Nack No you used it as a deliberate straw man. The oldest settlements in the world are in Syria and Turkey dating back at least 13000 years. The massive ice sheets covering the North american continent from Alaska down to the US prevented any more advanced civilisations from entering the America's. The Clovis peoples were already in North America and like later civilisations that made it to the continent they never advanced enough to construct anything unlike those found in the middle east. Like Gobekli Tepe in Turkey which was deliberately buried at the end of the last ice age.
My heart has a growing feeling when I see people talking freely and debating, and sharing information and being polite and etc. that right there is part of what makes us humans
I’ve only been watching JRE for about 3 months now. The best and sadly most unique aspects of his interviews is he actually lets people complete their thoughts. He doesn’t force every answer to conform to quick 30 seconds sound bits. Most things cannot be adequately presented unless given enough time. Keep it up sir!

@@MATTHRPE I haven't really been looking much tbh just going of what I seen decades ago in regards to mainstream archaeology putting down such people who had catastrophe theories and instantly calling them crackpots.
I appreciate that Randall uses every piece of information. Geological, climate, fossils, stories in the Bible, stories by aboriginal populations that were considered myths or tails… He correlates all of it as evidence to support a relatively strong theory of what may have happened 10,000 years ago, 15,000 years ago, and so on. Someone like Randall who isn't afraid to tie all of these pieces of information together, information that others may view as controversial, is greatly needed.
Nice comment I agree. It's like he's not just using one particular skill set and conditioned to think that way to base all his theories on. Like archeologists don't like the idea of civilizations that pre date that of all they're life's work, they aren't prepared to accept that because all the time they have put in, all the documents they've prepared relating to their findings will simply be erased. I can't believe how much evidence there is now which re-writes everything and is fundamental to how we understand our development through generations is being brushed under the carpet.
This is the most interesting interview I've seen in ages. He is so well versed and easy to comprehend. I wish I could sit and listen to this amazing scholar forever.
This guy is the rare combination of a person with immense brain power coupled with the ability to communicate to average human beings in a way that makes sense, while totally lacking in the pretentious attitude that sometimes consumes his peers.
It's because he is a commoner. Self educated and self taught regarding the subjects he is proficient in. Other words he isn't the snoody uptight intellectual professor type because he isn't attached to the culture of academia and universities.

Joe is by far one of the most talented interviewers I've ever seen. He is genuinely interested in every one of the people he has on the show and what they have to say and never, as far as I've seen, tries to embarrass or belittle his guests. It's 2021 and cop has just finished, most of the world leaders have decided to blame their own people for climate change and have agreed to cut down on coal usage etc. Greta and insulate Britain featured in the process but not once was someone like Randall asked to speak or give any information on the subject and there's something fundamentally wrong with that.
One of the most talented for sure. I mean he's lost some energy and gained some cynicism in recent years, but I'd say that still stands. Then you go on places like Reddit, and judging by their consensus, one would think Joe Rogan is super republican alt-right transphobic short old-man trash and he's ruining several generations of younger people. Tbf, he needs a good strong DMT or Mushroom trip, but man those people overexaggerate fucking EVERYTHING.

I love this podcast, where else do you hear information like this? I listen to this and other related podcasts fairly often. Randal and Graham are incredible and thanks to Joe for having them on.
I had that exact same revelation at 16 while standing at the edge of the valley I grew up near, but I chose to waste my life working in factories. This man is special not because of his ability to imagine the past, but in his decision and determination to follow through with it. Excellent work.
I was at the gorge in Seattle over looking Columbia river and thought the same thing. Same for Grand Canyon.you can’t tell me the river carved 800 feet deep.
@@tsimakis100 There's no gorge in Seattle man We're a bit sensitive about that mistake As for the gorge itself While you were looking down into it Imagine being underneath 1000 feet of water. Now multiply those floods for tens of thousands of years. There's far more to explore in central and eastern Washington. Believe me I've spent my lifetime doing it

Fascinating. Helps make you realize how truly temporary everything is. That at some point, everything we ever were; everything we built, will be eroded with time. Makes me feel relaxed and peaceful. I tend to believe the world would be a more peaceful place if we all were taught this... taught to understand how truly temporary all things we think are so important truly are
I love how Joe allows his expert guest tell their story. Some hosts feel like they have to prove that they are smart or equals. Joe is smart but he knows that he too is learning along with us as well when we watch his show.
I don't disagree, because I hate interviewers cutting off their guests. But my lord, him not knowing what a mile is at 15:10 and asking if it's 35,000 feet was disappointing. That's some real basic knowledge.
Randall has the amazing and much needed ability to infect those who listen to him speak with a child-like, in terms of awe inspiring imagination and wonderment, curiosity that truly makes you want to dig just a little bit further into a plethora of topics many of those who consider themselves more knowledgable considered settled/thoroughly figured out from top to bottom. His talks have helped me to understand that everything isn't absolutely "figured out", and no longer needs any more looking into or thoughtful consideration. In a nutshell, we can always teach ourselves more about everything, no matter how much we think we already know about everything.
To quote Socrates, "Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel." May the light of education lead us not only to the sunrise but to the galaxyrise. The new glorious dawn of the 400 billion suns of the Milky Way...

@@invin7215 very interesting stuff, I'm just now getting into Randall Carlson's stuff and oh boy is it intriguing.

Go listen to his interview with Danny Jones. MIND BLOWING. The research Randall does, and the results he discovers are amazing.

This. 100%

One of the best interviews by far. Listened to this like 4 times now over the years.

I am just now seeing this video 8 years later and I am so sucked in to this theory. I will be deep diving into this topic to learn more. This is by far my favorite episode!
ME TOO!! I found this episode 3 years ago and I have been "deep diving" ever since. Be sure to watch Graham Hancock and Randall Carlson together here on JRE. Amazing material, very well documented.
This man had a debate on Joe Rogan not too long ago. It was very Good and Randall, In my opinion came out much better off. His theory seems to have some serious legs under it.
I could listen to Randall for ever. What a dedicated, legendary man to his field. In years to come, maybe long after Randall and the rest of us are gone, he will be remembered as the guy who was right.
Randall is compelling for NOT specializing his mastery of a single field of study. We need more generalists.

Exactly, it’s what we are made for!
Weird, mine has more of a 🌟 glowing 🌟 feeling 😁
Absolutely, my friend. I'm so glad others share that sentiment.
Why sadly?
@@user-ez5eq6ti1n It should be common, instead of unique. Imagine if Fox News, CNN, The View, etc. etc. all let their guests explain, instead of cherry-picking what they want, leaving little time for rebuttals, or vital information. You havn't heard David Talbot, Wal Thonrhill among others then, compared to them, Randall is way off and just a tiny bit of the whole truth

@@MATTHRPE I haven't really been looking much tbh just going of what I seen decades ago in regards to mainstream archaeology putting down such people who had catastrophe theories and instantly calling them crackpots.
Behemoth was probably a sauropod.

Cop would rather listen to a adolescent spoilt brate than someone who has made this his life interest and has looked deeply at facts and is willing to stand along side anyone and argue his case ,where as this little madam goes around throwing her toys out of her pram and world leaders listen to her nonsense ,she needs to stay in school and her parents need to stop brain washing her and using her like some kind of ventriloquist doll .,they haven't got the guts to stand up and say what they want to say they train her to fo it for them All I see is as I've said earlier is a spoilt brate spitting venom
Exactly why isn't he or a group of people like him at that event showing how not all the damage was caused by humans or if it is in is actual damage that the Earth itself cannot repair there have been hundreds of years of warming and hundreds of years of cooling who's to say what's going on more than someone who has studied it his whole life, but like you say they'd rather hear some eighteen-year-old girl yell at us that it's all our fault LOL
