I parked my 86 supercab 4x4 20 years ago with full tanks. Put new batteries in and she fired right up(w/either) changed filters ,tires, glow plugs,, oil, brake lines to wheels and shes good
Just pick up a 1987 f250 6.9 idi about a month ago. It was rebuilt all around in 2017. Got it for 950. It's an amazing truck and it runs like a champ. Can't wait to see this get rebuilt..
Nice, last year I got a F350 4×4 7.3 idi for 500.00 dollars and it runs great. I should be getting it back soon from the body shop. I love it 😀. Great 👍 find!
Good old bullnose Ford diesel trucks. Sturdy engines with zero emissions equipment to choke it up, and no turbo to fail. One can turn the injector pump a notch for more power. Glow plugs a main need, and replace with Motorcraft ONLY. Worthwhile replacing the delay circuit to prevent glow plugs burning up, too. Axles stout, transmission and cooling as well. Tires one can run 10-ply 265/75R16 easily enough. Bodies rust, but mostly due to bad factory finish those body years, so worthy of repair, painting and Line-X coating. Seats interchangeable with Super Duty seats from 1999+ I've been told. Otherwise just keep fluids changed, filters too, add diesel additive too, as most is low sulfur at the pumps.

Was happy to see a rust proof package on the dealership receipt in the glove box from 83' besides the patina its rust free 👌

Haven't had time but once I do I'm most likely looking at pulling the glow plugs and turning it over by hand and then we'll go from there.
