So I hooked it up to the interwebnet thing, grab a free trial of UltraIso, and mangaged to make 4 iso's, and even tranfer them to USB at a staggering 3Mb/s, before the ancient relic crashed. (First crash in 6 years!!!) I was actually surprised that the discs still worked, bought new in 2004, they have been the only thing that has stuck by me. House fire, moving country, being ignored for a decade, they still were there for me. So anyway, after mounting the iso's in W11, and installing Generals and Zero Hour, it would not work. My solution.....Google! Found that very helpful GenPatcher. That did its thing, and asked to install GenTool, and BAM! It works!! Goodbye life, it's time to play, for the first time in over 10 years, Command & Conquer Generals!
What program did you use to create the .iso files from the CDs? I tried using a bunch of tools but no luck so far and they kept running into read errors.
If anyone have trouble installing Zero Hour expansion just copy CD1 then CD2 into a folder and run setup that way. Somehow my UK Delux edition was not recognising CD2 of ZH when inserted in cd tray or mounted.
My problem starts at 1:12 . instead of telling me to enter a code. there is a message that pops out " The game C & C general wasn't found. make sure it's installed completely ". I would really appreciate if you can help me with that.
Wondering if anyone else has run into the problem of not being able to scroll during gameplay. I followed this video exactly so the setup is the same, Windowed Mode, etc. Normally, just moving the mouse left/right/up/down scrolls the map. The only way I can scroll the map is holding down the right mouse button and then moving the mouse left/right/up/down to scroll. Anybody experience this or knows of a fix?
If you have used GenTool, and checked 'Borderless (Fullscreen) window mode, it will not edge-scroll if you use the windowed shortcuts.. I don't use the shortcuts for windowed mode, I deleted them. Just use the normal shortcuts. It works perfectly, and you can edge scroll. It is still fullscreen at 1080, and smooth as a 20 year old game can be!

I wanted to ask you if you've run into a bug with the 4th Chinese mission on zero hour, where it will not continue the waves after about the 5th so the mission will never complete. Do you know of a solution for this? does Gen Patcher possibly have a solution for this?

I dont want to buy the ultimate edition from EA since the only games I need is generals and zero hours.
So I'm doing this install and when I go for the hot keys download it tells me that I wont be able to play online due to a compatibility issue with something... Do you know if there is a fix? the version is like 1.7......
we managed to play once with a friend, but the 2nd time onwards (another day) we always get mismatch after a couple of minutes in the game. I noticed that after applying fixes (fixes applied/green) in genpatcher 2.05, closing it and reopening it it is saying fixes are not applieed (red) . Doing it again it becomes green without a delay and then again, if I close genpatcher and reopen it immediately it's the same all over... The game is now always giving us mismatch :( Can you help please? :/

Hello Legi, I have a question concerning genpatcher. Recently I intalled your hotkey profile (with indicators), but for some reason it keeps displaying Leikeze's indicators on screen ( I had that hotkey profile installed before). For example, sell shows a P on the display, but is actually a J (like it should be) when you hover your mouse over it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the hotkey profiles in a multitude of ways but the issue persists. Do you have any idea how I could fix this, since I really like your hotkey setup (especially the hotkeys for the general powers/superweapons etc. :D). For now I'm running them without the indicators, but I'd really like to play with them (helps with muscle memory and all that) I thought I'd ask here since this is your most recent video (and you do mention genpatcher in it, so it's not entirely misplaced.) Thx in advance!
Thx, reinstalling worked! Norton was still blocking (or atleast trying) genpatcher after turning the auto-protect and firewall functions off before running it. Very strange, since I've always turned them off in the past to run genpatcher. I even added scan exceptions to Genpatcher and the C&C data folders, yet it somehow persists. Wouldn't be the first time that Norton is giving me headaches, though xD. So I was afraid it would still not allow proper installation, but it did. All the hotkeys now display properly, with indicators. Thx for taking the time to respond, really appreciate it! You do some awesome work for this community, keep it up :D.

Well, in case anyone else has this problem, reinstalling the graphics card fixed it. It's kinda dumb that they sell you a laptop with preinstalled OS but with shitty drivers...
EA did not contact me or the creator of GenTool about their release on Steam. so right now, we both are looking at what we can do in order to get things working. please do bare with us...
Switch off your anti virus, the run the game installer as administrator and install it. While anti virus is still disabled, download GenPatcher, and then run it. It should work
