Hi David, I have enjoyed what you and your team have done so far, I look forward to the next episode, I hope you and your staff a b d family are keeping safe and well, in the crazy times, best regards from Australia
At 3:00 the first coarse of blocks for the wall are going down, was the concrete footer poured very dry? Is a dry mix with no slump best for getting the blocks on it best right to string line and elevation right away? Obviously the footer concrete isn’t floated or finished by any means the mix looks like it’s just lumped in there dry. Just leave the mix a lil high then lightly thump the block down to elevation.
My goodness, you make it look so easy. Ehh, get some block, dig a hole, string a line, butter it up n POOF, a gorgeous stucco retaining wall! Dude, you’re like the Michael Jordan of Concrete! I wish you were located near me! Lol
Very nice wall! Is the other side exposed block? I also think the code that limits the height to 36" at the walk is a good one. Not only does it insure visibility but it looks much nicer too.
They installed in my house payvers of the red that you are putting on top of the retaining wall, but what I realized is that they put them well together and they just put concrete mix on the bottom part and they did not put it on the edges, no I know if that is why they were glued together without mixing, I don't know if they did it to save time and material, do you think they will last a long time? Or do you think they are starting to come unstuck? I asked and he told me that it looks better that way than with cement in the joints of the payvers
That looks to be about a 2-3 foot wall. At what point would it be necessary to include weep screed at the bottom of the stucco wall? Or is weep screed not required for deco wall because it has mortar and block behind the stucco?
@@OdellCompleteConcrete thank you ive watched your videos which are awesome and saw many tools being used. I didnt want to waste $$ on unneeded tools for my time !!!
What brands of mortar and stucco did you use? you said it’s probably gonna be painted is there a specific kind of primer you use or do you just go over it with normal primer normal paint? Thank you David
always a good watch my dude . . . it's good to see people still doin it correctly and paying attention . . . it's also becoming mildly entertaining imagining David vibing to the tracking of a video during editing hahaha :) some of the music just doesn't seem like it'd be 'in your wheelhouse' there Dave :)_
I got the same one from Home Depot. It's by Kushlan. It's literally the only one they carry in stock. One thing is the gear box on mine was bone dry. Make sure to fill that gearbox with gear oil otherwise it won't last very long!
Does anyone know if you can do this in the deep South (Georgia) I suppose I should just call some cement company or landscaping design company. A few people have told me that the stucco finish wont work because of the humidity. The wall I want is only 2 feet tall. I just dont want exposed cement block. Thought it would look better if I covered it.
That looks gorgeous and timeless. I’m going to do the same thing in my backyard here in Texas. I think it’ll go great with the limestone that I already have.
David, wouldn't it have been cheap and easier just to make concrete forms and pour concrete in the molds? Since you're covering the brick lines anyways?
Real question here- if you had to do 4m long, 1.2m high retaining wall with ground flushed on top using glass fiber rods, how many would you put them? in the same manner as here, every third hole? it has to hold that ground above and whole wall will act as a weight for tree roots so the tree wont fall. i'll be using blocks where you can put horizontally 2 rows of rebars too. i was surprised there is alternative for steel bars :D
@@OdellCompleteConcrete yes, i know. how thick would you use as minimum? i was thinking about using 8mm for horizontal, maybe same or bit thicker as vertical (10mm and thicker are sold in 1.5m pieces) and i want to grout it fully. manufacturer only says that his bars have same strength as steel ones
@@OdellCompleteConcrete oh that makes sense . I thought it was to mark ur elevation or something 😆. I'm about to stucco my clay brick planter following your company's tips

I love the classic California Mission look with white stucco and red bricks .You see this all over California especially in beach towns.

I'm doing this to my home. We have brick in the front rod iron fence. We're going with a Spanish Colonial look.

So the stucco is white already?
