This game makes extensive use of ancient Chinese, which makes it really difficult to achieve accuracy in translation. I hope that everyone won't be bothered by some strange vocabulary.
Yeah, Wukong is the original OP character. The dude wage a one man war against heaven and hell and cause so much chaos, his name is synonymous with fear through heaven and earth. Also he won that war. The Buddha himself have to come down and intervene before he literally flip the heaven upside down, and finally seal him under the mountain for 500 years. Everyone is scared shitless of the guy. The only reason the journey take as long as it did, is because Wukong have to restrain himself from senseless killing, learn compassion and sympathy. Journey to the West is more about Wukong then the rest of the cast. Oh he is virtually immortal btw. Nothing can kill him.
Goku is literally 59 in Japanese. The character is slightly inspired by the journey to west story and that inspiration more or less ended with the original run of Dragon ball.

As someone who doesn’t play Destiny anymore but found this in my recommended because of Wukong videos, it was nice hearing that voice again. Exotic reviews on this channel was a vibe.
Anything involved with China is already seen in a bad light in certain parts of the US and Western Europe so it unfortunately makes sense why there are people who don’t know Sun Wukong and the characters/ stories he has inspired.
Now see, in game mechanics Sun Wukong can transform into his defeated enemies in order to absorb them. However in the novel Sun Wukong can literally just look you one time in the eye and make 80,000 clones of you and sit and watch you as you fight his clones of you and the clones of you will all equal your strength.
I wouldn't say he IS a shapedhifter, since shapeshifting is just one of his techniques that he acquired through learning. he also learnt to be immortal...

Hey guys, in the trailer, there is a repeating chanting, starts from "namo-a-mi-da-ba-ya", it is a Buddhist Mantra REBIRTH IN PURE LAND, where buddhists use it for people, animal, any sentient beings cross over to the other side, so that they can go to or reborth in better place. I guess even WuKong have to kill, he has to send the defeated to better place with compassion.

Games like the latest FF7 or MK1 are still on UE4 and have hella input delay even on PC. Companies just drop UE4 and switch to 5 like everyone else. If that means longer wait times for game development so be it, but when they do come out and it looks pretty AND plays well? Me finding out most gamers/anime fans had no idea that Son Goku of Dragonball is actually a cheap knock off of Sun Wu Kong the Monkey King and LITERALLY the strongest fighting deity of the Chinese Taoist Pantheon... fuck you guys don't know what you're missing. Also highly recommend Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons, damn good film (gonna wat h it again later), there are a ton of films covering Sun Wu Kong's story, Donnie Yen has played the character. And yes Son Goku is based on Sun Wu Kong, the ape transformation, Nyoibo (the staff) & Nimbus (which I don't know for sure is in the original Journey to the West, but was definitely in the Monkey tv series)

Tragically, that friend's no longer with us to theorize about the game lore, or to experience it himself.
