I'm so thankful they air the full episodes for us outside the US now. Boss move! 😁👍🏾
I like that they make this move
As i am from a country outside the US where it a day faster than US time😊
Agreed!
I live in the US and I'm using a VPN to watch this.
ditto, thanks from Türkiye
I didn't even notice this is the official channel 😮
I agree, it's fantastic 👏❤️
I never thought I'd search for aeroplane models along with ticket prices but here we are. Thanks, Boeing.
Unfortunately, it is not always possible. I have been trying to avoid flying with Boeing planes for some years now, but often the airlines change the model of the plane due to scheduling, maintenance issues and so on. So you can never know for certain what kind of plane will show up for your trip.
@@jake_ Yes it is tough for frequent travelers as yourself who fly on airlines which have hundreds of crafts in their fleet. But generally if you use one or two airlines, you can get to know their fleet. Problem is that one doesn't have the luxury to pick and choose unless it's like a leisure holiday travel or something.
Not surprised personally, as at the same time Indonesia ban 737Max is the same time you cannot fly while carrying samsung ied
Hope these airlines have a quality escape... away from Boeing.
@@HowToChangeName It was Not at all the Same day and what you are implying is wrong as well. Did you even watch the Video? The reasons for the Crash are widely known for a Long Time now and very simply explained in this Episode.
It's nice that I can now watch Last Week Tonight totally legally on TH-cam, rather than having to watch it ✨totally legally✨ elsewhere.
Damn didn't expect a youtuber I watch here but hi! Honestly I'm so happy to be watching full episode on youtube.
Also hope that your other channel is doing okay I saw your comunity post about youtube banning it or something (Sorry for any grammar mistakes I'm not a native English speaker)
LOL didn't expect to bump into you here. But yes, agreed.
Don't worry, it's ✨️super allowed✨️
One week passed, sign the deal already Justice Thomas
I thouught it was 30 days

@closedcl8 there's so many things happening rn, it feels like a month of events in a single week.
Sorry, a billionare called and offered him $1,000,001 a year to stay seated.
@@pancakemogul We need some pledge system, so we can pledge a dollar over in addition to Johns offer. John gives a million, 3 million people giving additional dollar and we have one happy ex judge.
That whole “coasting on their past reputation” comment is absolutely spot on. It’s a wide spread practice in america. Watching it happen in real time has been infuriating and aggravating.
Especially since reputation is something that takes years to build and moments to destroy.
Harley Davidson looks up angry from some loose bolts on the floor. 😅
Beyond that this is literally just the exact standard pattern of capitalism. Businesses lobby for less regulation, they get what they want, they line their pockets at the expense of everyone else, safety and standards for the workers and general public gets worse. It happens literally every time it's allowed to as evidenced by the Gilded Age, by the 1920s, by the entire period from 1970-present. Capitalism inherently moves to monopoly and then making everything shit for everyone but a very few people.
Its scary that it works, especially when its exported as not many people there even know the downgrade it has
When the way of the world is guided by the will of shareholders, and the invisible hand of the market is handcuffed or stuck holding the TV remote, short term profits become more important than everything else a company should be caring about.
im gonna be recurring here more often just because of the full episodes. feels like watching premieres
In 2 months he’s probably gonna be live-streaming them and making live reaction commentary to them
The date format being non-American threw me off 😅
Very considerate for us international audiences
Especially since the previous ones were m/d/yy. Maybe just an accident. They should just follow ISO 8601.
ISO 8601 is the exact inverse of non us format, the us format is just “let’s do something different than the rest” 😀

Airbus commercial: Relax we are not Boieng!
But we still cut corners
Do you have any evidence for that?
My friend... Business is business... How does any company make this kind of crazy profit?
Onde I heard, costs is like nails... You need to cut to maintaining the profit.
It is not a problem for Boeing, aviation industry... It's a problem for the profit priority philosophy. When profit is the main goal, in any industry... Quality will have some impact.
@@Naoquerose I don't remember any QA problems(or any design-related incident) on airbus planes though
Ah. So you're saying "No evidence. Just a vague feeling." Got it.
I'm surprised the writers didn't go for the obvious "if it's Boeing, I'm NOT going!" :D
I saw a really good visual meme actually... Boeing, but it's the sound effect when the plane hits the ground.
i thought of that while watching too! quite the missed opportunity haha
Or the other one that says. "If ain't Boeing, I ain't going. But if it's a Max, I am not a pax."

As a Brazilian, I am SO glad the merge with Embraer never happened.
The tear down Roy Wood Jr's face was Emmy deserving... 😂
My friend did an internship at boeing. They said it was a toxic work environment. So sad to see how immoral corporations have become.
Become? When were corporations the pinnacle of morality?
@@casperes0912 Right?
corporations are designed to do one thing: maximize profit. Everything else is secondary.
Almost as if, perhaps, it would be beneficial for workers to have more significant say in how their workplace is run.
@@casperes0912 boeing used to be engineering focused. DC (later MD) sloppily copied competitors' planes and marketed them aggressively. After the merger, Boeing acquired that culture.
Making that camel cover was the best day at work that business journalist ever had.
Think about the camel cover admission process 😂. Hardest work in a long time I would guess.
I mean... it was a designer who did that. And that's a regular day in the life of a designer.
@@weltenkrank7807 Oh, I am sure it was... hard.
Much Love John Oliver ❤
Thank you Business Daddy for the full episode😊
Think it was Business Mommy that won an argument there ^^
Having these on TH-cam is just too awesome.
I love that that they brought in Roy Wood Jr. for the bit at the end! That man is a comedic treasure! 😂
I'm so sad he's left the Daily Show, but it was fun to see him pop up here.
I don't know if I'm still the only Maldivian watching this. But thank you so much for finally having full episodes
Ey man watching from Romania
Cheers!
Boeing was an example, even here in Brazil (where we don’t usually glorify American engineering).
I’m a mechanical engineer and we studied Boeing in college as its engineering department was instrumental in the development of FEA - the basis of computer simulation for EVERYTHING built nowadays.
Boeing revolutionized not only airplanes, but engineering itself. It is one of the greatest contributions a company has made to modern engineering.
And now, the company is a shell of itself, and a danger to us all.
11:35 I love how Boeing clip shows something that looks like a cruise missile and then the guy goes "I wanted to develop products that have global reach and a global impact". Little bit on the nose, Boeing, little bit on the nose
Stock price isn't all that's blowing up!
Is a missile impact sensor in the nosecone or nose housing? 🤔
if I'm not mistaken, that's an X-51, an experimental scramjet aircraft.
Flying tomorrow, just checked - phew, it's an Airbus. What a relief.

@@yaaraamozig4862Why? The only person I can think of now is Jon Stewart, John Oliver's mentor. And the consistent Emmy winning backs it up.
See how aiming for profit-seeking as your primary goal hurts you in the end? That's an inherent problem of unregulated free markets. Potential catastrophic costs like these accidents are never factored or priced-in as that would hurt incentives which would negatively affect corporate bottom lines.
Short-sightedness + Bonuses to executives for increasing stock prices = What could go wrong?
The costs weren't cut, they were externalised in those passenger deaths and flight cancellations.
@@NicholasLimRF Exactly. These are sacrifices they were willing to make.
What struck me in the narrative is how the first plane they applied this cost-cutting method to was late and massively overbudget... and yet they did not think "wait a minute, that's money we might have saved, and earned more in the long run, if we invested a bit more into the development and rolled the plane out sooner with less problems."
Hmm. Almost as if the old culture, where the workers were the focus and had a say in how their company that their labor keeps afloat is run, was just objectively better for the proper functioning of a business.
And almost as if investing in quality people and quality products might be better than throwing all your money at a speculative investment loop...
You know, there was this one German guy who wrote about all that once.
There are ao many issues with LOTS of companies putting shareholders first, I don't think it will be fixed anytime soon but good that the word is spreading.
The only time a company has no issues from putting shareholders first is when the shareholders are, to the last person, the people who actually do work for the company.
It's weird how this bird making me smile and a bit depressing at the same time.

I happily repeat what so many others have already stated: Profound thanks for posting full episodes! A glimmer of light in a darkening world.
I love that you're posting the full episodes now! Thank you from Brasil.
I only have the same question as I have on 90% of LWT episodes: why is no one in jail for this yet?
I wonder, too. Guilt seems to dissolve the closer it gets to the top.

It sucks so bad that "Max" would ask you to cut things for profit, John.
I'm so happy this show keeps going under a nightmare of unregulated corporations.

The most hated shop on the flightline used to be Quality Control (QC). 🤨
I think in most engineering sectors QCs are the most hated department, apart from HRs. I joked on that if they don't find out minor and tiny defects they would not have achieved their KPIs.
But QCs are important. Sometimes its just about reputation of the company. But sometimes, its life or death sentences for others life
whoaaa now that I can see the whole show, never imagine John made a little dance every time the shows starts haha
This show is amazing! Thank you very much for the full episode, I'm watching it from France :)

11 years too late but at least it's done.
Now if they would just upload their back catalog
@@flipinaThey will i believe.
I love that David Costabile from Suits was there as an FAA inspector. Nice touch.
Unless you invade them... lmfao
(Bush Junior did something similar recently..... "At an event at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas on Wednesday, the former president called out “the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq.” He quickly corrected himself, saying, “I mean Ukraine,” but he proceeded to chuckle and mutter “Iraq, too” under his breath to laughter from the audience.")
It's truly disconcerting to see how Boeing's corporate culture has drastically shifted from its original focus on quality and safety to profitability being the prime concern. The repercussions are severe and life-threatening. A thorough reform is critical. Concerns of the workers on the production line should be addressed promptly and effectively. Safety should supersede profits.
thank you for keep talking about Gaza

Greed & corruption EVERYWHERE in this country!🤦🏾♀️🤬
Tell me again that capitalism promotes inovation.
Frankly, maybe the scariest part for me is how Boeing and Airbus are by far the only major players in commercial airliners. If Boeing were to collapse - like if they were seen as so unsafe that it killed airlines' ability to fill planes - it would absolutely devastate worldwide air travel. This is a market that NEEDS more significant players.
EMBRAER!
I'm so damn happy they uploaded whole episodes for us to watch!!
What was depicted here is a trend happening across other industries as well. I have seen similar issues happening in the OEM automotive sector: sub-contracting and externalizing services and component manufacturing and not properly handling integration and quality control, etc. In the end, the managers are just prioritizing profits and reduced delivery timelines against quality, and this is not something you want to have in this kind of safety concerned companies.
That Usain joke was top tier
Making the whole episodes available outside of the US is what's called a pro gamer move

I just love Last Week Tonight or how I like to call it: Thank god I'm not American, weekly reminder!
I remember the crazy amount of conspiracies around the missing plane from indonesia, but I never heard the real tale. It's crazy the cost cutting issue we are seeing recently has been a factor all the way since then
Meanwhile, no Boeing executives has gone to jail despite repeated crashes and hundreds of fatalities
so many companies make the same mistake, especially when the CEO's single aim is to generate value to their shareholders
That Boeing commercial had a helluva cast: Roy Wood Jr., Rose Byre, and I think I recognized that guy from that old SNL commercial from the 80s about a bank that only makes change. Fantastic!
