Oh man, this is awesome. The perfect video - this is how every tab should be. Everything clearly displayed, you can see fretting positions if something perplexes you, and even get a feel as its played at whatever speed you want.
Yeah the picking feels a little awkward, especially while palm muting it. Just practice it nice and slow until you get the feel of it, then try upping the speed a little bit at a time. You'll get it!
@@samichpower Fr man, I play through a Mig 50 majority of the time now and have a few other amps but I remember using a cheap crate 2x12 combo for years still got that amp I'll never get rid of it definitely needs to be retubed lol but it breaks up so well and is killer in a bedroom. My Mig 50 doesn't get turned on without an attenuator lmao
I really like the Modern setting for metal tones. With this setting I rarely move the gain above 9-10 o'clock, I find less is more with gain. When it's lower you get more note clarity while still having a good bit of grit to the sound, but sometimes you'll want to turn it up for a nice distortion. For the lows, mids, and treble, I'd base that on how your guitar sounds. My ESP is a darker sounding guitar so I usually turn the treble up to compensate a bit. I keep the lows fairly low to leave room for the bass guitar. Mids I adjust to taste. A lot of people like to scoop their mids, I generally keep mine somewhat high and EQ it lower later if I need to. Also you can use your volume knob to control the amount of distortion. As you turn down the volume your tone will clean up a bit before the volume goes down. I use this all the time. Another cool trick is to keep the gain really high but keep your volume rolled down just a bit to clean up the tone a little while still keeping some dirt. You'll have a good distortion tone and you can add more or less distortion by adjusting the volume knob up or down. Honestly just play around with it and use your ear. Watch videos on dialing in an amp to see how other people like their sound. If it sounds good to you then it is good! 😊
Oooh good question. Out of the songs I've learned I think Geneva is pretty easy and straightforward for Russian Circles. Harper Lewis is pretty easy, aside from the tapping section. Thank you for watching ♥
@@dieforelle1141 So the song is exactly how it sounds on the record. I just recorded my guitar over the top of that but made mine slightly louder so it stands out a bit. I also EQ'd out the low end so it fits more nicely in the mix. Hope this helps! 😃
Oh man it's been so long I can't remember exactly, but I use a Yamaha THR-10 on the modern setting. Messing around just now I got a similar tone with the gain at 9 o clock, bass 11 o clock, mids 12 o clock, and highs 1 o clock. Also for the video in my DAW I EQ'd out the low end around 160hz and added a slight boost around 850hz. Hope this helps!
@@bocherks Yeah it's really interesting tuning. He plays a lot in DADGAD which is popular with celtic music. I think he started there and just dropped the high and low D by a note.
3:12 is genuinely the coolest riff I've ever heard
It's so badass
The chugging riff at 2:45 goes so unbelievably hard, such excellent songwriting.
It's so heavy, and so simple. I love riffs like that
Holy shit, somebody makes tabs for russian circles, niceee
Hell yeah 😎
they were already on songsterr

@@samichpower Really love these videos and you've given me something to do this evening as I try to shake the rust off of my guitar playing.
@@tofu1608 Aw yeah! That makes me glad to hear. Russian Circles songs are fun as hell to play
That tapping part is so damn good and you nailed it. Nice work.
Aw thank you! It's really satisfying to play once you get the feel for it
Well done, thank you for this cover. One day I’ll gather all my strength and try to play this
I appreciate it! Dude you should go for it. It's tricky for sure but once you get the tapping part down it feels amazing to play
Awesome cover of a great song!
Thank you!
wow! nice cover... one of these days will tune the guitar to that and try to play it. Thank you for this video!
Thank you so much! I say give it a go sometime, it's a really fun tuning to play around with
This is so sick. Need to learn this asap. Incredible job dude!
Thank you! Go for it, it's a ton of fun to play 😃
Great job ! Respect and thanks
Thank you!

No problem! 😄
It's not that weird just trying dadgad
Awesome dude! 🤘🏻

Thank you! 😀
well done!!

Great job!

Awesome❤
Thanks ❣
I could play the first minute and a half of this song with no problem. 1:31 is where the trouble starts.

Nicely done bro.
Thanks!

Hey, awesome job! Is there any way to get your Tabs to print them? Would help massivley to learn the songs :)
Thank you! I could upload my tabs somewhere. If I do I'll let you know 😄
Second this request! Please and thank you.
@@KrullJohn I'll see what I can do!
Now I just need a good amplifier to play this
I use a Yamaha THR10. It cost me $200 and it sounds amazing for a home practice/recording amp.

@@samichpower Woah learning this now and have the same amp. What sorta settings do you have on it? I'm crappy at getting a good guitar tone 😅😅

What would be the easiest Russian song to begin with? Mota? Burial? What do you think? Love this band. TY

Great video and Amazing cover, what string gauge are you using for that tuning?
Thank you! I believe it's D'Addario NYXL 10-46.
yes
😎🙏
the tapping part would look so much cooler if you had a bunch of rings on
That would be badass
Ita Parker Lewis actually 😂😂😂😂
yo, where can i find version without guitar? to practice
I am unsure if a version like that exists. I wish it did though, it would definitely help with practice!
@@samichpower how are you played it? Silencing main guitar or...?

I wish this guy was in Iron Maiden instead of Jannick.
That'd be sick, Mike Sullivan is a beast of a songwriter
3:13 best riff ever
What a weird tuning
I wonder what gave him the idea to tune a guitar this way. It's like learning how to play a new instrument.
@@bocherks Yeah it's really interesting tuning. He plays a lot in DADGAD which is popular with celtic music. I think he started there and just dropped the high and low D by a note.
Could this not be played in drop C# though? Same tuning as other songs in that album.
(lower middle 4 strings by a semi-tone)
It's just dadgad dropped half a step, it's tuning makes it impossible not to sound good lol
