100% agree! You can tell in most videos they chop out all the bits that dont go to plan so it looks like they got it pefrect first time. This shows the real side of working on the tools mistakes are made but with skill and experience you can right any wrong!
OMG. 13 minutes I am mesmerized watching some guy finish a concrete step. The stumble...the patience, the technique...and OH the cigarette..it had it all. I'm on the edge of my seat....I gotta get a life!
Broken in and worn down used mags are better for finishing concrete. New crisp floats suck a fat one, they gouge at first till they're broken in...Hence it gets relegated to placing only....and all that hard crap can be scraped off and cleaned. When it's 90+ out and your knee deep there's no time for it.
I like to 45 the bottom of the form on my steps. Then you can get your mag under the form helps to keep that divet when you pull your form from the face
Make sure you don't send the finishers for beer and get stuck using the laborer for a demonstration on a wet face that should have took two minutes to complete.

Cut a 45 at the bottom of your face form and you wont have to scrub out that inch and a half. If you grade a step right you don't need that cut at the bottom. I've never seen a crack that far away from a face. If they do it's always right in the crotch. Looks good though.
