  • Has been since September that I replaced both actuators and the car has been great! Sometimes a little jittery but has been solid running for a very cheap fix and easy! I hope this video helped you.
    I bought both actuators on Amazon at less than half the cost through Ford.

    Great video... Thanks!!
    Here's the "Transmission Reset" sequence:
    1... Key in ignition. Turn car over and engine running.
    2... Put gear into Neutral
    3... Turn car off and wait for 25 secs.
    4... Shift into Park.
    5... Turn Car on, but not running. Wait 25 secs.
    6... Turn car off, then back on (not running) & Shift into D (or S) real fast.
    7... Wait 25 secs. When Reset... It should display " Transmission Ready" when done. (After 45 secs or, so it may display it as you slowly go through the gears back to Park.)
    8... It should now be ready for "Adaptive Learning".
    Good Luck!! ✌

      It could definitely be the shift actuators. It's the cheapest and easiest fix anyhow. You could try doing a transmission relearn. If it's not the actuator, then possibly a open/broke wire or transmission control module issue.

      Your tutorial video is simple and to the point.
      Mine is a 2013 Ford focus with 72k.
      I just wish Ford used an earlier style Automatic 5 speed transmission from the earlier models.
      I installed the lower motor mount from the electric focus ( motorcraft) works better. I had an aftermarket "solid" mount, the car had too much vibration. I highly recommend this mount. And run your tires to about 36-38 psi

    @kahugumuiruri9057 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I did the same to my car. Did the ground connection points as well. The battery was tested good. The problem went away for hours. This Ford Dual Clutch on the Focus is just one of the worst transmissions made. It made what would be a fairly okay vehicle to be a pain one has to put up with as long as they have the vehicle. Its a job i would not advise one to do.

    • @wickedrepairs8527
      @wickedrepairs8527  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is definitely a terrible design! Totally agree! These engineers over complicated things all the time, sometimes simple is just better. I would attempt to try it again if it only lasted for some hours for the heck of it before chasing anything else major.

    Been a rough three weeks for me and i got bad news y'all. It wasnt my TCM it was my whole clutch and my forks. $2,200 later the car is back in the driveway with a new engine mount as well for free because apparently those always break on this model of car. The actuator motor fix is definitely an option to try though worked once for me and bought me time but unfortunately my whole clutch was seized and looked absolutely rough (i did get to see it ) but the motors dont come in the clutch kt and theyll cost extra if they need replaced so definitely go ahead and do this yourself amd save $500 on the motors.

    • @mistwolf1315
      @mistwolf1315 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And the $2,200 was a far cry from the $3,800 Ford wanted and my local Ford come to find out will outsource the repairs to this local shop when they get to busy. So if you get this bad news call around get quotes and don't let Ford bully you.

    • @wickedrepairs8527
      @wickedrepairs8527  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! Thanks for sharing your experience. Sorry to hear that! Definitely rough. Was there discoloration of the clutch? Or excessive clutch fibers? I believe that if the TCM is an issue, it usually throws a wrench light, not a check engine light. Hopefully it last a lifetime for you now. Was that through a Ford dealership?

    • @wickedrepairs8527
      @wickedrepairs8527  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like it is definitely a similar issue for your vehicle. Clutch actuator A stuck. You can try to remove the actuators and clean and lube the ports to the transmission shaft. I have another video that shows how to clean and lube them. However, you may want to just replace both actuators as a preventative service. I got them in Amazon for half the money from Ford. There is a possibility of dirty transmission fluid also from clutch fibers, but I find that is rarely the case. Usually is a stuck shift fork on the shift shaft and/or faulty shift actuators

    My sister has a 2015 Ford Focus SE and it's getting a P090C - Clutch "B" Actuator Control Circuit Low. Ford says it needs a TCM for a $4000 bill.

    • @wickedrepairs8527
      @wickedrepairs8527  8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That seems a bit high for a TCM! They are pricey, but not that involved to replace it. It's definitely a possibility, but I would try to clean and lube the actuator ports as it may be a shift fork or shift shaft that is keeping it from shifting. Also much cheaper to try to replace the actuators first. I had my TCM replaced at 16,000 miles and there was a big lawsuit with these cars and these transmission issues.

      Have you had the vehicle since new? There are updates to reflash and try for a remedy. There may be an issue with your gears internally being worn or an issue electronically. So hopefully this can get pinned. Car was still acting up so I went to ford today to talk about my options. The TCM recall repair for some cars has been extended till 2025. This applies to the part and has nothing to do with the mileage of the car. So if you have the check engine code call up your ford and see if your VIN number falls under this extension!!!

    If ur car can’t move but did for 2 days with it bad and it permanently fails does it cause u to get stuck completely

    • @wickedrepairs8527
      @wickedrepairs8527  ปีที่แล้ว

      That could possibly happen, depends if the car is not shifting at all or if it is still shifting somewhat. Typically if 1 actuator fails, it will only shift the good actuator causing the vehicle to shift from 1st, to 3rd, to 5th or 2nd, to 4th, to 6th. If that's the case you can drive it very carefully home or to a repair shop but further damage may occur with the clutch not shifting properly.

    For those that desire the info, the torque spec for those bolts is 5 Nm. Also, technically the service manual calls for just a little nickel anti-seize on the splines and the outside of the surrounding part of the housing (just the smaller part, not necessarily the whole thing), but as long as the grease used is good for the same or similar temps then it should be fine. And if this doesn’t help then you can always try resetting the TCM using FORScan, it’s worked out for my 2016 a few times so far without having to replace anything, although I’m pretty sure I just need my clutch forks cleaned at this point😂

    just got lucky bois... found a 2018 focus at a junkyard with these actuators and put em on my 2012. Someone who doesnt daily drive the car wouldnt notice a difference but i did... slightly smoother...zero shuddering now except on incline starts which is also almost negligible.
    A word for caution though... if you do L8rhps method of rotating and lubing the forks with that spline tool, be careful. That female spline might moves off center while you rotate it with the tool..
    and then the actuator gear and fork female gear wont line up.
    Took me 40 minutes and lots of cussing trying to center it back again. I dont think ill be doing that again unless it really gives bad shuddering again.

      It takes a bit more time, but instead of using the tool, I stick the actuators back in and use the ignition on/off and use the actuators as the tool.

      I dont know if its all cars but mine certainly did after i sprayed lithium grease and turned it alot.
      The actuator just wouldnt go back in no matter what i did and i legit thought my car was broke forever until i finally lined it up and it went in after alot of sweating and cussing.

      Yes, definitely a good idea to clean the ports with brake cleaner then spray WD40 and install the actuators and cycle the key so that the actuators move the shift forks. This will help the lubrication work into the forks and shaft. There is a special tool that you can use, but then you have to reprogram the actuators, because you may not have it aligned right after using the toll back and forth. I find it just as easy to install and use the actuators as the tool.

The car stopped shuttering after that and was smooth as can be until I had the shift for stuck/bad actuator. Then it started doing it again. When I replaced the actuators, I also cleaned the ports and sprayed WD40 into them to lube the shift forks and shift shafts. It was very smooth again at first but since then, has a shutter sometimes. If I come to a 100% complete stop and take off slowly or fast, it doesn't shutter, it's that medium throttle acceleration when it shutters a bit. So, overall, no, but definitely better.

      @juancruzgaraylima3405 you're welcome, it is the TCM technically, however a relearn process may help with that as well. The TCM has an adaptive learning, where it shifts based on how the driver operates the vehicle. So, if you ride it hard them take it real easy, it may shift strange due to how it is use to shifting. It's a bit bizarre, but there is a relearn/reset process that is done with just your key and a process of turn the ignition to on, them shifting to D, them ignition off and then back on and shifting to S mode...somewhere in the comments of either this video, or another one of mine, someone did voice how that process is done.
