I honestly find it charming how the cards are worn and the game log is filled out. Watching that I feel a bit of a connection with the life of the kid who played with this set. That kind of thing is my favorite part of looking at antiques and collectables.
I’m actually working on a “what if it was released in the TCG today” version and having these items translated would be a huge help. I’m even re-illustrating the art in the modern style.
I just got the japanese 25th anniversary kaiba briefcase blue eyes set for the original lay out of the cards since the only other way to get a set of secret rare original art blue eyes with this original attk and def layout was to sell my house, car, and all my organs

Agreed. It makes me cherish the product a lot more than if it were brand new. You can tell that this was once special to someone.
I love how some of these cards show some wear, indicating that they were the ones that were used the most.

It's kind of amusing seeing Flame Swordsman in the same rarity as Blue Eyes, but hey i guess it was a different time in Yu-Gi-Oh!'s history.
Love to all this cards. Thanks to the Yugioh ps1 game Know about this old OCG cards!
The early japanese version of the game is so interesting. Can't wait for the next part of the History of Yugioh series.
20:24 If that was the case, then maybe it was the inspiration for XYZ monsters

I was expecting Bandai cards to be in there but let me tell you it's cool to see these oldest Konami-printed cards
the old design card is soooo much better than noawadays, its crazy, it look like art. Today we dont even see whats in the card image...
a great piece of history.
Were the star chips used for any practical purposes? Like you were able to get into a tournament if you obtained enough like in the anime?
To be honest, you'd probably have been crucified if you opened a new starter box, they're likely insanely rare if any do exist.
Will you do anything with the Bandai cards from 98?
Yeah, eventually. The rules to that game are actually very interesting.
Where did you get this 😮?
this is the official release version right?
Bring putting your cards on a belt clip back!
interesting
