@@BlindiRL Yeah :D Also on the thing about dwarves still being stressed even when happy, one thing ive noticed is dwarves can be incredibly happy despite not having needs met. Im wondering if unmet needs generate unhappy thoughts without showing them
I think that one thing that would work well for increasing accessibility for this game would be a "Tutorial Mode" or a "Tutorial Release" that has scripted events and messages that pop up and holds your hand through every task. Almost every game has a tutorial now and players are used to that, rather than just reading a huge, complex wiki. I'm willing to bet that most people introduced to Dwarf Fortress don't even know that a wiki exists. This could be a separate release, or some kind of option at game start that would ideally hold your hand through basic playing, and maybe do some hand holding for more complicated stuff. It wouldn't have to do everything, just serve as an introduction to get new people semi-competent with the UI, goals, objectives, etc..
I would love a tutorial, As of the last interview (June) Tarn and team were undecided and I did not want to rehash to many of the same questions. Hoping we hear something sooner rather then later.
All the social and community interaction would be awesome to see integrated (like dwarves seeking other dwarves out, to look after their mental health). Could help reduce tantrum spirals, and keep your dwarves alive. I'd love to see this just from a story experience perspective as well, like Blind mentioned: "Imagining dwarves seeking their friends out, to make sure they're doing OK, is adorable". I agree. A fantastic concept. We need this in DF.

I have one of the Steam Link consoles. I use it for Dwarf Fortress regularly and it works quite well. (I use it with wireless keyboard and mouse. I think the app's touch controls would be a nightmare.)
If they get the funds to do it, it would be neat if the intro movie starts out as ASCII and then fades into smooth animated graphics. I am sure there would be lots of people that would be really happy to work on it too. Maybe they could divvy up the scenes to different animators who play DF? Personally, I'd love to see the interpretations of the famous fort tale illustrators (I think there may even be existing versions online somewhere...), since their art style captured DF perfectly. I'm sure it's a fair way down on the 'Big List of Things That Would Be Cool', though :)
