yes, but that is obsolete man. cybernetics did what all sciences have to do and discarded the wrong assumptions, what Adam Curtis shows there that is wrong is the use of open loop controls, which is what the so called "electric circuit" equivalent to the weather was supposed to predict. today cybernetics uses closed loop controls exclusively which is the basis for everything in the modern life, it is how the fundamental electronic circuits of computers work and how your oven works and how your printer works, etc.
Both should be viewed as cultural productions of the nuclear age and the command and control thinking endemic to US militarism--complex: the brain of the global industrial order. But they are two different lines of thought coming from the same place. A good source for this is the historian of science Lily e kay, who's famous for her work on the incipience of molecular biology at Caltech and the Rockefeller foundation in the interwar years, and for her second book on molecular biology's post-war takingup of the information discourse from cybernetics. Kay published a very interesting piece on Pitts and McColloch and the genealogy of artificial intelligence and machine learning before she died shortly after the turn of the century. It's a terrible loss that she didn't get to finish her planned third book where she turned her attention to that question and the new information and communications technology. Legendary critical historian.
But yeah nobody that should be taken seriously says they are doing cybernetics anymore but it's influence cannot be understated and cybernetic thinking has not stopped in the slightest despite the specialization that has made the field redundant.
Cybernetics is concerned with control systems using concepts of fixed points and feedback loops to name a few. AI as it is known now is machine learning which is statistical inferencing from data. There is also symbolic AI which uses deductive systems and logic to compute outcomes. All of them were probably called and known as AI at some point in time.
1991 is going to be an amazing time!
🤣
Im high asffff
Brilliant documentary. Thanks a lot.
cybernetics is not circular, is recursive.
Everything is a cyberetic system. Including your body and it's interactions with the enviroment.
Please watch "All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace"
is it an Adam Curtis documentary?

I want to go back
based.
2024 on track to evolving human race....AI for 2025.
Trying to be Buddha using tech
Cybernetics is an ancient word. Now, we use AI.
nah man u wrong
AI is a subdiscipline of cybernetics.
