Amazing performance from Evann to ride every day close to 100km in different terrain even with E support a exceptional performance. And Cyril for you it must feel like coming home I could feel the silence when Evann was sitting on the Dune. Thx Martin
Thank you Martin, it's true, Evann assured ! For me you're right, it's like coming home, but after 15 years and less the unconsciousness of youth I didn't know if it was going to be okay to leave in one vehicle in the middle of the Sahara. But apparently my lucky star is still with me !
Salutations deuchistes.
Merci Eric pour ton commentaire. Oui, Evann a bien assuré.
Fascinating journey. I notice from your website you have also travelled Mauritania in a 70 series Land Cruiser with camping cell. Would it have been feasible to do the same journey in that vehicle? Or is the weight too great perhaps?
Thanks Joseph ! Indeed we traveled once with a HZJ75 6 cylinders 4.2 liters. The cell weighed 800 kg. But this toyota has a very torquey engine. Weight is certainly an enemy, but the more important thing is experience and determination. If you have both you can go anywhere and more easily than a 2CV. Let's not forget that the 2CV has a 0.6 liter engine and even a 2CV 4x4 climbs the dunes more difficult than a loaded 4x4 which has short gears !
@@aventure2cv I have to disagree, my 2CV-4x4 was vastly superior to a Pajero with 140 diesel hp on a 30m dune, and that was in the Erg Oriental and in the dunes of GranFussa/Algerie. It was a bi-motor duck..
@@froschpeter99 Yes Peter, I totally agree with you. To have also tested a twin-engine 2CV in the Sahara, it's exceptional ! But here I am with a single engine and as soon as the dune rises too much and for a long distance, the little 602 cm3 cannot pull the weight and the force of the 4 driving wheels, in addition with 205 tires. Already, next year I will switch to 175/80/15 tires, the smallest size in 15 for reinforced tires...
did you have new pistons, cylinders and crankshaft bearings and rework cylinder heads on your engine? And if so, did you have a special titanium coating on the pistons or was that too risky for you? the sound of your motor - if I listen closely to the film - is excellent ! that sounds very healthy !
Used Citroën pistons, Used Citroën cylinders but frozen, Used Pistons also Citroën. Any used Citroën is better than new, especially the scraper ring which is too hard steel on remanufacturing and therefore bad for the cylinders. Used crankshaft, if good condition, no worries. Used cylinder head with valve lapping. The engine is the one I had in Niger 20 years ago!
No, not too much air. I have indeed read that it takes 500 g or even 400 g in sand or snow. You will see on episode 3, I show that the tire is well deflated. No, the sebkhra was really soft, in 2cv I drive constantly at 800 gr (with 205/14) and I had to put the 4 driving wheels to pass, over several kilometres.
I saw with sheer amazement that you had a heavy golf club on board, did you throw it away after the film scene? I know you and I know that you drill your toothbrush 5x to save 0.5g. you must have died a weight heroic death when you packed that heavy movie prop. you also save on the feed, like we did at ÖSEWO in the Empty Quarter. Went down with 77kg and came back after 10 months with 57kg.. i lost twenty kg
And yes Peter, a heavy golf club, even 2, a dish for the final hole. It is true that this year I made a few exceptions because I had a 2CV 4x4. But I'm wrong I know! The roof rack alone weighs 10 kg and the bike (because I kept it after my son crossed) 35 kg with 2 batteries. I also had skis!!! We have not lost 20 kg! The crossing by bike did not last more than 20 days, and then as soon as there was an oasis we ate local.
Vous nous régalez ! Merci de nous partager tout ça. 🙏

Very, very nice. Well done.
Bedankt Victor !
