Nice! I think the biggest difference between us was what we thought of Midnight Fight Express. I really liked it. Actually, playing a bit more I've been feeling like maybe I'd place it higher for me. But I guess only a little over an hour isn't much time to really gauge if it will pan out for the entire game. I did expect that I wouldn't be playing it for 100% because the challenges would be way too difficult for me.
I'm probably off on Midnight Fight Express, but I don't know. I just know I struggled with it after that initial excitement on Game Pass, and started to feel the same way this time around. Sure it will have it's fans though, so keep going with it. That's why I love having other reviews to see the different views on the same games.
@@ClumsySandbocks Lol well, I guess the only other thing I can think of would be if this bundle hinges on Midnight Fight Express for you then just check out some reviews dedicated to that game. They'll be able to give you a much better insight on how it is than either myself or Kinglink more than likely.
I'm glad they have their fans, I can feel the passion from them, they just aren't the biggest studio and I'm sure that holds them back a bunch, but they are ambitious for sure.
If you like Elex, or anything Piranha Bytes has put out, I would say absolutely. Or just want that long meaty RPG even if it's not a AAA quality. Probably would get this just for gunk if you had interest in trying out the other titles though.
I became used to that every bundle you like is usually one I dislike, but this month, it's actually wild. 😂 Even in the bundles I consider a "bad month" I usually can find anything of worth. It's always at least one game I can have a few hours of fun with. But this month? Nothing at all. It's probably the worst Choice bundle for me, yet. And I do this shit since the first very humble monthly 😅 Probably I would have a slight interest in Elex 2, since I love rpgs, but I played the first one for about 10 hours and had enough of it. Expeditions: Rome is just not my setting - at all. And the rest... well, at best it's stuff I've seen somewhere else gameplay-wise, but just better... and at worst it's just shovelware. I'm a sucker for good indie-titles, but they really need to do what they intend to do well and bring something new to the table. So, for me, this is just a "buy to keep your choice discount"-bundle. At least it's one of the rare months I don't already have any games. And while November was already a really mixed back, I had definitely higher hopes for the "last bundle of the year".
I was on the fence with this month. The only ones that grabbed me was The Pale Beyond and Nobody saves the world. Though, this video sold me on Last Call BBS. To my surprise, The Pail Beyond has a steam demo version at the time I'm writing this. I gave it a try, and I was hooked into the story. And they say that the game saves carries over to the full-version. I recommend anyone to has some interest to check it out. While I already watched a few hour long streamed gameplay of Nobody saves the world over a year ago, I figured there's nothing else to go by. Can't hurt to do my own run. I saw Last Call BBS screenshots and it didn't grab me, seems like a small pack of half-cared mini-games. But after I heard the rich history behind it, can't hurt to check it out.
It definitely is a small pack of mini games, but they are well designed, and each one is a nice meal on it's own. It would be hard to say any of them is worth the full price, but together it's a lovely sampler of a few ideas Zachtronics had. Good to hear about the Pail Beyond's demo, I should have checked for that.
My biggest problem with Midnight Fight Express is that all the interesting stuff is locked behind the skill tree. They made a really fun and interesting combat system and then went "wait but we need progression" so they locked it all behind a skill tree.
Your probably right, I've heard how great the combat system is, but never really stuck with it long enough to get deep enough, which probably means I missed out on all of that.
Is there a specific game you're having problems visualizing, I chose most of the clips this time to show a variety of elements of the game? With 60 seconds, adding more clips means each clip gets even less time to be shown, and shows even less information and is a bit more jarring. You might want to check a let's play if you want to see more of the game visually.
I'm probably taking a chance on this month. I rarely play TRPG's as MOST of them don't win me over (major exceptions being Advanced Wars and Banner Saga trilogy)...but I've had a TRPG itch to scratch of late. Honestly, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew would be my ideal choice here but since that game is new I can't expect it to be on a service like this any time soon. Expeditions: Rome is a game I've never heard of until now but I've seen several reviews and I love the setting in general...seems like it might just win me over. The only other game here that'll realistically win me over is Nobody Saves the World. I tried it on game pass and abandoned it after a couple runs. I didn't hate my time with it but when you sub on game pass for only one month a game has to win you over quick because its fighting against many others. I'd like to think this one can win me over as a solid 7/10 kind of game if I own it and really play through it. I will shout out 'Boring Dad Gaming' as a small youtuber who did a voiced LP of The Pale Beyond and it was a great time. That games story starts a bit slow, yet interesting, and really grips you over time. I don't have much reason to actually want to play the game now that I've experienced the story...but I'd recommend it to others.
Im like 3 months late so this is probably irrelevant, but I LOVED Boring Dad's voices for The Pale Bryond too! I actually played it myself before watching though, but my own voiceover was very inferior to his lol! Definitely one of my favorite indie gems of all time
You probably are thinking of the Humble Game Collection or what ever they called it. A Bunch of Humble Published games that are available to humble subscribers. Similar to The Trove, but Humble Game Collection had DRM so you don't get to keep them forever.
Thanks as always for your work mate. Is an oddball for me, so will skip. On the good news Humble is realising for very limited time somw of their more popular bundles, and they started with the Metroidvania one. I might pick up that one or more. Cheers
I usually talk about them in my year in review, but I probably won't make one this year. Will cover best of the year next month, but Invisible Hand is the worst.... I try not to dwell on the negatives but that one sticks in my mind.
Crazy nothing of interest for me again. So glad I didn't take them up on the 2 for $6 offer for last and this month. At least it's an easy decision to pause again.
Sadly it's more of the same problem for me I have a lot of games already and that means I'm less likely to want some of these games (the 10 year old me is losing their mind at that idea but back them I had 1 maybe 2 games and a few demo discs that ied string together to make new plots) it's a first world problem if ever I heard one but sadly it's true when your game library gets to a certain size you get more picky with what you may want to buy and it's made harder if your looking at gas and electric bills and going bloody hell that's a lot of money .... what do you mean it's going to go up by 100 quid in December? (That's not a joke that's what we got told in the UK and we're already looking at the better part of 200 quid before the increase 😱) Long story short (too late!) None of the games really strike my fancy this month so maybe next month. Oh I did end up getting last month mainly for the SCP game sadly it's ran out of keys 😭 so I'm just hoping humble can get more.
Lol so what I'm hearing is 85% of these games are on Gamepass... I think I'm canceling Humble Choice next year and just putting the money into Gamepass lol. (I mean, I'm still getting GP free but that changes in 2025 :()
Found this from your steam review of Midnight Express, and I'll be back every month you make one. Thanks!
Merry Christmas Kinglink❤
You know I forgot about it when making this video. Living in the moment or something. Merry Christmas to you too, and to everyone.
@@Kinglink it's all good, thanks for sharing these videos with us.
5 wishlist, the rest good enough, I see this month as an absolute win!
If only more months were like that Humble...
Can't wait for the best of 2023 video!
Thanks for the review! I'm always looking forward to it

Hey! Was sold on the bundle for NSTW and Exp: Rome, but think I will redeem Midnight Fight Express and try it out. A good soundtrack goes a long way.
@@ClumsySandbocks NIce! Hope you enjoy it! If not then at least you have the other two.
Been waiting for this video! Great!
I'm so glad I didn't pick up Elex 2 on sale. I love the jank from those guys.
I'm glad they have their fans, I can feel the passion from them, they just aren't the biggest studio and I'm sure that holds them back a bunch, but they are ambitious for sure.
I got used to the guy, but I still feel like the girl looks like barbie doll in a trench coat.
Great video, would you recomend this bundle for the Gunk and Elex 2?
Im not sure if i should pick it up for those alone

I traded for Last Call BBS because of course, Zachtronics. Nice to know they have a new company.

Kinglink please include multiple different clips of footage rather than one long shot. Sometimes it's hard to gage a game by 1-2 shots only. thx :P

I thought they retired humble Choice last month ? That’s what I was lead to believe
Nope, It's still going though the "choice" part of the name makes very little sense.
@@Kinglink so what did they mean by they was going to retire the choice series.. i'm confused by that email they sent out

0:10 Trying to hear you over game dialog that should be muted is a terrible first impression for your channel.
There's a -20db difference between my audio and the game dialog. But I'll look into it. Sorry if it is hard to understand.
