If crocs have been around for 200 million years & can go without food for months & even years, then they've gotta be declared the number one Top Survivor on planet Earth.......

Many jellyfish, insects, crustaceans and fish would put that 200m years to shame tbh. Horseshoe crabs for example have been around a loooooong time.
As large animals go however, yeah they are up there.

Its more complicated that that, modern crocs only came into existence in the very end of the Cretaceous. Its just that the body plan of "underwater ambush predator" convergently evolved in a related group several times.

@@krislochlan5366 It's the same with crabs, certain animal "designs" are just inherently well suited to survive, and thus evolution tends to converge that way, even independently and over again.

Shouldn't this have been more properly titled as " Mostly Hippos" , or a Few Crocks and their Family Members? What is the FULL SPECIAL entitling PBS in regard to...the Komoto Dragons depicted in the first one-fourth of the video?? Always seen helping wounded animals to cross rivers and taking other for a fun carnival ride with their silly lips, spinning round and round. What fun!
