X-Men Mutant Academy & its sequel are pretty good fighting games. They take aesthetic cues from both the 90's cartoon & the first film, while being easy to play.
after a horrid day at work it was nice to come home and find that one of my favorite youtubers has uploaded another review, thanks jadow you made my horrible day have a nice ending :)
Very surprised that you dislike the Legends and Ultimate Alliance games. Considering the vast amount of Easter eggs, playable characters and missions you go on in each game, I would have thought it would tickle your fancy. I get that they are button mashers at times but it was cool crafting four member teams where each character could utilize their own strengths (flight, super strength, team buffs, long range attacks, or if you’re Moon Knight, Insta-kill da boss). I’m not upset though and if you didn’t care for them personally or found them too boring, I understand that.
I remember really liking the story of Legends 2, but I remember never ever having to change out members of my party past the first level (nor did I ever want to) and I remember the combat feeling repetitive. The easter eggs and huge cast are a lot of fun (especially now that I know who Deadpool and Iron Man are), but I just couldn't get into the core gameplay
Darklordjadow1 If I had to recommend a Marvel licensed game, I think you could do some real justice to Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects. It’s a really sloppy 1-1 fighting game with a patchwork story mode to tie it all together.
I feel like I’m the only person here who liked Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. It’s no masterpiece, but I enjoyed the gameplay well enough and loved the wide variety of playable characters. Although I will admit that I really don't like the story, especially in comparison to the other games in the series. To me it felt like nothing more than an excuse plot to give a reason for the characters to team up.
Wide variety of playable characters that you can't use because characters not in your party don't level up with you, yeah you could use XP cubes but it's not ideal.
@@matthewbraith0411 Yeah, I'll admit that the leveling in the game is too slow even with XP cubes, which can make it a problem that characters don't level up outside your party. If it was faster then I wouldn't have minded it as much. I think the game being a Switch exclusive kind of helped with the experience, though, as it's a kind of game I would like playing in short bursts on the go. Otherwise I can see why people would get tired of putting 100s of hours into it due to the sheer amount of grinding that's required to level up all the characters.
Definitely has issues but I've put a ludicrous amount of time in it and enjoyed it the entire time. I can 100% understand why people wouldn't like it though.
Wait, Sabretooth is the final boss? Only Wolverine, Iceman and Nightcrawler are playable characters? What a disappointment. The Legends games offered more variety. This feel limited. Like at least add Storm and Colossus to the roster.
X-Men Legends is beloved due to that it’s kinda what kicked off Ultimate Alliance. Oh and because the RPG style gameplay and the epic story modes are what make the games worth playing. Seriously I’m still playing Legends 2 and the story is dope. Also, I do recommend UA3 bud. Yeah, it’s a repetitive button masher. But it’s a true marvel universe game at heart and the story, as well as the immense marvel lore it has, is why I have a deep love for it.

X-Men Legends wasn't a shallow button masher at all. It was a story focused team based ARPG. It's fine that you don't like it but don't lie about it to make a false point.
Legends 2 had a really good story and gorgeous cutscenes, but I remember two things about the gameplay: swapping out a dead Cyclops for Sunfire in the first stage and then never ever changing out team members the entire rest of the campaign; and I remember the combat (which is about 95% of the very long game) being so, so repetitive. I also remember not knowing who Deadpool was at the time.

Ive always liked X-men Mutant academy 2, it was developed by the same guys who did Dimension. So yeah same thing but with cartoon era costumes and Spidey and professor x as hidden characters.
I keep trying to play Next Dimension and every time I get my ass handed to me because the controls are so stiff and I don't have the combos memorized; plus the game runs on Street Fighter rules where your block can't be broken except for the grab that barely does anything and leaves you wide open. The only way I beat Arcade mode back in the day was playing as Rogue because her Level 1 Super steals enemy health.
@@Darklordjadow1 Thats pretty much my memory of Dimension too, a friend of mine had it. XMMA has alot of the same parts but it does flow alot better, pulling off attacks and chaining to combos are easy and cyclops itsn't a bitch and is one of the most dynamic fighters ,this could be rose tinted glasses though. But I guess it all comes down to what you prefer, too bad that the options are either capcom esq controls or dare i say it... Marvel rise of the inhumans!

I was wondering if your going to review this game...
"Mild Super strength"
i had this game on the throwback xbox and i was so mad because it kept freezin on iceman first mission so i never finished it, but the legends series is top tier Marvel.
Wasn't Lady Deathstrike under mind control in the second movie? Didn't the person forcing that mind control on her die in the second movie?
She was and he did. That's never addressed in the game apart from a brief chat with Silver Samurai and Wolverine just hates her anyway.
@@Darklordjadow1 Alright, I knew she was a villain from the 90s cartoon(And I assume the comics, with the name Lady Deathstrike), but I was never sure she was supposed to be in the second movie, since she was mind controlled the entire time.
Um the guys name is striker
Want good wolverine combat play x men origins wolverine
Specifically the Uncaged Edition. The PS2 and Wii versions are kinda shit from what I've heard.
Supposedly Patrick Stewart voiced the poop emoji for shits & giggles because he knew the movie was garbage anyways.
At least he's doing nicely with Uber Eats ads with Mark Hamill.
0:27, I liked the Deadpool game.
worth the laugh 15:40
Brain dead 13 please
You dare to slander the Legends series? UNSUBSCIBED!
(Not really, agree to disagree)
People seem to be really mad that I didn't like the Legends game that I played... oh well.
X men Legends and Ultimate Alliance games are the best.
I hate MUA3 but I don't really hate the first two.
I felt the same way.
I think one of the best x man games is origins wolverine.
I would really like for you to play Origins Wolverine. Much better than the film.
HOWEVER, DO NOT PLAY THE WII/PS2 VERSION. PLAY THE 360/PS3/PC VERSION.
Well there's the rub: I don't own any console that'll run the good version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Darklordjadow1 Not even the PC version?
You mean much better than the movie.
@@Darklordjadow1 You don’t have an Xbox 360, PS3, or PS4 (it’s backwards compatible for PS3 games)? That is pitiful!
@@thedestroyer2alltrolls411 I did get a 360 long after doing this episode.
And no, the PS4 does not play PS3 games.
Please do a Jedi fallen order review.
great vid.
I think the greatest X-Men game is the arcade game.😁
This game is trash
No, it’s not. It’s way better than those other games he mentioned. Those other games like Legends and Ultimate are overrated trash. This game is good and fun!
