Wow the response to this has been insane, I didn't expect this to get much attention. Thanks so much for the support everyone, I can't explain how much it means to me! I tried to reply to all the comments in the beginning but it's gotten way too much, so I just wanted to leave a thank you here to everyone who comments on this.
I already commented once, but this *needs* more comments. I am so so so so in love with this whole thing already. “Forgotten ruins” as a concept just has such a special and primally significant place in my heart and brain.

I am interested in seeing philosophical discussions about what an endless and unknowable ruin mean for the human condition. What is the meaning of life within these halls? What do the wanderers think when they roam? Why do they wander? Are they looking for something? Super excited to see what you have to offer!
Thank you! These are the ideas that interest me as well, and I’d like to explore them through their different approaches to life.

I suppose when the meaning to life is as unknowable as the end to this labyrinth you call home, one can only hope the answer to both lies there
The meaning of life does not change in the endless labyrinth because life is the endless labyrinth already. However there are 3 layers to the labyrinth of life, physical, mental and spiritual. What layer or layers you explore may very but you never leave nor should you want to. Not all who wander are lost, embracing adventure is a well of life. Safety is the enemy and pleasure for pleasures sake is a trap, a dead end. To avoid dead ends one must walk in the light, because without the light every path is eventually a dead end.
This has just enough smatterings of LoZ and Ghibli and SotC to invoke some deep nostalgia. But also just enough originality to awaken an intense curiosity. A hunger for more. Can't wait to see where you go with this!

This world gives me the same feeling I had when I watched the show “Made in Abyss”. The feeling of exploring unknown territory and not knowing what you’ll find next with all the beautiful and terrifying moments that come with that. If you haven’t already I would highly recommend you to give “Made in Abyss” a try!
made in abyss defenitely has an amazing world with stunning art for the enviroments and characters but please make sure that you know what youre getting into..
that series has everything from nightmare fuel body horror to existential dread and I wouldnt even know where to start with the fate worse than death things

I've said it before, and I will say it again.
It is *so* nice to see so many artists trying to make their vision a reality. In the past, there was so much reliance on studios and other big companies to make passion projects like this happen. I'm glad to see so many people taking the leap to make their dream stories as they originally envisioned them -- and without any corporate meddling.
my favorite comic is "blame!". this is like that, except horizontal instead of spherical and high fantasy instead of abstract scifi.
I thought the same. Ilove how blame uses its iconic art style to set the loneliness mood, and how this project ( seemingly) can bring the same feelings while still looking intimate and beautiful.

If you haven't read Piranesi, you should definitely give it a read. It's basically the extreme of "lonely wandering in mysterious ruins" type theme, but also a very poignant story.
I FREAKING LOVE THIS!!!!!! I looove old ruins and this is incredible! You're SUUUCH a skilled artist!!! I love all the designs and color pallets! If you want some inspiriation, try reading the fantastic book Piranesi--the whole thing takes place in a world where the entire world is one giant empty museum! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR CONCEPT!!!!!!!!

These “solitude” like games/concepts always make me feel somber and “lost”. It’s a mystical feeling, yet also a sad one.
I dare say this reminds me especially of “Castle in the Sky” a 1986 Studio Ghibli film.

I like the idea of a mostly non-violent world that brings up a lot of person vs environment and person vs self conflicts. Already conveying the atmosphere of shadow of the colossus and all the games you mentioned.
I love the idea of making the world feel super empty and mysterious. My first instinct would be to create a world with no other NPCs and just ruins for a while to build up this sense of desperation. Maybe to instill the feeling that the world itself is alive like how people develop a connection to the companion cube. Of course you're gonna have your own vision for how you want the narrative to feel, but if it was me and my goal was a feeling of isolation, I would make some very clear metaphorical roadblocks in the world that prevents characters from meeting each other because I'd always have this looming feeling that eventually everyone is gonna meet each other. I think a way to provide more of that feeling is to make the spirits and demons and all that feel indifferent towards the characters. It's not that our existance is so meaningful to them that they want to do something evil to us, it's like they see us as ants and don't care about us one way or another, just just have their own natural proclivities on how they live and it impacts the character's lives but it comes from an amoral place. I think blending the intention of the spirits with the"intention" of the world itself is a lot more captivating than making them be beings of suffering or evil or anything like that. I like the idea that this world is so big it trivializes our human feelings of suffering and morality and all that.
Also I'm sure this goes without saying but sound is half the battle, the background music you used in your last video was really good I feel, but personally if it was me, I would partner up with some musician online or something to create a custom soundtrack for it. Something with like 2 or 3 recurring melodies that can be placed in any scenario and put through any instrument. I feel like that would open up a whole new world of telling the story without words.
I don't want to come across as someone telling you how to do your job, truly, I just can't help but ramble because I'm also an artist and I'm giddy with excitement to see what this becomes. It's rare for someone on TH-cam who's strength is creating aesthetic to dive so deep into narrative. The best I've seen anyone do so far is speed painters who paint different characters in the same world without any commentary.

Dude, your art style is EXQUISITE. This screams roguelite or dungeon crawler to me, but a beautiful, unending, treasure-filled adventure would be just as amazing in this world.
Your character design is genuinely flawless. Did you incorporate some Aztec/Mayan influence as well or is that just by happenstance?

On the topic, I really dig the ambience and atmosphere. Unsettling, yet peaceful. Weird, and lonely. Beautiful and secretive. I adore the style of the statues and this idea of ruins as a place of transformation. And specially when some more modern settings are in vogue (like liminal spaces/backrooms). I love going back to a place forgotten, and find meaning in a place once lively or inhabited. Giving new meaning to a place that has lost its own.
There’s this fantasy world called tumiun. It’s made by this channel called Rick’s Creations. It’s inspired by Lord of the Rings
