Ten years ago I started building a fantasy world called Tumiun. I've since explored this world through art, writing, Dungeons & Dragons and now in the form of a series of short films called Tales of Tumiun, right here on my TH-cam channel. This video tells you about how building this world has changed my life.

I'm also a worldbuilder, and I've wrote 2 full length books based on the canon of my DnD campaigns. Currently I'm developing 2 TTRPG systems to accompany them as well. 1 that can be played casually by literally anyone with an imagination, and 1 complex system for people who enjoy the likes of DnD.
My suggestion is, "Have you considered generating simple AI images to outline or serve as placeholders for some of the short stories you wish to share?" It could cut back on a lot of time, while giving enough for storytelling.
I often find myself using AI to give my players a quick and easy visual format of a character, or well described setting when I need it on the fly. It helps me a lot considering that I hardly draw anymore because my main passion is revolution/philosophy, to which I then build in my fantasy world.
      Cheers, brother

@@savetheworldtribe Great stuff! And yes, I have considered it but I probably won't be using AI, since it has basically cost me my job. I've gone from getting around ten commissions a month for years, down to maybe one or two a month, in just the past year. I'm struggling to decide whether I should go with the flow and get with the times by using the tech that has cost me my job to create other things easier, or rebel and stay close to my heart. I'm leaning towards the latter for now though! Thanks for the suggestions though, and good luck with your projects!

@@RicksCreations I'm not part of the conversation, but if I can throw my point of view in the subject ! As someone who's work have been also higly impacted (communication and marketing) I had the same opinion. But I changed my mind about it. It's not AI that stoled our work, but people who understand how to use AI in it's best way. You can find dozen of lightly skilled AI user, but it's like drawing, or writting, it's not because you know how to add a smiley on a white background with a comic sans ms font saying NEW OPENING that you created something. it take times, skill, learning. So now I use AI everyday in my job, I gained a lot from it, mostly preparation, idea building, etc... AI is just a tool, like painter felt about photoshop 20 years ago, or like news reporter felt about blog, or tv etc...
You still need someone to operate the AI, to be trained on how to get the best of it. And if you're like me, AI is not the end result of what you are giving to someone, just a step of the journey !

My son is only 8, and videogames are starting to take over his interests, but ever since age 5 he has loved to draw and create stories. Maps were his favourite thing to draw, starting early in his drawings. He used to talk about wanting to be an author all the time, and he is so imaginative. I'm going to share this video with him. I hope he keeps up his own world building, it is such a creative gift.
Thank you for sharing this part of yourself with us 🙂 cheers/skål 🥂

Like what this person said ^
I know that you want to be a loving mother who just wants their kid to be happy (and please don’t take this as forcing opinion or telling you how to raise your kid) but I wish my parents had pushed me and encouraged me into hobbies.
I had so many hobbies as a kid, at one time or another, but I never received encouragement in them. I never got “forced” to continue one until it “stuck”.
Video games can be fun in MODERATION - like an hour a day. But they really do take over your life. They become your “comfort” and “safe place” - all while the rest of your life erodes around you.
I know you’ll be a great mother, but please take head from a couple of guys who experienced the negatives first hand.

      @vjeranjanes5783 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Sure, put a limit to his video games, but I can say from experience that video games improved my creativity. I was a kid who LOVED video games and I wouldn't say I was addicted, but I definitely spent a lot of time playing them. But, by playing them I encountered a lot of new stories, thought up my own in those worlds, and my creativity just kept building up. Yes, video games can consume you and make you unproductive, but they can also be a great source for imagination.

All that is to say, your videos continue to inspire me as I hope to inspire others one day so thank you again! This video was well worth the wait!

You’re growing really fast now and you’re gonna see a lot more people from this point forward. That can add a lot of pressure on you to conform to the collective will of your audience, or even some imaginary idea of what that collective will is, but don’t let it effect you. People came here and subscribed because they love what you currently do. Keep doing that and you will keep growing. Don’t change something to conform but rather because you feel inspired to change.
Also, take advantage of this boost in viewership. You’re in the forefront of people’s minds and that doesn’t last forever. Ride this wave while you can but don’t worry about how far it takes you because there will be other waves. You’re talented.

Brother and I started creating our world filled with monsters and stuff...writing stories about each one...but there was no YT or easy access to information over internet in the 90's so life took me into other direction but it still left a deep imprint on my subconscious mind. It shows you that your limits are only set by the borders you set up in your mind and time you are willing to invest into something.... value we give to something is completely subjective....no matter on economics.

But now, I don’t care. I’ll keep doing art, maybe one day I’ll come up with game or comic about my world. Art brings me joy and peace, and there’s no way somebody can take it away from me. Thank you again for inspiration.

Man, my worldbuilding passion is also inspired by J.R.R.Tolkien himself (and Norse mythology, Beowulf, etc) and I draw sketches to visualize my world too. What Tolkien had done-his work, drawings and maps-was just pure love for his world and that made me want to create my own. I did poems and stories-the gods, the mythology, the history, the sagas or the rise and downfall of it. But sometimes I got tangled in my writing, revised again and again until I gave up on it but I still somehow got back to it recently. Seeing you did all of this seems to ignite that fire of passion again in me. I see a lot of resemblance of Tolkien in you and I think that one day you will tell the tales of Tumiun to your child just as J.R.R.Tolkien to his son Christopher Tolkien. I wish to see more of your world and hope you continue forever.
(I would like to know the mythological begining of your world. Here’s mine:
This was the very Beginning of all.
It was all darkness at first. Before everything and anything, the world resided in nothingness, an endless abyss which of old they called Arregapsus “The Empty Well”, there was no shape here, no feeling, no cold or heat, not any form of living beings as barely if anything felt like nothing.
And then there were these light wanderers called Essidirs “Earliest of the Essence”, they were born in this abyss like a flickering of light when the edge of darkness crashed into each other and created them. Yet that moment created the contrast of everything: of darkness and light, of cold and heat, of old and new, of before and after.
Then both mindlessly and unconsciously, after the Essidirs had wandered around for almost eternity as time was not conceived so we could not tell for how long of an eternity they had wandered, they consumed their own essence and created the gods for they knew their existence was meant for something not empty like their place-it was their chosen fate to create more and more of everything-not just the static contrast but also the circle of movement of creations. Essidirs gave birth to the gods and the gods were their everything”).

This was an incredibly moving video. What a beautiful thing - to harness that childhood wonder into a lifelong affair. As children, we are amazed and transformed by much magic. Adulthood sears that joy, and replaces it with weariness and conformity. But every now and then, we find stories like this video that remind us of how beautiful life can be, if we only embrace our wonder.

Absolutely amazing! It is so comforting to hear how worldbuilding has helped other people. The attention to detail, quality, and passion put into in all of your videos is insane. The arm wraps of the PC and the Cartographer being the same is particularly impressive, and his reminiscing of his first adventures in Arkiun, I'd say that player grinned when he saw that. Bravo!

I myself am worldbuilding along with writing. A couple of years ago I really got into science fiction. Having a vibrant imagination, I started making up my own little worlds (even drew a few maps).
But it never went anywhere. Not because my ideas weren't great (there's no such thing) but because I just didn't have enough experience or reference material.
After two years, 50+ books and stories, dozens if not more videos and essays, an entire notebook's worth of notes (I once made 100+ characters for a story, each with their own life story and role) as well as a full brain of ideas I can safely say that I've only scratched the surface of my artistic potential.
Keep in mind, I can't draw to save my life, so you'll literally have to take my word for it 😂.
I've written a number of short stories over the past couple of months. But the real challenge begins in 2024.
My goal is to write 6 novellas (one every two months). I'll post them online for free.
After that? Who knows. Maybe 12 novellas. Maybe a full novel. Maybe multiple novels. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
I hope more people start to notice their artistic potential. If only it were easier for like-minded individuals to gather and create.
My biggest piece of advice? Carry a pencil and a notebook where ever you go. Ideas and inspiration can come from anywhere. Don't let it disappear.

This is more than a hobby - the world becomes so alive and dear that you can no longer imagine how it is possible to forget about it, give up on it or stop thinking about it. I think its just amazing how the Inspiration of one person on another, can inspire dozens if not hundred people. I am a Game Design student who just loved videogames and their story but also fantasy books and games. My first step into worldbuilding was coming up with a backstory for a crashed space ship I had to modell, but I was in no way a story teller or creator. So i looked for worldbuilding on youtube to get a grip maybe some tips on how to build a gripping and intresting story, and while searching I found your video and also the Monstergarden but you touched my heart with this video, just the way you present your work and how you talk about your world it is so vivid and well written that, that the pictures your storys paint just leave me in awe. What started of as a boring backstory for a poorly modelled space ship, has turned into a whole universe thanks to the Inspiration your video gave me. I found a new passion thanks to you.
Thank you so much for sharing your work and inspiring People like me and most importantly thank you for YOUR Story.
