Once I was in a bathroom in my old middle school, when there was a lockdown. I shut off the lights and hid in a ball in the corner, but I nearly screamed when I heard gun shots. Only one person was hurt, and about a week later a bomb that didn't go off was found with the guy's finger prints on it.

I remember I had a lockdown in seventh grade one time, and all our teacher did was dim the lights and carry on with the lesson, not taking it seriously at all.
He was fired later.

When I was in fourth grade, we had a lock down. My school cares a lot about the youngest kids, which is why when we have a lockdown the principal says, “this is a lock down drill” or something like that, so little kids don’t get scared.
When the lockdown happened, we were told it was a drill. When I got home from school that day, my mom asked what happened. I told her we had a lockdown drill. She told me someone actually went inside the building.
If you are not a student or don’t work in the school, you need to check in at the main office, so they know you are not a threat to the kids’ safety, and know that you are a visitor. My school has three entrances, a visitor has to go through the main entrance, which doesn’t really exist anymore, since students and staff go in through all three entrances. The man had gone through one of the three entrances, and it was one that didn’t lead to the main office, so when the cameras caught him, the school thought he was a threat.

I'm still traumatized from the time my elementary school had a multiple hour long lockdown. There was this one girl in my class who really needed to use the restroom and she couldn't hold it for multiple hours. All I need to tell you are two words. Curtain and bucket.

I had a lockdown last year in 12th grade the Principal said “This is not a drill.” My teacher Miss Pineda said “GET DOWN UNDER YOUR DESKS ALL OF YOU.” I started tearing up and started crying they had to hire people to protect the school we all went to lunch and ate and the school day ended and I was terrified my sister,Willa screamed when she saw a light turn on.

The most horrifying thing for me is that all these stories took place a couple years back, because most kids today wouldn’t take these seriously, real or drill. My generation hasn’t experienced true fear, it’s why very few of us can take things seriously.
That's not a generation thing, it's an age thing. Notice how these kids thought it'd be a great idea to go wander the halls and look for the intruder.

I have a story to share.
So this was a very recent thing that happened and I’m still thinking about it today.
One day, we were in my teacher’s classroom. We were doing our work, and we heard an announcement about a lockdown. My teacher said “Everyone get to the corner” in a questioned voice.
Everyone went to different corners, I went to the one next to the main window. I didn’t know what I was thinking. Everyone started talking thinking it was a drill. My teacher shut off the lights and stayed quiet. He was looking on his phone to see if anybody announced if it was a drill. Soon later he realized it wasn’t a drill. He said “Everyone, be quiet. “ in a sort of worried voice. We stayed quiet and noticed he was serious. A few minutes later after staying quiet, we expected for the announcement to say it was over and our teacher to say it was a drill, but it didn’t. We heard a quiet bang in the hallway. We got terrified and someone started crying. Me and my friends looked at each other scared. We tried to shush the person crying and they did. A few minutes passed and we heard a cart in the hallway rolling. I got down to the ground and stayed quiet. We were quiet for a few minutes scared and then heard a police siren. Our hearts beated fast and some people were praying. After a few minutes, the announcement came on saying it was over. We all got up breathing heavily and our teacher turned the lights on. We were happy we were alive. Luckily the intruder didn’t kill anyone. I still remember the horror everyone was going through during the lockdown.

well one time when I was in 3rd grade, I went to my hass classroom for hass period, then we were told the school in on lockdown. I grabbed my laptop and went under my desk probably playing geometry dash or wordle when I heard a LOUD bang, I thought it was thunder but It was sunny outside. The girls in my class were crying while my friend was trying to sooth his crying girlfriend down a bit. I kept hearing screams and bangs. After what felt like 5 hours that was 3 hours our principal said lockdown was over and to only let the kids grab there lunch boxers then lock the doors and let no kids out. I learnt a year later that the bangs were gunshots and a mental person got ahold of a gun and tried shooting some people.

Yesterday we had a lockdown at our school-but I noticed it wasn’t a drill, so I was freaking out because the principal didn’t tell us anything. It turned out that there was a car chase happening near the school and the guy stole a U-haul and then the cops tasered him. Apparently it was my moms friends friends that did it. And also yesterday close to my house there was a guy who drove through his house to set it on fire, and he escaped on foot and the cops haven’t found him yet.

Once, my school went into lockdown, and we all had to squeeze into one small room. There was this guy dressed in black clothes with a hood, and he had a gun and a huge knife. The guy banged on the door a few times and we heard him wrecking when we thought it was safe, the teacher opened the door and went out. We heard a door bang open suddenly and the teacher gasp and scream. Then all at once every student rushed out of the room. We hid in lockers, under the teachers desk, where ever we could. Some of us tackled the guy with a gun. He tried to fight us off, and he managed to cut my finger with his knife, but that’s all. The teachers called the police and when they came, the main had ran outside through the back door and into the forest. The police never caught him, but they found his knife. He was still armed with the gun, however, and he was never caught. But after all that we continued our day as usual but parents ca,e to get some of their kids. It was only when her parents came that I realised I hadn’t seen my friend since she tackled the man. I heard her scream but I assumed she was alright because she stopped very quickly. I never saw her since, and the police found her glasses and a bit of her shirt that was torn away. It was very near the knife. I never saw my friend again, except for the times I relived her screams in my dreams...
This is a true story. Trust me. Please. I really miss my friend Kiera.

I’ve been in one lockdown, and as I read already l of these comments I noticed how common it really is. It is pretty sad. But my lockdown was a false alarm. My school had been notified about a shooter outside of the school somewhere down the street. ( the person had reportedly had been in a fight with someone and looked suspicious, they wound up not being dangerous though.) But I will always remember walking to my 7th hour and as I came close to entering the most crowded hallway I heard the announcement chime turn on, it was very rare to have an announcement during passing time, they tended to wait till a class began that way it was easier to hear. But I was walking with a few kids from my 6th hour class, and I remember one of them looking at me with fear in his eyes and said, “what did they just say?” I told him I did not know because of how loud the hall was, I said it most likely was an announcement about needing a student to go down to the office. But as I turned the corner into the hall that contained lots of classrooms ( including the gym/locker rooms) I saw a group of kids flooding out of the stairwell into the gym. I thought it was just friends racing to see who would be the first to class. But then I heard my health teacher yelling at the group of kids I was with to get in her room, that’s when I realized the gravity of this situation. When I entered the class the teacher shut the door behind me and told us all it was a lockdown, not a drill. It lasted about 5 minutes and we were all told it was a false alarm, I will always have the vision of kids in the hall walking like zombies, it was silent after that, I think we were all in a state of shock. But I thanked god for it being a false alarm. Because I don’t know what would of happen to me, my friends, family, and peers if it was a real life or death situation.

Not really for me my locker room walls are thick and made of concrete an we can hide in the lockers
I think the worst places for an lockdown (If there was an shooter) are the Gym (Unless you’re in the locker room) Cafeteria, Library, and Auditorium since those places hold a lot of students and faculty members, and are usually target areas for those people.
M & S Gaming My School’s gym is connected to 2 locker rooms, one for boys and one for girls. Both also have a small restroom which has space behind it to hide, and the boy’s lockers has like workout equipment so I’d feel pretty safe

I remember my first lockdown, by far the worst... I was maybe 6-7th grade when it happened. Someone came onto our campus with a weapon and I was in a class a few other people and my PE teacher. (We missed a day of a state test because we were sick and had to make it up) When we went on lockdown me and the other students in the room hid in the corner of the room behind the teachers desk. The lock on the door was broken due to people roughhousing in the hallway, breaking the door handle and lock. My PE teacher stood near the door Incase if whoever was on campus tried to come in or passed the door. About 15 minutes later, apparently my teacher heard the guy pass by the door and ran out and tackled the dude. My teacher was tall, maybe 6’4 or 6’5. When the police finally arrived they took the guy out from under my teacher. After the police search the rest of the school they finally let us out if lockdown.
Since that day, and because school shootings have been happening more often, we now have an amazing school officer keeping us safe. One of the best people I know, and my PE teacher still works on my campus.
