I could be his mother, no one writes like Conor. I hope he’s well. He started so young, it’s not until your 40’s that you need an anchor. You are in my thoughts Conor, good intentions. You are one of the great ones .
I started listening to him around 2000- 2001, my gf made me a mix tape and I was blown away and first cd I got fevers and mirrors it had came out around that time. From the moment I heard him and his lyrics ,him/ bright eyes became my favorite band ever,I love everything he does, his lyrics are, songs are the soundtrack to my life. Checkout an old song by talons- my life as a broke ass conor oberst. If not already listened to it.
I didn't dislike the video but I think there's some things about this artist that take some getting used to so if you're someone that doesn't tend to give different music a chance then you may dislike this.
He has to be one the greatest song writers in history. Bowl of Oranges....is so stacked, 3D and complete in thought. That I haven't looked at a pencil and paper the same way since. It's faith restoring that he is so humble. he didn't seem fake about it at all. What a nice guy
He's totally amazing I love Connor Oberst, I miss Bright Eyes they should be working on a new album as a band it's time and I need to see them live, their music is very meaningful to me, by the way I wasn't much of a fan on timing on the lyrics of "We are Nowhere" but still one of my favorite songs.
Real (real) life meets real talent. Omg, I can't wait to see y'all live here. For my son, and for all my (surviving) sons. And me. Keep on! SO much. We need your prolific messages. :-) I especially love your last song, "Common Knowledge" and seeing you play your same old 'experienced' guitar. I'm gushing...sorry. But hey. You said you don't have hits? Beg to differ. And fk the top 40. You're so heard. :-) You have nuance down to a science.
Love playing We Are Nowhere and Its Now on my guitar and singing to myself lol sometimes I'll sing some of the lyrics differently to fit my personal story
Why is he dressed like Bam Margera? That's all I can think of right now! Lol. Awesome nonetheless! Seem him 3 times now. Desaparecidos 2 times and once in 05! Still love him even though he has completely changed his genre. That's when you know your brand or name has made it. Think of how apple or Samsung or anyone can change and it will always have people who will love it no matter because its familiar or trust or whatver. But always good to see!
So this "can't write a hit" measuring stick is just ridiculous....every track this Man lays down stands on it's own....it is truly insane....Ed Sheeran would kill for a Gramme of what Conor has.......
Gosh... Yeah, Conor was not important there, there was a guy from Afghan Whigs, and just because of him it was not bad... You aren't true Conor's fan. P. S. It's Afghan Whigs. :-)
the single he released on 7" called "standing on the outside looking in" is closest to bright eyes in a while with mike mogis and nate walcott playing on the record. It's really good I recommend it.
You probably know, but Bright Eyes returned with an album “Down In The Weeds” in 2020. They’ve been touring ever since. I saw them (Bright Eyes) in April of 2022 and they sounded amazing
haha no but really its 'just' Nate Walcott. like the same Nate Walcott its been for more than a decade lol. It reminds me like how Civil Wars' John Paul White looks just like Johnny Depp
conor, if you read this comment, i love you, and i hope you are wondering where someone as thoughtfully pensive is in the world as you, because i'm that dude. let's hang out and discuss the universe together and write a song. damnit. oh yeah, you won't contact me, because you're not reading this comment, and you could give a damn about me. well, i tried at least. much like what you said at the end of Noise Floor, i "took a chance."
we are nowhere and it's now. that is the message i am taking away from this, conor. please get some vitamin d and b12 into yourself. it will help, love. xox
Trina turner you know that song is 10 years old, right? his writing at present seems to suggest he's in a much healthier place than he was at that time.
Flinch Fu He writes from his perspective. Subjectively, not objectively. The world he writes about hasn't changed. His perspective of it has. If his lyrics are any indication of his perspective (as they should be), then his perspective has become less cynical and despairing i.e. healthier. I meant a healthier headspace.
Matt Landon I agree. I think he's healthier mentally and physically. He looks good. I think he stopped doing blow and drinking so much. You can hear it in the music. It's happier, it's less angry. I saw him last month here in Boston and he killed it.
The guitarist is a beast. His sense of rhythm and melody is incredible.
Find someone who looks at you the way Cheryl Waters talks to Conor Oberst
Common knowledge solo hit me right in the heart, love this man to pieces
By far, my favorite on this album.
I could be his mother, no one writes like Conor. I hope he’s well. He started so young, it’s not until your 40’s that you need an anchor. You are in my thoughts Conor, good intentions. You are one of the great ones .
I am brand new to to Conor's music, and I'm blown away...thank you
So jealous that you get to hear it all for the first time!
I started listening to him around 2000- 2001, my gf made me a mix tape and I was blown away and first cd I got fevers and mirrors it had came out around that time.

Hundreds of Ways 00:29
Zigzagging Toward The Light 05:31
Double Life 15:48
We Are Nowhere And It's Now 20:14
Common Knowledge 29:24
I know, it' very, very sentimental. But "We Are Nowhere and It' Now" is still my favorite ballad after all these years.
I love lamp.
I remember Haligh, Haligh A lie. Haligh most. But We are Nowhere and It's now is great too.
IIRC this was the one in Knocked Up and I blurted out in theaters when recognized it.
@@MrPDTaylorlamp is life
Such a sweet soul. I could never get tired of hearing him play
Melody and Poetry, it's perfect.
That drummer is on point.
17 dislikes... so strange... that 17 people represent what's wrong with the world. This guy--Conor. A genius of our generation. Always inspired by him
+slyrundog Pretty solid that in six months we've only have three more dislikes though. FANTASTIC set.
amen to that!
I didn't dislike the video but I think there's some things about this artist that take some getting used to so if you're someone that doesn't tend to give different music a chance then you may dislike this.
to be frank, people are probably just misclicking. ive noticed ive accidentally disliked videos a couple of times myself.
Wow Conner, you're amazing!!! Just stumbled upon you on TH-cam... today was my lucky day!!!
Conner doesn't know how to write a hit? HORSESHIT! I have songs of his burned into my memory that I can recite on command to this day.
I have many a memory of me singing Bright Eyes songs with relative strangers. Horseshit indeed.
John Berry Conway III
Yup Yup, my friend... so much love for Conor!! 💜

This is one of obersts finest vocal performances
Holy Spirit. Beautiful, incomparable, what a band, his writings laureate stuff.

This is by far my favorite KEXP show they have put out

A deeply Kind and Intelligent Human, in addition to All Else.

Home boy with the backwards cap is the real mvp
Jonathan Wilson! Guitarist and producer on the album, also a few backup vocals.
Na son
Oh, I knew Father John Misty had a past life! Didn't know this was part of it, cool. Conor wasn't playing around getting these guys together.
So good
he's a great writer

Steven H The moment I saw him I came to the comments to see who called that. Haha good stuff.
Steven H That's what I was thinking
the moment conor sings "sometimes i get mistaken for this actor in "hundreds of ways" they point at him, haha
Haha, first thing I said when I saw him :D
Did you forget that yellow bird? How could you forget your yellow bird?

Jonathan Wilson on guitar
Yup! He produced the album and is pretty good friends with Conor!
some fine hair styles here. especially the drummers. how does he DO it?
Musical prodigy
is bilbo on keys? haha good band! :)
please explain conors guitar strap. It's oddly mounted, I'd like to have that.
Keith Buckley from ETID on drums
It's weird seeing him without Dawes now, I got used to it.
I couldn't quite catch the name of the bassist that released his own record...Does anyone know? Would love to check it out!
He's miwi la lupa check him out he does great stuff
Hee, thanks !
his name was kevin james
So this "can't write a hit" measuring stick is just ridiculous....every track this Man lays down stands on it's own....it is truly insane....Ed Sheeran would kill for a Gramme of what Conor has.......
conor's the songwriter we need ...ed is the one we deserve...
That steel guitar thuogh!
awh hes so cute. hes great
Nice try dude
Does anybody know what Conor does to the sound hole on his acoustic to give it the sound that it has??
It's a pick up
+G Jensen "sound hole" made me laugh out loud.
Pretty that's just to prevent feedback
0:53
Martin Freeman!!??
Jonathan Wilson on the instrument of string ladies and gentlemen!
So Cursive and Bright Eyes are in here, minus Tim and all the other band members.
Touring by yourself has got to be hard. Never thought about that.
didn't know woolie played bass 01:06
Beautifully awkward ! ❤❤❤
They all look so fucking perfect. Like perfectly unwashed looking semi-homeless.
is that bilbo on the keyboard?
This was Great!, Doesn't Connor Oberst Kind of Look Like David Duchovny From Californication ...
What is the drummer's name???
+Alex Müller Cully Symington
Jonathan wilson on guitar!?
yall is that shooter jennings playing pedal steel?
Cully Symington from Afgan Whigs! Not Bad.
Gosh... Yeah, Conor was not important there, there was a guy from Afghan Whigs, and just because of him it was not bad... You aren't true Conor's fan.
P. S. It's Afghan Whigs. :-)
Phii.
Not going by bright eyes any more?
Bright Eyes was a band, this is his solo project.
the single he released on 7" called "standing on the outside looking in" is closest to bright eyes in a while with mike mogis and nate walcott playing on the record. It's really good I recommend it.

This is too upbeat for me.

Trina turner you know that song is 10 years old, right? his writing at present seems to suggest he's in a much healthier place than he was at that time.
Matt Landon It depends on what you mean by "healthier place"... A chemical balance in his head isn't going to fix the world that he writes about.
Matt Landon Yes, definitely, I see what you are saying, after listening to almost all of his newer stuff.
Matt Landon I agree. I think he's healthier mentally and physically. He looks good. I think he stopped doing blow and drinking so much. You can hear it in the music. It's happier, it's less angry. I saw him last month here in Boston and he killed it.
Bilbo on the keys
needs mogus
frodo on keys!
Nice catch - but looks more like bilbo.
I don't like the way he sang "we are nowhere"
