Thanks, it's good to know they both accomplish the same things.After thinking I couldn't do the lip rolls, I kept trying and one day I was able to.
I felt stupid when I couldnt do this. Thanks so much for the help! It may be because of you that I get in the Mississippi School of the Performing Arts. Theres this vocal exercise that requires lips fillings so thanks again.

I learned it by messing around with my lip roll
U actually have to do the regular liproll like codfish and put ur tongue on the side of the higher lip that ur doing the liproll on and keep shaking ur tongue up and down 😉❤️

unfortunately I can't do lip trills for the life of me, but I can do tongue trills. I did not know that they served the same purpose tyvm.
@stargazer1682 For clarification - these are the sounds that you have to make in order to do the lip rolls and tongue trills properly. As far as what is physically and scientifically happening to your body when you do them, that may be better explained by a Doctor or biology teacher. I think you're searching in the wrong place if you're looking for that answer.

am I supposed to lift my soft palate when doing lip rolls?
I would always just sing out of nowhere or sing along with a song I liked but I wouldn't even call it singing I sounded like a drowning dog. After doing these warmups I felt like I actually hit a few notes 😂
Hi Elisabeth, does the tongue vibrates/moves when doing lip roll? Even almost the same way than when doing tongue trills (in a lower position I'd say). Thanks. That's what happens to me ;)
@Rikodemus Sorry for the late reply! I've never concentrated on lifting or lowering the palate while doing them, I'm not sure that doing that would have any effect on how the sound comes out. The motion is created with your lips so really, the palate isn't involved very much... it would ust mostly just change the tone of your voice, if anything. Hope that helps!

I have never been able to do the lip rolls no matter what. I can do the tongue trill, and actually do it all the time, but I always felt weird in singing class when everyone is doing the lip rolls and I just get nothing. Someone in my class even said it was because I had a cupid's bow mouth and a large overbite. Are they right?

Hello. I've been trying to tongue trill. It works. But eventually the trilling stops. I don't know if you get what I'm trying to imply but what I wanna ask, is why can't I continue to trill for a long time without my tongue stopping. Haha. I hope that was clear.
@Tora081 Well, I'd have to hear you to really get a good feel for your singing issues... I would suggest getting a singing teacher or buying a home study program and just keep practicing. In time with some guidance you could get better.

Uhhm, how about INSTEAD of taking advice from her which "you could get better", listen to my advice in which is GUARANTEED. Buy (or download) singing success by brett manning and there will be no "could"s "maybe"s or chances where you may not improve. :) I know this will help as it has for me.
