I literally just got s2 today. I love it. Rode it about a mile just to test it out - I love it. I’m a 5’10 215lbs man and it was quick to accelerate. The app is good - and the scooter feels premium
4:09 "...without having to have air in the tires." That's music to my ears! I was so sick of having flats on my rear wheel of my bicycle during my work commutes, so I decided to look for an electric scooter, instead. Now the bicycle can just be a backup plan in case the scooter kicks the bucket.
Time bomb - handle bar disconnected at 20mph!! I loved this scooter until yesterday. I’m in my mid 40s and use this scooter to commute. Yesterday the handle bars and pole tore off the scooter like wet cardboard. Less than a second later I was skidding on asphalt and the scooter base went into oncoming traffic. Luckily I didn’t get run over and no one else was injured. Banged up myself pretty bad. IMHO this should be recalled - this could have been a fatality had a car been behind me. The design itself is flawed by putting screws in the same location as a stress point - it is just a matter of time before the metal fatigues. Was 8 months for me before the bomb went off.
Oh wow, can you add me on instagram and send me pictures of the damage/broken part? Also how many miles did you have on yours? (instagram is in video description)

I noticed also some S2 Pros come with solid rubber tires and some come with honeycomb tires. The honeycomb tires version also has different shaped thumb controls and the brake + electronics wire locations at the lower tube are parallel to each other instead of offset. I wonder if the honeycomb tires version is the newer updated version? I got sold the solid rubber tires version and just noticed the differences. HiBoy needs to notify customers of this instead of allowing retailers to sell older versions for the same price, customers thinking it is the latest one. On their website it shows you can get a new front wheel with the honeycomb tires, but shows the rear wheel with the solid rubber tires. Gets confusing as to which type of tire they are going to send you.
They are good (bumpy tie) front tire wears out quickly. But I would still recommend. If on budget. Much better one would be Gotrax G3 for $100 more. Much better ride
Would you have to buy a new front tire, like once a year or something? I'm considering getting this scooter for a work commute, and I'd be riding it twice a day, M-F, maybe 14 miles total each day.
It is a double edged sword. The comfort is down a bit, but I deal with a Ton of flat tires on other scooters that you'll never have to deal with on this one! But that said, once these tires wear out you'll have to replace the whole wheel usually.
Sorry I dont know much about that Niu Kqi1, I will say the overall reviews and info ive seen regarding hiboy are really solid. But there are just sooo many to choose from!
Yeah I think Hiboy does not recommend taking this onto unpaved roads (like gravel roads and dirt driveways and general rocky areas). Not for off-roading. Probably more for sidewalks and the paved bicycle lanes alongside suburb/city roads.
Appreciate the review I found it to be thorough While others went over a dozen scooters without going in depth what each could really do I was confused in my choices 🔥🔥🔥🔥💪🏾
Been riding the S2 pro. Mileage is good if you're on eco. I'm 170lbs, I can get 20 miles on sport mode. No issues at all or of the box, but I highly highly recommend the four screws that come with the handlebars that you have to install make sure that you put loctite on those screws because they will 100%, lose.
What happened to $299? Amazon has it for $485. So in the last 2, weeks since this video has posted it's gone up $185? Nope sorry, I was ready to buy at 300
I think it's back to 300 now. At least, that is the price I bought it for (October 2023). At the time I'm typing this, I'm currently waiting for it to arrive in the mail. I got it from the Hiboy website.
"Is the Hiboy S2 Electric Scooter Still Good in 2023?" Nope, it never was. A cheap knock off of the tried and trusted Xiaomi M365. Just buy a second hand Xiaomi pro 1 (as it's the model with the biggest battery) and mod it to your hearts content? Want extra speed? Use custom FW. Want power? Get a 48v motor wheel. Want etc battery? Just add a Wildman bag with a battery of your choice. Want suspension? buy front and rear Monorim (or choose from a plethora of 3rd market). Those 'bird' scooters and the models (bizarrely) you talk about are not manufactured by them, they are either Xiaomi M365's or Ninebots with a Bird sticker slapped on (guess who owns Ninebot? Xiaomi). These scooters are crap, you can't do *anything* with them. A 13 minute advertorial...i'm disappointed in you mate.
Well lets talk about what the cost of those other ones are you spoke of. Do any of them come in anywhere near 300$? Think of it this way, people rent and ride my bird scooters a lot. Plenty of them to get to work and more, within 12 hours of riding my scooters they effectively spend the 300$ it would cost to buy a hiboy S2. So you really think its a bad idea? Its all about price to performance, I dont know a lot about the overall scooter world, But I know for a fact that if someone needs a cheap scooter, thats reliable this 300$ isnt a bad choice. Try not to get too hung up on modifications, and all the other fancy/faster scooters out there. I base my opinions on overall build quality and the value for the price. Now are there better scooters out there? Of course, but not many come in anywhere near the 299 mark, and even if they do, the reviews on this scooter speak for themselves all over the internet. That said, I do appreciate your input as always, but keep in mind not everyone wants to buy parts from 10 different companies, some just need a simple cheap basic way to get to work or get around.
Looks like the M365 pro sells for around 350$ here in the US, and has a smaller motor with no suspension? and used. So for a simple solution without modding, its not only worse but its more money and used?@@SeeDaRipper...
