2 years ago but here goes, so I got a dog and her name is Jira and she’s a 4 month old lab mix and I guess I didn’t do a good job introducing her to the crate, I followed Mccans Dog training crate training videos and I think I’ve been doing them wrong and how I’m using it, I need help because I’ve tried their 3 step method from one of their videos, 1. A verbal marker like a “quiet” or a “hey” the second they bark to get them to be quiet and then praise/reward them for being quiet, I think I might’ve been doing it wrong, cause I get too loud and I think I’m scaring her when I do this, and 2. Touching or tapping the crate, if the verbal marker didn’t work a method where to tap the crate to get them to be quiet and praise/reward when they are quiet from it, I think I may have been scaring Jira like this because when I tap, sometimes I do a hard tap or slam and I’ve watched your other videos and I just feel terrible and I am terrible cause I’m teaching her feet and not teaching her crate training, I’m doing this wrong and I severely need help because I don’t wanna make her scared of me but I already am doing that so I need to change it 3. Is attaching a long line leash to the crate, I’ve tried this and it didn’t seem to work like the tapping or touching, it can kinda work with Jira but if takes time and I feel like I’m scaring her with the leash and teaching her to be fearful of the leash. I need help man, like it’s my 5th day with her and I just feel like I’m doing a bad job and I am doing a bad job, I don’t wanna rehome her or take her back to the shelter after my partner says to if I can’t get it to work with Jira, and I’m doing a terrible job crate training her, I don’t wanna rehome or take her back because I’d feel horrible and guilty because Jira doesn’t understand why I’d left her or taken her back, she’d be confused and scared and alone and I don’t want that for her, I don’t wanna give up on her, I really really really need hope crate training and training her in general
