That’s a nice looking utilitarian little switcher. I’m actually currently installing a wow sound decoder in my USRA light mikado.
Thanks! and sound like a fun project :)
The small pennsy switchers are just cool.
Agreed! I love how they look
Cool switcher!
thanks!
damn, i have diligently instlled Tsunami2 decoders in all my steam locomotives but this video maks me want a TCS decoder solely for that Proto throttle feature that is so frickin cool
agreed! I personally prefer tcs and loksound over tsunami2. But thats just bc Ive listened to tsunami sounds for far too many hours and it sounds plain to my ears at this point.
@@trainman440 I still have a loksound in my Bachmann K4 I installed like 10 years ago, and honestly I was never too impressed with it. The whistle options were mediocre and the other functions were not too impressive. Since then I've been installing Tsunami decoders in my locomotives since, from what I understood at the time, tsunami was much better than loksound. Maybe Loksound is better now but I'll probably upgrade the K4 soon to a TCS decoder, and probably a keep-alive too. Which TCS decoder do you recommend?
@@PotentialAutist42069 Yes loksound was objectively inferior back when it was still V4. Back then all of loksounds steam files were still recordings of UK locos, not US. Ever since V5 has been released though the sounds are so much better. Unfortunately it does require a lokprogrammer (or a friend who does) to access all the sound options. but there are SO many options to choose from. theres like 20 different dynamos, and over 100 whistles! Even 3 prr banshees, and 3 prr 3 chimes. and if youre not satisfied with that, you can even add your own :)
i like these a5's, i have 2 rivarossi's im thinking of regearing with a cd rom drive motors. One is an older version with the complex valve gear linkage like yours, the other a newer version with simple valve gear tho it runs much smoother, same motor, same brass gear and worm drive..guess there's something to be had with a brass version, that runs so smooth.
Rivarossi 0-4-0s are based off of B&O C-16a prototype. Not PRR. But they are very cute engines! I have one myself which I added Tsunami sound and keep alive into a while back, and made a vid abt it too.
I ended up using a Mabuchi FF130 motor. Couldnt fit a CD driver motor inside there.
caboose trip pin a a bit long @0:20
haha nice catch! i gotta trim that
Do you still have the Prr b16sb
I dont think B16sb is a real loco
The Prr 4-4-0

Oh ok I was curious about it because I would have bought it from you
