I have it.. In my left arm too.. I'm 34 now. I've battled my entire life with it. Coming from a health conscious family I could never perform the way my siblings did at gym and sports. My form (especially with lat exercises) is severely compromised and I cannot do a bicep curl. Nevertheless I try my best. Recently I've taken a liking to triathlons. My advice for those that suffer from this condition is to take up swimming. It is by far one of the best activities for erbs palsy sufferers. It will be difficult at the onset, but gets easier in time. Keep up the good work Matt. I myself know how you feel and it may never be beaten fully but can be improved to a great degree.
Hey, thank you so much for the nice comment. I actually went swimming last week and I'm building it into my routine! Hopefully it'll help both my arm and fear of water!!
Hey buddy. Hope you are doing well and improving with your workouts. Thought I'd pop on to say hi and keep on going. At 34 I finally got it right to do a chin up. I can now do 3 before my erbs palsy arm gets the better of me. All in all, keep practicing- there is light at the end of the tunnel!! 🤙🏼
Omg!! I’ve never met anyone else with brachial plexus injury from birth. I can’t wait to see all the videos and read through the comments. I’ve felt really misunderstood always.
Keep it up bud!! My right shoulder has always been motivation. Because its a life long injury we get the luxury of always having something there everyday to remind us, push us, and always challenge us to a degree other people pay for. Its really a catalyst for everything else in my life and I take full advantage of it. Keep playing music too.
And if you need tips or tricks to help strengthen mobility and range as well as stretching let me know. I have a lot of physical therapy experience and have discovered a bunch of simple things for around the house, sitting down, etc
I have it in my right and I'm 17 I've struggled my whole life and sometimes it gets so frustrating to the point I just want to cry and give up but you are so inspiring. I am also a musician btw so I think that's awsome that you are as well, thanks for being so inspiring
Finally I'm in tears I'm 46 years old and I've been dealing with this my entire life I did the most research in the last 2 years about this prior to that I was living my life on survival mode raising for children alone trying to leave an abusive relationship and I never had time for myself until 2 years ago I was able to sit alone in my own thoughts and I came to the conclusion that I have a disability a very painful disability that has discouraged me in many ways I never spoke about this I'm literally in tears right now and I finally found people just like me and I want to introduce myself my name is Rosa thank you for this video
I also have Brachial Plexus Paralysis, however I’m 15. I seriously feel understood when I watch your videos... it makes me feel like there are others out there in the world like me, and we join up to create a brother and sister hood. I’m a swimmer, doing what I can, however I’m embarrassed to swim butterfly with two arms, because I can’t do it... I think the biggest problem for people like us, is how to develop our shoulder muscles... well at least for me. If anyone has tips or tricks, I’m all ears
Hey there . We are in the same age i have erb's palsy too Please contract me My instagram @asma.sisabey We can exchange tips and tricks and our experiences and everything. It has been always my dream to get to know someone with the same injury
I have Erb’s palsy. I’m 14 years old and it’s hard because kids at my school used to say I was lying about it. But now I live with it. My mom wants me to get surgery for it but my dad doesn’t. I didn’t know I had it until I noticed it until 3 rd grade and I went to PT and then we couldn’t pay for it and once we quit my arm got worse. Some days my arm is great other days I can’t lift my arm near my head. I embrace having it although it makes it really hard to play certain sports... like softball and basketball. I used to look up videos about it and I couldn’t find any. I’m glad you shared!
Thank you for the quality of sound equipment you use. I caught every word. Your voice is very clear. I am very grateful for having some connection with individuals who also sustained bpi. I am going to try to find out if my injury was partial tearing or full avulsion. Very necessary channel. Suzanne
I feel so self concious about it too , I hate this part of me . I am very creative and kind and I beleive that erbs palsy made me more resilient and stronger .I love myself but I still struggle with being myself and showing this part of me to people especially when I am in public , people don't vew it as I do, in fact I am a very likable person but I am just so insecure about it , I remember crying for not being like others back when I was a teenager and even with college it's hard , I always wear long sleeves even in summer ... so I will try to boost myself esteem despite having it ... I can't lie to myself and say that I love this part of me but I have to accept it. It's like having this disability makes me forget about all the other good things I have ... and I live in close minded society where being diffrent diffrent is considered strange , not everyone is understanding or maybe it's just me i feel judged ... but I love who I am overall I am an amazing person with amazing qualities hahah and who has erbs palsy .
I’m 12, ive had bpi my entire life. i was one of the lucky ones bc ive had pt and occupational therapy when i was a baby and it made it better but recently its gotten worse, like it contributes to my scoliosis... it makes me self concious how my shoulder looks especially when i wear short sleeved shirts. i also cant do some exercises in pe and my coaches get annoyed with me when i tell them about it..
Hi matt thanks a lot for the video, I'm suffering from BPI in my right arm, its not from my birth but I met with an accident 13 years back. I'm living with this condition since 13 years, its very demeaning when no one understands our pain. Worst part is to deal with the pain associated with it. Thanks a lot.
Hey! Thank you for the comment and I'm so glad you're feeling motivated! Keep pushing on and keep setting those goals, with determination you will get there :)
