I have BPI from birth! I'm a girl born in the nineties. You know what, now I feel grateful that I'm quite content with how I look. Of course it's on my mind, but I like looking in the mirror! :) We are fighters and problem-solvers and we've been through so much, this thing gives one a whole different level of confidence! It's the doctor's fault anyways, who should be sued btw. For any parent out there with a BPI baby, I recommend suing the doctors and the hospital! Could bring in huge amounts. Please don't hate how you look. You look awesome as do we all! Keep on!
I’m 52 and have what I’ve always described as a ‘slight disability in my left arm’ That’s what I’ve always said when asked why my arm ‘looks funny’ when I run. Why I can’t lift my arm above my head or why I can’t turn my left hand over etc etc I’ve only recently discovered the term Brachial Plexus Injury after a bit of research on TH-cam When I was born the doctors told my parents that I wouldn’t be like other kids and that I’d struggle. My attitude, which I got from my parents, was to just get on with life. I’ve done loads of sports. I’ve climbed mountains. I’ve played guitar since 16 and been in lots of bands BPI really has not held me back one bit Watching people on TH-cam share their thoughts and feelings about their own experiences with BPI is amazing I naively thought I was alone dealing with a ‘slight disability in my left arm…’ Looking forward to this documentary series - fantastic I live in the UK

Great video, I’m 40 with left BPI, mine didn’t get diagnosed until I was in my early 20’s. I’ve had no surgical interventions. My arm looks very similar to yours, I was told I’d never work in health care by my careers advisor, but I now work on a community nursing team in my home town, I’m in the UK so if you ever wanted to chat and do a video I’d be more then happy to 😀
This video made me tear up tbh I never told anyone besides close friends and family this. The doctor said I wasn't going to be able to use my arm at all it would either stay and infant sized arm or just grow but be useless. My mother would tell me stories about how she tied my good arm to my body so I couldn't use it and when friends and family came over she would untie me in fear of them thinking that she was crazy or abusing me. I would sit in my playpen and cry for hours so would my mom finally one day she said she thought my arm was twitching but in reality I was reaching for my toys with my injured arm. Some people would have seen it is child abuse but I'm so grateful I wouldn't be able to do what I love which is combat sports. I played every sport and today it's invisible to the naked eye you can't even tell I have it except for some range of motion issues but I can throw lefts rights elbows knees and wrestle. None of this possible without my mom and God. God bless you man 💪my nephew is going threw the same a milder form he has his hang ups about it some kids tease but he's gonna be just fine cause I'm here and I'm happy there are ppl like you out there
