Yep. This guy is an amazing teacher. I've learned so much from his thorough, patient, and largely jargon free instruction.

@@Drang_Gei it is heavily underrated. It only gets like 80k at max for most of the vidoes.But these deserve much more views than some other nonsense entertaining videos.
I don’t understand how Danya isn’t the most subscribed chess TH-camr.
It takes time, he will get there eventually! The algorithm can be a b!tch sometimes.
You start off your chess TH-cam journey with Levy and the Botez sisters but when it's game time and you actually want to learn and improve your game there's no better place to be than Danya's channel.
His content doesn’t suit the algorithm. You need shorter form, clickbait, entertaining content (entertaining, in the way a slot machine is entertaining.) Naroditsky doesn’t create the same low-education high-entertainment-value content that Hikaru, Levy, Botez, et al create.
He’s for intermediate chess players.
Most people do not get to an intermediate level.
Why do people call him Danya?
I hope Danya becomes one of the biggest chess TH-cam channels in the next few years. Come on algorithm, make him the goat!

He won't become one of the biggest chess channel. Cuz he doesn't teach chess, he teaches how to take logically sound decisions both on tactical and strategic level. That's a bit too much for an average youtuber. An average youtuber would prefer some comedy or drama over chess with all the dancing, singing, maybe streaping etc etc.

Bf5 is such a GM move. This was my biggest learning from this game. Thank you for teaching me again that chess is about controlling squares rather than gaining material.
Pins in a sense win you material temporarily, which gives you an ample opportunity to convert this temporary advantage into a permanent one
I guess it was Bf5. I agree, it was a move I wouldn't consider because it looks like it doesn't do anything in particular. I was shocked when it came out that this very bishop made this brilliant mate in two possible.

After all the talking about how bad white's position is, I had to physically remind myself that the material was still equal.
My rating jumped 100 points 1400-1500 in one day online and a lot of the credit goes to watching this speedrun up to this point. I cant believe how much going back to basics and keeping it simple with opening principles and mental checklists can help

👁️👄👁️ Anyway I'm already 1350 and I could say that I think very different when confronted in same situation.
I wouldn't have found the Qe4 leading to Qb8 checmate at all and had never done a similar checkmate out of my 1000+ games.
I would've just taken the knight instead of realizing that I have a mate in 2. Still this is educational for me and my goal is to be 1500 so I'm confident this video will help me
Edit: honestly speaking, danya's vids are very helpful especially for 1200+ rated players but I don't think it's beginner friendly. If you're 1000 rated and below, these info might overload you so I suggest you guys take a look for Eric Rosen. His gameplay are more suitable for beginners.
But I'm not discrediting Danya here. As I've said, currently his videos are the most helpful to me as a 1350 rated player

A lot of players in the low 1000s don't know a good response to C5 yet. E4 E5 is way more popular with some scandi and caro-kann thrown in at that level.

11:58 Qe4 is not actually mate in 2. White has Ng5 and then f4 to prolong the game. It's mate in 8, apparently.

"knight takes e5 to me is a no-brainer" I used all 10 of my brain cells trying to understand why that's better. Probably why I'm 950 in rapid haha.

It would be nice to see more games at this level. I find them very instructive. Perhaps instead of doing a speed run, you could alternately run games at different levels.

Free chess lessons every day by a GM is unreal.
Chess players have never had it this good. Imagine 50 years ago, no internet, no nothing. Just old dusty books, and nowadays you can just search your favorite opening on youtube and get GM level advice on it. For free, instantly

So here's a question: If Magnus was trolling, or just wanted to throw an opponent off balance, how might he have assayed this Qxd4 Sicilian as White? I know goes for a lot of offbeat openings at times. Can there be a method to the madness?

At 17:58, why wouldn't Qe4 work immediately? There's no way to defend both knights simultaneously, so Black would end up losing one of them.
I thought that too. And Qd4 as well.
Maybe there's a counterplay relieving the queen from the Bishop's defense or something. But I'm 800 lol so...
@@kantvishiQd4 actually won't work sadly. It doesn't work due to the discovery with the bishop after Nf3+
It works, but at the end of the line black can get the rook just the same like Danya showed. Play it out with an engine on the lichess analysis board.

Dayna maybe you should play at least 1600-2000 so the games are not decided early by one move blunders. We'll get more content that way. Great explanations thank you so much for this great channel.
It helps people with low elo like me, I understand you want higher level games but there's lots of streamers that show instructional games at higher elo and very few that can explain the principles at this level in an easy to understand way.
I think this game was won more with tactics than with positional play. Of course these wouldn't be available if not for sound positions, but I don't think it was THAT simple.

@@ariankhl3543 ah yes, sorry. 4...e5 is certainly playable as well, but it's perhaps not that flexible of a move as it permanently weakens the d5 square. It's not a bad move, especially if you're a Sveshnikov player, but it makes more sense to play some more flexible moves first (like d6, Nf6) and perhaps play e5 later instead of commiting to it right away

What's funny is that players around this level think the very opposite about development. They think they're being very aggressive with early Queen moves and unsound pawn pushes and are convinced their opponents are the ones who are 'wasting time' by developing 'too many' pieces 😂
There is nothing wrong with taking the pawn with the bishop rather than knight at 7:00...the engine actually prefers it. Win the pawn back with tempo and gain an even larger lead in development 👍
Probably a better move against a machine, but taking with the knight makes the other player more likely to blunder his queen

Can someone answer me: how are speedruns fair? A grandmaster is playing basically noobs, and taking rating points away from them. Not asking to be mean, I just wanna understand how it works.
Chesscom is aware that he’s doing it so all the points get refunded. They do it not to feel good about themselves and stomp scrubs, but to be instructional, and with all the points being refunded it ends up a net positive even if the guy ends up a bit tilted after getting trounced.
