Anyone trying this cave should get acquainted with the cooking pot, and bring an extra water jar or two. Antidotes will cure rabies. Calean soup will help with the overheating and water usage. Bug repellant will let you move through most of the cave unmolested.
Listen to him when he says don’t jump over the lava by the artifact! The baryonix can’t make the jump (his hit box hits the stone). And if u do die in lava, hurry back and try to use a grapple hook on your body through the lava

Just finished it with a bary. Great fun and most challenging. I built bridges and safety walls for future trips in because one of my tame raptors jumped into a lava pit chasing a bat. Great vid.
You kept talking about how bad lava was because your subconscious was trying to get you to mention the worst part. Not simply instant death; but also instant gear annihilation. That's the real kicker.

I hate this cave so much xD That lava... The prospect of falling into it at any time just stresses me so much, haha :D I prefer Sabertooth for this cave because I don't like how far up you are on the Baryonyx, makes it uncomfortable for me (I prefer 3rd person view for caves) and also I can handle Sabertooth jumps better. Also the damage isn't a thing since I was breeding sabers just for caves and they slay. The weird thing about this cave is how things can glitch out. I had at least 3 sabertooths that fell into lava with me but they didn't die (which is good), instead the glitched to somewhere on the surface and I actually found 2 of them again many days later, just by chance. Still don't know where the 3rd one and my Dimorphodon are at xD Oh and I take Ghillie for this cave, you can't repair it on the fly but I never had anything damaging me anyway and it's just the best to handle the heat I guess. :)
Honestly, I discovered this cave yesterday while I was out leveling up my 3 raptors. I didn't know it had an artifact in it so I was casually (but carefully) exploring it. Unfortunately all 3 of my raptors yeeted themselves off the cliff to the left after you pass the lava fall. They were chasing the Onycs 😒 One died by them, one lived, and one was stuck on the ledge so I couldn't get him to come to me. I went slowly down to get them and get t'f out but as soon as I got to the bottom, the Onycs swarmed the other two raptors and they both died so I noped on outta there. RIP 💔😭
Went through with my 197 dire wolf fell in the goddamn fucking lava my wolf instantly died and I did too I’m sooo upset right now I trained that wolf so much. Well there’s absolutely NOTHING I can do now except tame a new one☹️
I have not done any of the artifacts because im worried ill lose my dinos but since u did it and showed us what way to do it i trust u so ill do it plus thats the closer one because my main base is in herbivore island 😂😂😂
I have my base near that cave, I lost so much gear, otters and some mounts in my early attempts at it due to the lava pools, most of the jumps are easy but there are two that it pays off to use the grappling hook, but now I breeze through it with a pack of high level Dimorphodons that shred everything and I barely have to shoot a single arrow, I just set them on follow and aggressive and they clear the cave as I go on foot, that way the risk of losing my gear and mounts to the lava is almost null provided I don't get cocky and do the dangerous jumps without using the grappling hook. I found that this is by far the easiest way to complete the cave, the only downside is managing a large pack, I disable harvesting a corpse loot collection on all of the dimorphs otherwise they get encumbered pretty fast. Since I use the the dimorphs to kill everything inside I don't even need medical brews, but if one intends to fight on a mount, medical brews are indispensable, I don't know if it's been a recent change or if you're just so lucky in your previous cave videos, but bats giving rabies is pretty frequent now and unless you invested many points in health, rabies alone will kill you because it's got a huge countdown.
I think it's wierd that a Thylacoleo can't fit, but a Baryonyx can. it's like the Devs didn't give a shit, and just CHOSE to blacklist him. baryonyx is way bigger! but fits anyway. *shrug*
The Baryonys is thinner, I guess that's why. Just like the cave of the Pack used to be only accessible by raptors but not, say, wolves, even though they seem the be about the same size. But the Raptor just fits through super narrow spaces, he even fits through doors when they are 2 high :)

Thylo fits.ook sharply to the left, and spam jump, eventually it gets in/out. (front door) also ,the lava isnt instant death and if you carried a second crossbow pre-loaded with a grappling hook, its not death at all...
Since you get mega rabies when you are close to something that has it, if you have it and then your Dino gets it, does the timer for mega rabies stay at the maximum time?

Best mount imo is the terror bird, because its flapping ability makes the jumps a lot easier

Make a baby before any missions. I do this before hitting any cave and boss fight.

I use archaeopteryx for getting over lava to get artifact. Guille for staying cool, iced water and fria curry to insulate.
