    I'm soooo excited to be using the Sony 85mm f1.4 GM lens today!! It's such a beautiful lens as you can see from some of the 100% crops of images I've included in this video. Let me know what other videos you want to see from me with this lens!
    Also I hope you're all staying safe and are doing okay. This was filmed before the outbreak and I am now practicing self isolation. I know this is a hard time for creatives and freelancers and I thought I would outline a couple of different ways you could help your small business owners during this time:
    - share the love on social media, comment, like their posts and share their work!
    - consider one of their online resources like presets, classes, e-books
    - order prints from a photographer you love
    - order a commission from an artist you admire
    - shop from your local artists or small businesses online
    - watch creators videos on youtube :)
    - if you've made a booking with a photographer for something coming up in the next few weeks, consider rescheduling instead of cancelling

    the gm 85mm is literally the one lens in my collection of batis and gm’s that makes me eager to shoot, i cant explain it but everything from the feel to the end result is just perfect

    I've been watching your videos for a while and I have to say, you're such an inspiration! You explain so well + your voice is so soft and nice to listen to! Also I feel like sometimes people talk to the models in a bit of a harsh way (probably not on purpose), but I really like how you don't do that - instead, you make them feel comfortable. Your photography style is amazing, and I'm learning a lot from you, thanks!

    I don’t think I’ve ever commented on your videos but I’ve followed you for a long time. Definitely appreciate the time and effort you put into your TH-cam channel! Quick question on the WiFi transmitter...when you are in live view, it automatically transmits whatever live view is showing? I would imagine that would work with the EOS R and eye af as well?

    • @danpodbierezki
      @danpodbierezki 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately it doesn't work with Canon cameras, both mirrorless and DSLR's in live view. It's a Canon output issue, you loose viewfinder/LCD output as soon as you run a HDMI output. We're still working on a different solution for Canon.

    • @wesstewart6073
      @wesstewart6073 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dan Podbierezki Interesting. So there’s no real way right now to record whatever live view is seeing on canon cameras? Maybe they will fix that with the R5.

    It's amazing how much better these turned out than your EOS R photos from your beach photoshoot. Way sharper better colors and more dynamic range.

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would agree in this case, but to be fair we had REALLY bad conditions for that EOS R photoshoot on the beach. I honestly think any camera would have struggled to work with the colours and weird lighting we had on that day! A more fair comparison would be this photoshoot on the R: th-cam.com/video/FC5BRY6a_Ds/w-d-xo.html where we had a similar location and similar lighting :)

    Would be cool to see you shooting with Fuji, together with the 23 1.4 or 56 1.2. Thank you!

    How do you get the photos so sharp when the lens is wide open? I have the same camera and the Sony 85 1.8 use eye auto focus but all my photos the nose is out of focus but most of yours bar a couple where her nose was out of focus her face mostly was in focus and you were using 1.4 and 1.6

      Basically lots of practice with shooting wide open for many years! I have 2 videos up on my channel where I go into all the detail on how I focus in case you wanted to check them out :) That is basically what I do at every single photoshoot!

      Julia Trotti I’ve seen them however they’re using your 5d dslrs and don’t have eye auto focus like the a7iii

    Great video as usual Julia! Did you already review this lens and I missed it?? I'd love to hear your take on it. Cheers.

      Thank you! Nope, you didn't miss it - this was going to be my review video on it but we ended up getting carried away during the shoot cos I was just having so much fun with our location, model and concept that I ended up deciding this was just going to be a creative behind the scenes :) Once the self isolation is over I will be making a review video though!

    Can i ask what focus area and what focus mode you use in this video?
    And do you use any back button focus?

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I used eye af and when that didn't catch the eye, I had a small focus point I would move the eye instead. And from memory I'm pretty sure I was using servo AF :)
