- You guys have been asking me for this video for ages and I'm so excited it's finally here! Here are some tips on how I pose males who are not models for photoshoots - these posing tips are great for general portrait sessions, groom portraits at a wedding, engagement shoots and senior portraits. A big thank you to Karol for helping me create this, he did a great job for his very first photoshoot :D
I used my L.A. Lightroom Preset to edit all the photos: www.digitalfilmactions.com/li... As I wanted them to look quite natural with some high contrast.

it's so hard not to smile when you're in an uncomfortable or awkward situation, he probably wasn't used to being photographed or modelled around lol
it's so cool to see how the model kinda opens up further into the photoshoot and it really shows how he feels more free, natural and that he enjoys himself. so pleasant to see!

I used to wear headband, sunglasses & mask while posing. But my best way when taking photos is being the one who take the photos, NOT MY FRIENDS 🙃
“I look too happy” lol if I have a cute photographer taking pictures of my huge biceps, I”ll be giggling too🌝
Some of these poses look super awkward in real life but the final result is great
because she cut out the awkward part like the legs

Actually only about 1-5% is "not photogenic"
Most people are just uncomfortable with taking photos
If you comfort them while taking the photo, most people will be "photogenic" as well

I use these techniques every weekend when photographing weddings. It doesn't matter what someone looks like, their body shape, etc, by making them feel comfortable you can take a nice photo of anyone :)

Noah Mills and Sean O'pry are hot male models but this guy is hot in a different way. Some people like nordic features, some like eastern european or darker. Different types for different folks. I feel like its more a trick for photographer rather then model. I can do all these poses, but if my friend doesnt know when to take a picture, I am doomed.

WOW, just WOW! NOW I see what a portrait photographer is trying to achieve/portray in their shots, I always used to think the chat (feedback) and results were always "dorky" (well, to me at least). This singular video (vs the internet) opened my eyes to what the photographer wants to see vs what the subject thinks they should see and how to coax the subject into submission without them knowing it! BRILLIANT!

People often confuses the word MODEL as beautiful. Is not the case. This guy for example, is quite handsome but he’s not a model. Is not about the looks, it’s about the attitude, the pose, know how to improve your best angles, knowing your body and all that. As a photographer, I always say is a 50/50 work to make a good photoshoot.
