It's a known stereotype about east coast comics. The cold makes them angry. Pete Holmes does a similar impression an angry little east coast comic who's angry about triskets making new flavors. Lol
Also... What these people are mad about, the substance, is often... Obtuse and silly. And they aim their anger at groups and individuals who historically don't have the power and influence to warrant the outrage about in the first place.
Dana carvey is the beautiful spatula of our lives. His ability to look at anyone hilarious and scrape them up without a knife or a spoon is beautiful. As an east coaster "vt though" it's truly amazing
Dana has unique ideas. If he just described the concept to me: "This is a bit about a comic whose schtick is being annoyed, but his personal life is really successful and cushy, so he has to sort of manufacture outrage", I'd think: "O.K, Yeah, doesn't really sound funny"...But when he actually does it, it's hilarious...
I think this joke is funnier if you were around for stand up in the 80s and early 90s. The grumpy east coast (really northeast) comic was a regular guy at comedy clubs. And some of them did get obscenely wealthy (see Seinfeld, I know he doesn't have the over the top accent Carvey is doing but he is an east coast comic who's act is like 95% complaining)
Freaking hilarious. Reminds me of guys like Morrissey or Robert Smith who get massively successful but still have to sing songs in front of thousands of people about how miserable they are
Carvey and Conan are great together in this format. Carvey did a thing on Conan's podcast a few years ago imitating Johnny Carson getting pulled over for drunk driving in the 70s that's one of the funniest things I've ever heard.
I’ve heard Conan, Andy, and an assortment of producers and writers say she’s the same off mic🎤 and off screen as well as on, and that’s she’s really remarkable in this respect.
Conan might be the best comic writer of all time. He took Dana's idea for a character and gave it a full on backstory in the context of pitch and catch improv. That's absolutely genius comic writing.
Hope they gonna put out the "hillbilly-bit" as well. Can´t remember exactly the name, it was a hole two days ago I listened to it now😋 But it was hilarious!
Dana kills everytime 100%, I know people like that, LOL😂😂😂. As a lab technician, though: You can't appreciate enough the versatility provided by a simple tool such as the spatula. A spatula is EVERYTHING. It's the omnitool of the laboratory...
Music wise, I remember an interview with LL Cool J where he was talking about how record labels in the '90s decided that they wanted "hard lyrics" because it sold better. Meanwhile, he admitted that he was rich and his entire life experience was basically touring and being in hotel rooms all day... so he didn't really have anything "hard" to write about. Therefore the rappers were pressured to keep writing about their lives before they were famous, or to just write complete fiction. You gotta write us a song about being poor and angry, but you're a friendly and hardworking businessman who's flipping real estate in Beverly Hills.
This bit is so brilliant. Because actually if Dana Carvey wanted he could just be this guy who is a parody of other simplistic comic routines and make millions lol Just amazing.
I heard Bob Newhart quote what I think is just an entertainer's axiom: "A comic says funny things - A comedian says things funny." I think we've seen a demonstration of that here. Dude says "...spatulas!" out of the blue...takes out the whole room!!
😂🎉😅 silver lining of pandemic(pre/post]..podcasts, the history, stories and seeing people still at,on and in their game. I've been floored by anecdotes about shows, music that I actually still remember...with a touch of " YOU WERE THERE"....echo... Thank you.🤣🎸
The Conan versus Leno rivalry is so real. Really. Also, most people have no idea what kind of pressure comes with having a late night network talk show being paid hundreds of millions of dollars and given all the comedy writers you need. It's really tough, mm-kay?
This can’t be anyone but Billy Burr!
Billy Blue Balls, ya hockey puck!
I think it's a pretty good impression of Dennis Miller.
yes, he is an East Coast comic.
@@StevenJBen he does a Dennis Miller impression and it's nothing like this...it's just like Dennis Miller, so again, not like this.
It's a known stereotype about east coast comics. The cold makes them angry. Pete Holmes does a similar impression an angry little east coast comic who's angry about triskets making new flavors. Lol
Dana Carvey is criminally underrated, especially his stand up. Most people only know him because of Wayne's World, but his stand up is so good.
That being said, I'd like to play some jazz trumpet for y'all.
Dana Carvey is the comic that makes all the other comics cry laughing
🎵Choppin' broc-co-li, choppin' broc-co-lie 🎵
I love that song
@@MaddMountains he is definitely an underrated all time great
I completely agree with you and was thinking the same thing while watching this video.
This bit is great. But Conan sneaking in “He passed away” made me spit my drink
"He just doesn't know it yet" -- Gold!
And then he catches fire.
We need 3 hours of him just yelling random items he hates 😂
ok bud great idea
That's what Carlin mastered. But this sounds more like Bill Burr to me.
You know what I hate??? Replies to comments....
It’s like Bill Burr and Joe Pesci had a baby.
Haha, good one. My first thought was Pesci when hearing the podcast:)
Lol
I hear Dennis Miller.
@@ChordtoChord Look out the window
Burr: (enters) you got jokes, fuqqo?
A lot of comedians lose their edge as they age, but Carvey is razor sharp and maybe even funnier than I remember him back in the day.
I feel like he was a restricted and pigeonholed before, now he can do whatever he likes and not worry about being too mainstream
I can't get the turtle club out of my mind. Master of disguise was atrocious and kinda funny
Man, he does an excellent Sebastian Maniscalco.
Burr
@@psilva2462 Throw on a blanket.
Definitely more Italian than Irish
You could also apply this to guys like Joe Rogan and Jerry Seinfeld (they basically do the same bits minus the over the top accent)
Except this bit is funnier than Maniscalco is now
"...I'm buying a yacht." That one made me laugh out loud. Dana Carvey is brilliant.
Carvey...one of the funniest people to ever live. He breathes funny. Effortless.
Yeah but when he brought up Leno I thought Conan would pull a gun out and shoot him in the head. Now that really wouldn't be funny.
who knew Dana Carvey was Gary Oldman this whole time
I did
or gary oldman is doing a dana carvey impression
He's a 2/3 scale model of Oldman.
This is just a straight-up Bill Burr imitation. Spot on.
First thing that popped in my head when Dana started riffing, Seinfeld!! And Conan said it!! Dana is Awesome!!
hands down one of the most entertaining episodes 🤣🤣🤣
“It’s been 11 years…..he passed away”
Hahahaha
I know for sure, every comedian always compound with Conan like 100 times more than anybody else but with Dana Carvey it's another level for sure 😊.
Come on, we all know this isn't a character, it's an impersonation. Hilarious
@@mikel5163 Dude come on get with it. That does not sound like Carrot Top.
It's Nick De Paolo, Bill sounds nothing like this
It's 100% a character, not an impression of anyone specific.
This podcast was the most laughs I had in a loooong time. Nonstop hilarity!!
Love it how Conan is egging him on with these fantastical scenarios. :D
There do seem to be a lot of unfathomably rich people whose entire persona is being mad about stuff, and it's not just comics
Yeah, they’re called Republicans.
Also... What these people are mad about, the substance, is often... Obtuse and silly. And they aim their anger at groups and individuals who historically don't have the power and influence to warrant the outrage about in the first place.

Dana and conan together are so hilarious. What a treat. I could listen for hours
Dana has unique ideas. I heard this accent my whole life, so the back story is what makes it funny for me.

There are people who’s whole career is this concept.
Conan is such a great facilitator of Dana's humor...I smell another podcast 😂 just: "Deep Dive, with Conan and Dana" 😎
"He's passed away"
"They haven't told him yet"
These guys are just so fast. On their own level.
Freaking hilarious. Reminds me of guys like Morrissey or Robert Smith who get massively successful but still have to sing songs in front of thousands of people about how miserable they are
Sssssssssssssnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Well Morrissey isn’t happy and he isn’t sad…
I mean... success doesn't mean you are happy necessarily
Money doesn’t equal happiness.
Yeah, they're both genuinely disgruntled. And, in Mozza's case, he hates what he has seen happen to his country. Burr, on the other hand...
Carvey and Conan are great together in this format. Carvey did a thing on Conan's podcast a few years ago imitating Johnny Carson getting pulled over for drunk driving in the 70s that's one of the funniest things I've ever heard.
“Tables” and “I’m buying a yacht” kills me every time!
Love watching Sona laugh. She really means it!

creep meter activated
Sometimes she does. Many times it's obviously fake and over the top.
Carvey is the best comedic impressionist of all time I swear!
As a Bostonian im dying over here lmao

anyone who's worked at SNL can pull something like that out of their ass at any time, they train people to think a certain way
Wow he perfectly captured bill burr here
How do do a Bill Burr without sounding like a Bill Burr.

Bill Burr will do a bit complaining about helicopter maintenance :)
What's funny is that this would have been a perfect skit for the late night show.
Spatulas?
There's no better way to say I love you than with a spatula.
The very last second was worth watching the whole video. 5:30
I knew the Diceman would have a comeback 😆
I've got to agree about curly fries. I mean what's up with that? Spatulas and meter maids are okay, though.
I head this on the pod cast playing in the background and thought they were poking fun at Bill Burr
Such a killer bit! “Hold ur fkn drink!” 😹
I could listen to this character all day! haha!
This can't be real. Nobody can be this funny.
I love Sona's laughter.....pure joy😂
Conan used the word “codicil” and that is why he’s the greatest
he perfectly mixed the boston/new york accents
Don’t listen to this while driving… almost crashed from laughing so hard! LMAO.
Everyone is mentioning Bill Burr but the accent is clearly more Maniscalco
I made the mistake of listening to this podcast on the bus. I was crying and trying to hold in laughter throughout this entire bit.

“Tables” KILLED ME lol😂

i was expecting conan to do his leno when dana brought him up
Dana is a national treasure!
Conan’s setups man hahahahaha
This was a great observational bit, which will make me listen to certain comics differently .
I read the title and thought maybe Marc Maron, but this is definitely Sebastian Maniscalco
East Coast Comic sounds exactly like Bill Burr!!!

Very funny, as always.

Carvey simultaneously invented Sebastian Maniscolco and Bill Burr in one impressionj
OMG. Conan said Codicil! That made my friggin month.
“It’s been eleven years….he passed away.”
“God rest his soul.”
“They haven’t told him yet.”
Hahahahhaha im dead
-He passed away
-God rest his soul
😂
Believe it or not, before he got the TV show, Seinfeld used to do a bit about how he had no imitators because he had no gimmick.
When he set up the bit, I thought immediately of Bill Burr. As he got into it, it sounded more like Seinfeld and Maniscalco.
01:46 Alas, that Maui set-up went up in smoke🔥
There was a minute when Dana came back and he was doing 30 year old material. But this was awesome and hilarious 😂 😃 😄
Dana Carvey giving off some Gary Oldman as Lt. James Gordan vibes.
"I'm worth $150mm !" CONAN : thinking "I just sold this podcast for $150mm. Lightweight"
At 05:03 he reminds me of the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz. "And then I'm going to take out your pancreas, and throw it over there!"
the thumbnail got me thinking he is wearing a padded power shoulder jacket
Channeling Bill B right there. No camoflauge whatsoever. Even the delivery is Bill's.
